Book excerpt: We were slow to pick up on Sepharial (Walter Gorn Old, though he almost never used his birth name), 1864 - 1929. As C.E.O. Carter says, he is brilliant at almost everything he touches. Sepharial's writing on numerology remains unsurpassed. Sepharial was more than a mere astrologer. Reading his work it is obvious to me that he had the gift of omniscience, which is the customary result of past life training in Jnana yoga. Omniscience on a human level means that when one studies a subject closely, one is able to understand new things about it, not merely parrot old facts in new dress. This ability often leads to a writing style which is sometimes and to some people frustrating to read. Sepharial will blandly state what he knows to be true. If you know how to read conceptually Sepharial is exciting. If you like your facts cold, Sepharial will leave you stranded.

Book COSMIC SYMBOLISM BEING A DISCUSSION AND EXPOSITION OF SOME RECONDITE AND OBSCURE POINTS IN THE ART OF THE KABALISTS THE MYSTERIES OF SOUND FORM AND NUMBER AND THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF COSMIC SYMBOLISM

Download or read book COSMIC SYMBOLISM BEING A DISCUSSION AND EXPOSITION OF SOME RECONDITE AND OBSCURE POINTS IN THE ART OF THE KABALISTS THE MYSTERIES OF SOUND FORM AND NUMBER AND THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF COSMIC SYMBOLISM written by SEPHARIAL and published by BEYOND BOOKS HUB. This book was released on 2023-05-27 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “There is no end to the writing of books,” we are told. Certainly it seems to be the fact that one book leads to another, and the many demands made upon me for explanations of points, problems and paradoxes, contained in some of my recent works, have induced me to a comprehensive effort in the present volume. Whether I shall have succeeded in throwing more light upon the dark problems of Occultism, or only in making confusion worse confounded, it is for the reader to judge. “All truth is paradoxical,” says Laotze, the great philosopher of Quietism. In such case it were hard indeed to offer any argument which may be regarded as final and conclusive, and especially is this the case in reference to the debatable ground of Occultism. Yet a very wise writer has said that nothing can be accepted as true which does not submit to a mathematical statement. This is a tacit confession of faith in the law of numerical ratios, the geometry of the universe which underlies all revelation. We cannot truly be said to know a thing until we have reduced it to a mathematical concept. We may conveniently regard life as manifesting 2in three stages or degrees, namely, Principles, Causes and Effects. Our conscious relation to these three stages of life gives rise to Ethic, Philosophy and Science. Science is what we know of the universe; philosophy what we think of it; ethic, how that thought affects our conduct. Thus the final appeal is to utility. The virtue of everything is in its use. Science, philosophy and ethic must eventually submit to the test of utility. It is not for the sake of the mathematical statement, nor yet for the pleasure of abstract argument, but chiefly for the sake of utility that I have attempted this popular exposition of Occultism, for I think it deserves more attention than has hitherto been given to it. The idea that Occultism serves any useful end in life may not at once appeal to the casual reader. The deeper thinker will, however, discern in any coherent system of thought, in any orderly statement of fact, a possible means of self-adjustment to the problems of life, howsoever dimly apprehended. To the categorical imperative of Kant—I must because I ought, but why ought I?—Occultism offers a very definite answer. It gives a cogent reason for all action, and may indeed be finally judged on its ethical value. It will not be found inadequate. Purposive action has no value without free will in man. That “free will in man is necessity in play” is true only of those who are not divine conspirators. We are fated to the extent that we are ignorant of 3the cosmical and spiritual laws—the one order is a reflex of the other—by which the universe is upheld. We are culpable to the extent that we neglect those laws we know. Science has succeeded in harnessing many of the forces of Nature to the service of mankind. Philosophy will bring man into conscious relations with the laws governing his existence, and ethic will instruct him concerning their employment for the good of the race. To the extent that we understand the laws of our being and use them for our personal benefit, and through ourselves for the good of all mankind, we become conspirators with the Divine Will, conscious co-operators towards “that one divine far-off event to which the whole creation moves,” an apotheosis warranted by the trend of the physical and spiritual evolution of humanity, and prophetically indicated by the words: “Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, to crown him with glory and worship.” As fragments in the fabric of a spiritual upbuilding, as detached observations of the law of universal harmony, as things of isolated interest, all conspiring to the founding of a single idea, these curiosities of Occultism are offered to those who are able to appreciate them...FROM THE BOOKS.

Book excerpt: The Language of Creation is a commentary on the primeval stories from the book of Genesis. It is often difficult to recognize the spiritual wisdom contained in these narratives because the current scientific worldview is deeply rooted in materialism. Therefore, instead of looking at these stories through the lens of modern academic disciplines, such as sociology, psychology, or the physical sciences, this commentary attempts to interpret the Bible from its own cosmological perspective.By contemplating the ancient biblical model of the universe, The Language of Creation demonstrates why these stories are foundational to western science and civilization. It rediscovers the archaic cosmic patterns of heaven, earth, time, and space, and sees them repeated at different levels of reality. These fractal-like structures are first encountered in the narrative of creation and then in the stories of the Garden of Eden, Cain and Abel, and the flood. The same patterns are also revealed in the visions of Ezekiel, the book of Daniel, and the miracles of Moses. The final result of this contemplation is a vision of the cosmos centered on the role of human consciousness in creation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using his background in political theory and philosophical anthropology, Barry Cooper is the first political scientist to propose new interpretations of some of the most famous extant Paleolithic art and artifacts in Paleolithic Politics. This book is inspired by Eric Voegelin, one of the major political scientists of the last century, who developed an interest in the very early symbolism associated with the caves and rock shelters of the Upper Paleolithic, but never finished his analysis. Cooper, who has written extensively on Voegelin’s theories, takes up the enterprise of applying Voegelin’s approach to an analysis of portable and cave art. He specifically applies Voegelin’s philosophy of consciousness, his concept of the compactness and differentiation of consciousness, his argument regarding the experience and symbolizations of reality, and his notion of the primary experience of the cosmos to images previously regarded as pedestrian. Cooper demonstrates the political significance of the earliest expressions of human existence and is among the first to argue that political life began not with the Greeks, but 25,000 years before them. Archaeologists, prehistorians, and political scientists will all benefit from this original and provocative work.

But this is done daily by those who make use of numbers for purposes of divination.-from "Chapter II: Geometrical Relations of Thought"Originally published in two volumes in 1913, this classic of the art of numerology builds upon the work of the ancient Greeks, Aryans, and Egyptians to describe the dramatic effect that numbers exert upon the world all around us. Part I introduces numerological theories and practices, including how to read others' thoughts through numbers, predict and influence success and failure, and understand "chance" events. Part II explores the geometry of nature and how it affects us, numbers that sway human will, and much more. For practitioners of the paranormal arts and those interested in the history of science and pseudoscience, this is a fascinating and essential book."Sepharial" was the pseudonym of British mystic WALTER GORN-OLD (1864-1929), one of the most prolific writers on and teachers of astrology in modern times. Book Divine Marriage from Eden to the End of Days

Download or read book Divine Marriage from Eden to the End of Days written by André Villeneuve and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-10-12 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Divine Marriage from Eden to the End of Days, Andre Villeneuve explores the mystery of God's love in the Bible and ancient Jewish tradition. Scripture portrays the covenant between God and his people as a divine-human marriage spanning through all of human history. For the ancient Jewish interpreters, God married humanity at the dawn of creation in the Garden of Eden; but the union was broken by human sin. The Lord restored the relationship when he betrothed Israel at Mount Sinai; yet the covenant was wounded again with the transgression of the golden calf. The nuptial bond was healed anew, commemorated, and reenacted through liturgical worship in Israel's tabernacle and temple. This worship in God's "nuptial chamber," in turn, anticipated the ultimate fulfillment of the divine-human marriage in the messianic age at the end of history. The first part of the book explores the marriage through Israel's biblical history in light of ancient Jewish exegesis. The second part unveils the marriage in the ancient interpretation of the Song of Songs and in wisdom literature. The third part reveals how the same symbolism is taken up in the New Testament and applied to the marriage between Christ and the Church.

Book The Erosion of Inerrancy in Evangelicalism

Download or read book The Erosion of Inerrancy in Evangelicalism written by Gregory K. Beale and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2008-11-04 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examines recent postmodern efforts to redefine the traditional evangelical view of scriptural authority and counters with sound logic that supports inerrancy. Due to recent popular challenges to evangelical doctrine, biblical inerrancy is a topic receiving an increasing amount of attention among theologians and other scholars. Here G. K. Beale attempts vigorously and even-handedly to examine the writings of one leading postmodernist, Peter Enns, whose writings challenge biblical authority. In support of inerrancy, Beale presents his own set of challenges to the postmodern suppositions of Enns and others. How can the Bible be historically inaccurate while still serving as the authoritative word on morality and salvation? Beale concludes that it cannot, and his work will aid all who support biblical inerrancy in defending their position against postmodern attacks. This is an issue that affects the entire body of Christ.

Book The Heritage of Traditional Malay Literature

Download or read book The Heritage of Traditional Malay Literature written by V.I. Braginsky and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-06-20 with total page 906 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional literature, or 'the deed of the reed pen' as it was called by its creators, is not only the most valuable part of the cultural heritage of the Malay people, but also a shared legacy of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. Malay culture during its heyday saw the entire Universe as a piece of literature written by the Creator with the Sublime Pen on the Guarded Tablet. Literature was not just the creation of a scribe, but a scribe himself, imprinting words on the 'sheet of memory' and thus shaping human personality. This book, the first comprehensive survey of traditional Malay literature in English since 1939, embraces more than a millennium of Malay letters from the vague data of the seventh century up to the early beginnings of the modern literatures in the late nineteenth century. The long path trodden by traditional Malay literature is viewed in historical and theoretical perspectives as a development of integral system, caused by cultural and religious changes, primarily by gradual Islamization. This changing system considered in the entirety of its genres and works, is seen both externally and internally: from the point of view of modern scholarship and through the examination of indigenous concepts of literary creativity, poetics and aesthetics. The book not only repesents an original study based on a specific historico-theoretical approach, but it is also a complete reference-work and an indispensable manual for students.
