Book It s a Jungle Out There

Download or read book It s a Jungle Out There written by Gaetano Martino and published by Brill Wageningen Academic. This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to explore the variety in organizational forms that exists in the European agri-food sector, and to identify an appropriate theoretical framework that includes a set of conceptual instruments to analyse this variety. Moreover, this framework should be helpful in the exploration of the relationship between organizations and the regulatory domain. The book focuses on organizational forms under two perspectives. First, it underlines the variety in organizational forms and their internal complexity. Second, it includes a series of case studies from different theoretical perspectives that highlight diversity within the agri-food sector, spanning from the adoption of standards to producer organizations. The book then proposes a conceptual foundation that can help in the design of applied theoretical frameworks to address the variety and the complexity of the organizational modes in agri-food supply systems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agricultural Cooperation was first published in 1957. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. Much has been written and published on the general subject of agricultural cooperation, but the material has been scattered and hard to find until now. The volume makes available in convenient form a selection of the most significant articles and excerpts from books, magazines, pamphlets, and other publications. It provides a comprehensive view of the development of farmers' cooperatives in the United States and an evaluation of their relation to the present economy. The 54 articles are by 49 different contributors from various branches of cooperative activity. Among them are professors of agricultural economies, government research experts in agricultural cooperation, officers and members of cooperative organizations, as well as government officials including former Secretary of Agriculture Clinton P. Anderson and Senators Paul H. Douglas and George D. Aiken. J. K. Stern, president of the American Institute of Cooperation, contributes a foreword. The articles deal significantly with such broad subjects as the economic and social forces that have shaped the development of cooperatives, the place of cooperative organizations in helping to meet the present-day needs of agriculture, and the role of these farmer-owned businesses in the nation's economy.

Book excerpt: This is a fascinating insight into some of the most important thinking of the industrial revolution in Israel. Technological revolution, rapid industrialization and higher levels of productivity all drew more and more people from the agricultural workforce and new ideas were needed to combat this serious loss of labour. At the time this book was first published, Professor Halperim's had somthing new and original to offer. He argued that agriculture could be combined with industry without undermining that age-old social asset, the village community, and bring it into line with changing conditions. As he predicted the development of areas comprising a score or more of villages, ranging around non-agriculture has been preserved, and rural society has continued to exist although it has assumed different forms. The name proposed by the author for this new formation is Agrindus, as it expresses the integration of AGRiculture and INDUStries.
