This book was released on 1981 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On its original publication in 1973, this book was the first reference for engineers to fully present the science of boiling and condensation. It dealt especially with the problems of estimating heat transfer rates and pressure drops, with particular attention to the occurrence of boiling and condensation in the presence of forced flows within pipes. • ISBN : 1475721757
  • Pages : 418 pages

Download or read book Convection in Porous Media written by D.A. Nield and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book we have tried to provide a user-friendly introduction to the topic of convection in porous media. We have assumed that the reader is conversant with the basic elements of fluid mechanics and heat transfer, but otherwise the book is self-contained. Only routine classical mathematics is employed. We hope that the book will be useful both as a review (for reference) and as a tutorial work (suitable as a textbook in a graduate course or seminar). This book brings into perspective the voluminous research that has been performed during the last two decades. The field has recently exploded because of worldwide concern with issues such as energy self-sufficiency and pollution of the environment. Areas of application include the insulation of buildings and equipment, energy storage and recovery, geothermal reservoirs, nuclear waste disposal, chemical reactor engineering, and the storage of heat-generating materials such as grain and coal. Geophysical applications range from the flow of groundwater around hot intrusions to the stability of snow against avalanches.

Download or read book Heat Transfer in Condensation and Boiling written by Karl Stephan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I welcome the opportunity to have my book translated, because of the great emphasis on two-phase flow and heat transfer in the English-speaking world, as related to research, university education, and industrial practice. The 1988 Springer-Verlag edition of "Warmeiibergang beim Kondensieren und beim Sieden" has been enlarged to include additional material on falling film evaporation (Chapter 12) and pressure drop in two-phase flow (Chapter 13). Minor errors in the original text have also been corrected. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Professor Green, Asso ciate Professor of German at Rensselaer, for his excellent translation and co operation. My thanks go also to Professor Bergles for his close attention to technical and linguistic details. He carefully read the typescript and made many comments and suggestions that helped to improve the manuscript. I hope that the English edition will meet with' a favorable reception and contribute to better understanding and to progress in the field of heat transfer in condensation and boiling. February 1992 K. Stephan Preface to the German-Language Edition This book is a continuation of the series "Heat and Mass Transfer" edited by U. Grigull, in which three volumes have already been published. Its aim is to acquaint students and practicing engineers with heat transfer during condensa tion and boiling, and is intended primarily for students and engineers in mechanical, chemical, electrical, and industrial processing engineering.

Book Forced Convection Flow Boiling and Two phase Flow Phenomena in a Microchannel

Download or read book Forced Convection Flow Boiling and Two phase Flow Phenomena in a Microchannel written by Yun Whan Na and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The present study was performed to numerically analyze the evaporation phenomena through the liquid-vapor interface and to investigate bubble dynamics and heat transfer behavior during forced convective flow boiling in a microchannel. Flow instabilities of two-phase flow boiling in a microchannel were studied as well. The main objective of this research is to investigate the fundamental mechanisms of two-phase flow boiling in a microchannel and provide predictive tools to design thermal management systems, for example, microchannel heat sinks. The numerical results obtained from this study were qualitatively and quantitatively compared with experimental results in the open literature.
