It contains the features and equation set of mesoscale atmospheric motions, the topographically forced mesoscale circulations, the gravity waves in free atmosphere, the front and jet stream, the mesoscale convective systems (MCSs), the atmospheric instability, the factors effecting the development of MCSs, mesoscale weather diagnosis and forecasting. This book provides many figures and basic formulas to help reader understanding the basic knowledge. What is mesoscale weather system? How the mesoscale systems influence severe disaster weather? How to forecast the mesoscale severe disaster weather? You will find the answers in it. This book will be of interest to both graduate students majoring in meteorology and the meteorological researchers.

Book Intertropical Convergence Zone Meteorology

Download or read book Intertropical Convergence Zone Meteorology written by Harold S. ROTH and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Intertropical Convergence Zone off the Pacific Coast of Central America was thoroughly examined during the period of 28 September to 14 October 1957, by aircraft from the Hurricane Hunters. Microwave radar and other accessory instrumentation were carried on these aircraft that could obtain three-dimensional patterns on cloud formations over thousands of square miles. Also, these radar obtained three-dimensional patterns on rain intensity of thunderstorms over this same area. A surface ship served as a weather stations to collect surface and upper air observations.

Book Compendium of Meteorology

Download or read book Compendium of Meteorology written by Thomas Malone and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-10 with total page 1304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objects of the American Meteorological Society are "the development and dissemination of knowledge of meteorology in all its phases and applications, and the advancement of its professional ideals." The organization of the Society took place in affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science at Saint Louis, Missouri, December 29, 1919, and its incorporation, at Washington, D. C., January 21, 1920. The work of the Society is carried on by the Bulletin, the Journal, and Meteorological Monographs, by papers and discussions at meetings of the Society, through the offices of the Secretary and the Executive Secretary, and by correspondence. All of the Americas are represented in the membership of the Society as well as many foreign countries.

Book Fundamentals of Meteorology

Download or read book Fundamentals of Meteorology written by Vlado Spiridonov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-05 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to the atmosphere of our planet, and discusses historical and contemporary achievements in meteorological science and technology for the betterment of society. The book explores many significant atmospheric phenomena and physical processes from the local to global scale, as well as from the perspective of short and long-term time scales, and links these processes to various applications in other scientific disciplines with linkages to meteorology. Book METEOROLOGY OF CLOUDS

    Book Details:
  • Author : L.L. Downing
  • Publisher : Author House
  • Release : 2013
  • ISBN : 1491804327
  • Pages : 159 pages

Download or read book METEOROLOGY OF CLOUDS written by L.L. Downing and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This publication is a presentation of cloud meteorology as experienced by a seasoned Aviation Meteorologist. It contains a comprehensive discussion of Cloud Meteorology, presenting explanations of cloud formation, cloud types and cloud dynamics, the atmospheric forces internal and external to cloud existence. It discusses the earths' atmospheric-chaotic-nature and it's impact on clouds and cloud systems. Clouds are visual indicators of the atmospheres' dynamics and related weather phenomena, and, to some extent, predictors of coming weather conditions. Clouds are beautiful icons of nature and at the same time, complicated creatures studied by meteorology. It is the authors' purpose to present the subject in a fashion comprehensible to both practicing meteorologist's, and also the weather-neophyte. This material requires no more than an avid interest in CLOUDS, and a grasp of the American language, to acquire much insight into the wonders of our cloud-form nuturing atmosphere."
