The charter, issued by Governor Benning Wentworth, contains the names of the grantees, rights granted to the town of Brumley, and a diagram of the boundaries. A note certifying the authenticity of this "Copy of the charter of Brumley as recorded in the book of Charters Vol. 2nd folio 273" is signed by the transcriber, New Hampshire Secretary of State Ralph Metcalf, and is dated June 25, 1831. This copy had a transcription error relating to the number of shares granted. In the original, there were granted seventy-two shares, while the copy states that twenty-two shares were issued.
