Book Convergence of Binomial Tree Method for European American Path Dependent Options

Download or read book Convergence of Binomial Tree Method for European American Path Dependent Options written by Lishang Jiang and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The binomial tree method, first proposed by Cox et al. (1979), is the most popular approach to pricing options. By introducing an additional path-dependent variable, such method can be readily extended to the valuation of path-dependent options. Barraquand et al. (1996) presented the so-called forward shooting grid method, which is a modification of binomial tree method, to cope with arithmetic average options. In this paper, using numerical analysis and the notion of viscosity solutions, we present a unifying theoretical framework to show the uniform convergence of binomial tree methods for European/American path-dependent options, including arithmetic average options, geometric average options and lookback options.

Book Convergence Analysis of Binomial Tree Method for American Type Path Dependent Options

Download or read book Convergence Analysis of Binomial Tree Method for American Type Path Dependent Options written by Min Dai and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pricing models of American-type path-dependent options are of degenerate parabolic obstacle problems. The binomial tree method is the most popular approach to pricing options. For some special cases, this method is modified in order to make it feasible. The main purpose of this paper is, using numerical analysis and the notion of viscosity solutions, to show the uniform convergence of the binomial tree method and the modified binomial tree method for American-type path-dependent options.Numerical experiments are given to demonstrate our conclusion.

Book The Convergence of Binomial Trees for Pricing the American Put

Download or read book The Convergence of Binomial Trees for Pricing the American Put written by Mark S. Joshi and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study 20 different implementation methodologies for each of 11 different choices of parameters of binomial trees and investigate the speed of convergence for pricing American put options numerically. We conclude that the most effective methods involve using truncation, Richardson extrapolation and sometimes smoothing. We do not recommend use of a European option as a control. The most effective trees are the Tian third order moment matching tree and a new tree designed to minimize oscillations.

This book was released on 2011-04-15 with total page 727 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an introduction to the mathematical, probabilistic and numerical methods used in the modern theory of option pricing. The text is designed for readers with a basic mathematical background. The first part contains a presentation of the arbitrage theory in discrete time. In the second part, the theories of stochastic calculus and parabolic PDEs are developed in detail and the classical arbitrage theory is analyzed in a Markovian setting by means of of PDEs techniques. After the martingale representation theorems and the Girsanov theory have been presented, arbitrage pricing is revisited in the martingale theory optics. General tools from PDE and martingale theories are also used in the analysis of volatility modeling. The book also contains an Introduction to Lévy processes and Malliavin calculus. The last part is devoted to the description of the numerical methods used in option pricing: Monte Carlo, binomial trees, finite differences and Fourier transform.

Book A Defaultable Binomial Tree

Download or read book A Defaultable Binomial Tree written by Marek Kolman and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the study we present a fairly generalized two-level option tree that is capable of pricing credit-linked vanilla plain European/American and path-dependent options. The main contribution is thus an extension of a classical binomial tree methodology to a framework within which the underlying security is allowed to default.

Book An Introduction To Computational Finance

Download or read book An Introduction To Computational Finance written by Ugur Omur and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2008-12-22 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there are several publications on similar subjects, this book mainly focuses on pricing of options and bridges the gap between Mathematical Finance and Numerical Methodologies. The author collects the key contributions of several monographs and selected literature, values and displays their importance, and composes them here to create a work which has its own characteristics in content and style. This invaluable book provides working Matlab codes not only to implement the algorithms presented in the text, but also to help readers code their own pricing algorithms in their preferred programming languages. Availability of the codes under an Internet site is also offered by the author. Not only does this book serve as a textbook in related undergraduate or graduate courses, but it can also be used by those who wish to implement or learn pricing algorithms by themselves. The basic methods of option pricing are presented in a self-contained and unified manner, and will hopefully help readers improve their mathematical and computational backgrounds for more advanced topics.Errata(s)Errata/a

Book Handbooks in Operations Research and Management Science Financial Engineering

Download or read book Handbooks in Operations Research and Management Science Financial Engineering written by John R. Birge and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-11-16 with total page 1026 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The remarkable growth of financial markets over the past decades has been accompanied by an equally remarkable explosion in financial engineering, the interdisciplinary field focusing on applications of mathematical and statistical modeling and computational technology to problems in the financial services industry. The goals of financial engineering research are to develop empirically realistic stochastic models describing dynamics of financial risk variables, such as asset prices, foreign exchange rates, and interest rates, and to develop analytical, computational and statistical methods and tools to implement the models and employ them to design and evaluate financial products and processes to manage risk and to meet financial goals. This handbook describes the latest developments in this rapidly evolving field in the areas of modeling and pricing financial derivatives, building models of interest rates and credit risk, pricing and hedging in incomplete markets, risk management, and portfolio optimization. Leading researchers in each of these areas provide their perspective on the state of the art in terms of analysis, computation, and practical relevance. The authors describe essential results to date, fundamental methods and tools, as well as new views of the existing literature, opportunities, and challenges for future research.

Book Weak Convergence of Financial Markets

Download or read book Weak Convergence of Financial Markets written by Jean-Luc Prigent and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive overview of weak convergence of stochastic processes and its application to the study of financial markets. Split into three parts, the first recalls the mathematics of stochastic processes and stochastic calculus with special emphasis on contiguity properties and weak convergence of stochastic integrals. The second part is devoted to the analysis of financial theory from the convergence point of view. The main problems, which include portfolio optimization, option pricing and hedging are examined, especially when considering discrete-time approximations of continuous-time dynamics. The third part deals with lattice- and tree-based computational procedures for option pricing both on stocks and stochastic bonds. More general discrete approximations are also introduced and detailed. Includes detailed examples.
