Book Inventory Control Models with Motivational Policies

Download or read book Inventory Control Models with Motivational Policies written by Ata Allah Taleizadeh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-13 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the different motivational policies used for inventory management. In many competitive markets, sellers use motivational policies to encourage the customers to buy more and these kinds of strategies are used as competitive tools. This book brings together all the motivational policies for lot sizing decisions and offers a useful guide for inventory control. Each chapter applies deterministic inventory models such as economic order quantity (EOQ) and economic production quantity (EPQ), but also stochastic models for the motivational policy covered. The book begins exploring quantity discounts such as all-unit and incremental discounts. It then looks at delayed payment or trade credit policies that are applied by many suppliers and/or wholesalers to increase their sales. The motivational policies covered in the following chapters are dedicated to advance payment/prepayment schemes and also special sales offered by retailers to increase sales levels or decrease the inventory level. Finally the book concludes with a review of announced price increases, which persuades customers to buy a product at the current price, rather than paying more for it in the future. Inventory Control Models with Motivational Policies should be useful for professionals working on supply chains, but also researchers in operations research and inventory management.

Book Handbook of EOQ Inventory Problems

Download or read book Handbook of EOQ Inventory Problems written by Tsan-Ming Choi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-17 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) inventory model first appeared in 1913, and in its centennial, it is still one of the most important inventory models. Despite the abundance of both classical and new research results, there was (until now) no comprehensive reference source that provides the state-of-the-art findings on both theoretical and applied research on the EOQ and its related models. This edited handbook puts together all these interesting works and the respective insights into an edited volume. The handbook contains papers which explore both the deterministic and the stochastic EOQ-model based problems and applications. It is organized into three parts: Part I presents three papers that provide an introduction and review of various EOQ related models. Part II includes four technical analyses on single-echelon EOQ-model based inventory problems. Part III consists of five papers on applications of the EOQ model for multi-echelon supply chain inventory analysis.

Book Opportunities and Challenges for Next Generation Applied Intelligence

Download or read book Opportunities and Challenges for Next Generation Applied Intelligence written by Been-Chian Chien and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-05-12 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term “Artificial Intelligence” has been used since 1956 and has become a very popular research field. Generally, it is the study of the computations that enable a system to perceive, reason and act. In the early days, it was expected to achieve the same intelligent behavior as a human, but found impossible at last. Its goal was thus revised to design and use of intelligent methods to make systems more ef- cient at solving problems. The term “Applied Intelligence” was thus created to represent its practicality. It emphasizes applications of applied intelligent systems to solve real-life problems in all areas including engineering, science, industry, automation, robotics, business, finance, medicine, bio-medicine, bio-informatics, cyberspace, and man-machine interactions. To endow the intelligent behavior of a system, many useful and interesting techniques have been developed. Some of them are even borrowed from the na- ral observation and biological phenomenon. Neural networks and evolutionary computation are two examples of them. Besides, some other heuristic approaches like data mining, adaptive control, intelligent manufacturing, autonomous agents, bio-informatics, reasoning, computer vision, decision support systems, expert s- tems, fuzzy logic, robots, intelligent interfaces, internet technology, planning and scheduling, are also commonly used in applied intelligence.

On the aca demic side alone, chapter authors include faculty members in supply chain and operations management, marketing, industrial engineering, economics, computer science, civil and environmental engineering, and building construction departments.

Book Supply Chain Scheduling

Download or read book Supply Chain Scheduling written by Zhi-Long Chen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-07 with total page 699 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supply chain scheduling is a relatively new research area with less than 20 years of history. It is an intersection of two traditional areas: supply chain management and scheduling. In this book, the authors provide a comprehensive coverage of supply chain scheduling. The book covers applications, solution algorithms for solving related problems, evaluation of supply chain conflicts, and models for encouraging cooperation between decision makers. Supply chain scheduling studies detailed scheduling issues within supply chains, as motivated by a variety of applications in the real world. Topics covered by the book include: Coordinated decision making in centralized supply chains, including integrated production and distribution scheduling, joint scheduling and product pricing, and coordinated subcontracting and scheduling. Coordination and competition issues in decentralized supply chains, including conflict and cooperation within scheduling decisions made by different parties in supply chains, and both cooperative and non-cooperative supply chain scheduling games. The book describes a variety of representative problems within each of these topics. The authors define these problems mathematically, describe corresponding applications, and introduce solution methods for solving each problem to improve supply chain performance.

Book Quantity Discounts

Download or read book Quantity Discounts written by Charles L. Munson and published by . This book was released on 2015-04-30 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantity Discounts surveys operations management literature and offers ways to bridge remaining gaps between research and practice. The authors include formulas and solution methods for some of the fundamental quantity discount scenarios from both buyers' and sellers' perspectives. Sample solution methods provide enough detail to enable implementation by managers, and they provide a flavor of the variety and complexity of some of the core techniques appearing in the literature. Quantity Discounts is organized as follows. Section 2 describes quantity discount conditions and realities, including the many reasons why companies offer them, the various quantity discount characteristics, results from surveys of practicing mangers, and a sampling of real-world discounts appearing in the literature. Section 3 provides a literature review for buyer's perspective models, while Section 4 provides a review for seller's perspective models. Section 5 concludes with several recommendations for future research. Finally, especially designed for instructors and practitioners, the Appendix illustrates how to implement several standard quantity discount models into Microsoft Excel with relative ease.
