Cette étude est basée sur l'idée que le phénomène de vieillissement par oxydation est, en majeure partie, responsable de la perte d'efficacité anti-usure des huiles. Notre but à donc été d'apporter notre contribution à une meilleure connaissance de l'influence de l'oxydation de l'huile sur l'usure des moteurs. La première étape de cette étude à consisté à oxyder un certain nombre de lubrifiants et à mesurer leurs caractérisations physico-chimiques au cours de l'oxydation. Dans une deuxième étape, la capacité anti-usure des lubrifiants oxydés a été déterminée. Le vieillissement accéléré des huiles a été réalisé à l'aide d'un essai d'oxydation en laboratoire. L'efficacité anti-usure des huiles a été testée au moyen d'un essai tribologique simulant un contact came-poussoir équipant la génération des moteurs xu. La recherche d'une éventuelle corrélation entre les caractéristiques physicochimiques et les propriétés anti-usure d'une huile, a montré qu'un paramètre tel que la viscosité est en relation avec le niveau d'usure des huiles sélectionnées
