Download or read book Contribution l tude des tats excit s rovibrationnels de D2O et O3 par l analyse de spectres infrarouges haute r solution written by Eugeniya Starikova and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents the studies of the excited rovibrational states of D2O and O3 by the analyses of the high resolution spectra. The first part is dedicated to the D2160 isotopologue of the water molecule. The emission spectra have been recorded in the 320-520 cm-1 and 1800-5600 cm-1 spectral ranges. For the first time, the emission spectra at high temperature (1000-2000 K) have also been recorded. To correctly reproduce the set of the observed excited rovibrational states, the effective Hamiltonian uses the G-function. Our studies provide new information concerning the excited rovibrational states, as well as the spectroscopic assignment. The second part is dedicated to the 1803 isotopologue of the ozone molecule. The CRDS spectra have been recorded in the 5900-7000 cm-1 spectral range. The higher observed energy levels correspond to 82% of the dissociation energy of the molecule. The observations have been modelled by effective Hamiltonians including a large number of resonances between interacting vibrational states. These CRDS spectra allowed to study the isotopic shifts in vibrational levels of ozone du to the homogeneous substitution 1603-1803.

Book excerpt: LE TRAVAIL PRESENTE DANS CE MEMOIRE A PERMIS LA PREMIERE INTERPRETATION DES SPECTRES INFRAROUGES A HAUTE RESOLUTION DE 11 BANDES VIBRATIONNELLES DANS LA REGION DE 3000 A 5300 CM#-#1 DE LA MOLECULE #16#O#3. NOUS AVONS OBTENU DE NOMBREUSES INFORMATIONS EXPERIMENTALES POUR LES FREQUENCES ET LES INTENSITES DE CES TRANSITIONS ROVIBRATIONNELLES. L'ANALYSE MENEE A BIEN A MONTRE QUE CES BANDES SONT EN FORTES INTERACTIONS DE TYPE CORIOLIS ET ANHARMONIQUES. DANS LA REGION SUPERIEURE A 4000 CM#-#1 IL N'A PLUS LA POSSIBILITE DE SEPARATION EN POLYADES COMPLETES DANS LE SCHEMA CLASSIQUE. POUR POUVOIR INTERPRETER CORRECTEMENT LE SPECTRE EXPERIMENTAL ET REPRODUIRE LES VALEURS DES FREQUENCES ET DES INTENSITES IL EST NECESSAIRE D'INSERER DANS L'ANALYSE DES RESONANCES ACCIDENTELLES D'ORDRES SUPERIEURS. POUR LA MOLECULE H#2#1#6O NOUS AVONS ANALYSE LES SPECTRES INFRAROUGES A HAUTE RESOLUTION DANS UNE REGION TRES IMPORTANTE ET TRES INTERESSANTE 2500-6300 CM#-#1. D'ABORD, NOUS NOUS SOMMES INTERESSES AUX BANDES DE PLIAGES 2#2 ET 3#2 QUI ETAIENT RELATIVEMENT MAL CONNUES. NOTRE ANALYSE A PERMIS D'AUGMENTER LA GAMME DES NOMBRES QUANTIQUES J ET KA POUR LES NIVEAUX D'ENERGIES DES ETATS (020), (030) ET (110). ENSUITE, L'UTILISATION D'UN HAMILTONIEN DANS LA FORME DE LA FONCTION GENERATRICE A PERMIS UNE BONNE CONVERGENCE ENTRE EXPERIENCE ET CALCUL POUR LES NIVEAUX D'ENERGIES DES ETATS INTERAGISSANTS (020), (100), (001)

Book excerpt: OUTRE SON INTERET FONDAMENTAL POUR LA COMPREHENSION DE LA DYNAMIQUE INTRAMOLECULAIRE, L'ETUDE DE LA MOLECULE D'OZONE S'AVERE ETRE TRES IMPORTANTE COMPTE TENU DE SON IMPACT SUR LA PHYSICO-CHIMIE DE L'ATMOSPHERE TERRESTRE. LES TRAVAUX PRESENTES ICI S'INSCRIVENT DANS LE CADRE DE L'ANALYSE EXHAUSTIVE DU SPECTRE INFRAROUGE DE CETTE MOLECULE ET DE SES DERIVES ISOTOPIQUES, CONDUISANT AINSI AUX PARAMETRES SPECTROSCOPIQUES DE 57 ETATS VIBRATIONNELS. A L'AIDE DU SPECTROMETRE PAR TRANSFORMEE DE FOURIER DE L'UNIVERSITE DE REIMS, DE NOMBREUX SPECTRES ONT ETE ENREGISTRES POUR LES MOLECULES 1 6O 3, 1 8O 3, AINSI QUE POUR LES ISOTOPES MONOSUBSTITUES EN 1 6O ET 1 8O. LEUR ANALYSE A CONDUIT A L'INTERPRETATION D'UN GRAND NOMBRE DE BANDES VIBRATIONNELLES UTILISANT TRES SOUVENT UN MODELE D'INTERACTION EN POLYADE, TENANT COMPTE DES RESONANCES ANHARMONIQUES ET DE CORIOLIS. LES MOLECULES 1 6O 3 ET 1 8O 3 (VARIETE ISOTOPIQUE TOTALEMENT SUBSTITUEE) PRESENTENT LES MEMES PROPRIETES DE SYMETRIE ET ONT, PAR CONSEQUENT, DES STRUCTURES SPECTRALES SIMILAIRES. EN OUTRE, LES RESONANCES OBSERVEES PRESENTENT DES CARACTERISTIQUES COMMUNES : DANS LES DEUX CAS, LES SCHEMAS DE RESONANCES LIES A LA PROXIMITE 1 3 QUI PERMETTENT DE DECRIRE LES ETATS INFERIEURS, NE SEMBLENT PAS DIRECTEMENT EXTRAPOLABLES AUX ETATS EXCITES : CERTAINS COUPLAGES DEVIENNENT NEGLIGEABLES TANDIS QUE DE NOUVELLES RESONANCES ACCIDENTELLES DOIVENT ETRE INTRODUITES DANS LES MODELES. L'ETUDE DES BANDES DES ISOTOPES MONOSUBSTITUES EN 1 6O ET 1 8O EST RENDUE TRES DELICATE DU FAIT DE LA PRESENCE DE L'ENSEMBLE DE CES ESPECES DANS LA CELLULE. C'EST POURQUOI L'OBJECTIF A LE PLUS SOUVENT ETE LIMITE A LA DETERMINATION DES CENTRES DE BANDES AFIN DE COMPLETER LES INFORMATIONS NECESSAIRES A LA DETERMINATION

This book was released on 2000 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'ETUDE DES ETATS RO-VIBRATIONNELS ET DES INTENSITES DES RAIES SPECTRALES PEUT SE FAIRE EN UTILISANT SOIT L'APPROCHE PERTURBATIVE, SOIT L'APPROCHE GLOBALE. LA PREMIERE EST LA PLUS REPANDUE ET LA PLUS COURAMMENT UTILISEE POUR LE CALCUL DES ENERGIES DE ROTATION-VIBRATION ET DES INTENSITES DE TRANSITIONS. LA DEUXIEME APPROCHE EST L'APPROCHE GLOBALE POUVANT MODELISER L'ENSEMBLE DES ETATS ROVIBRATIONNELS ET DES INTENSITES DES RAIES SPECTRALES. L'APPROCHE UTILISEE DANS CETTE ETUDE EST L'APPROCHE GLOBALE MAIS EN UTILISANT UNE TECHNIQUE ACCELERANT LES CALCULS. CETTE TECHNIQUE, ASSOCIEE AUX CALCULS D'AJUSTEMENT DES PARAMETRES DU POTENTIEL RENDUS POSSIBLE GRACE AUX DONNEES INFRAROUGES TRES PRECISES OBTENUES A REIMS, A PERMIS D'OBTENIR UNE FONCTION POTENTIELLE TRES PRECISE POUR LA MOLECULE D'OZONE (O 3). LES CALCULS EN EXTRAPOLATION S'APPUYANT SUR UNE TELLE FONCTION MODELISENT LES ETATS ROVIBRATIONNELS TRES EXCITES AVEC UNE PRECISION JAMAIS ATTEINTE A CE JOUR AVEC UNE APPROCHE GLOBALE. L'ETUDE DES FONCTIONS D'ONDE POUR CES ETATS EST ALORS RENDUE POSSIBLE. LE COMPORTEMENT ASYMPTOTIQUE DE NOTRE FONCTION POTENTIELLE EST CORRECT ET PERMET DE DONNER UNE LIMITE DE DISSOCIATION EN ACCORD AVEC LES DONNEES OBSERVEES. L'APPROCHE GLOBALE EST APPLIQUEE AUSSI AU MOMENT DIPOLAIRE AFIN DE CALCULER LES INTENSITES DE TRANSITIONS. DE NOUVEAUX CALCULS AB INITIO, C'EST A DIRE BASES SUR LES PREMIERS PRINCIPES DE LA MECANIQUE QUANTIQUE, ONT ETE EFFECTUES POUR LE MOMENT DIPOLAIRE DE LA MOLECULE H 2S AFIN D'OBTENIR D'UNE PART UN POINT DE DEPART CORRECT EN VUE DE CALCULS D'AJUSTEMENT ET D'AUTRE PART AFIN DE MODELISER LES ANOMALIES OBSERVEES DANS LA DISTRIBUTION DES INTENSITES DANS LE SPECTRE INFRAROUGE DE CETTE MOLECULE. LES RESULTATS OBTENUS SUR LES INTENSITES SONT TRES PROMETTEURS ET POUR LA PREMIERE FOIS UN MOMENT DIPOLAIRE GLOBAL MET EN EVIDENCE LES ANOMALIES. L'APPROCHE GLOBALE DU MOMENT DIPOLAIRE APPLIQUEE A LA MOLECULE D'OZONE DONNE AUSSI DES RESULTATS ENCOURAGEANT SUR LES INTENSITES, AVEC DES PRECISIONS PROCHES DES PRECISIONS OBTENUES AVEC L'APPROCHE PERTURBATIVE DU MOMENT DIPOLAIRE.

This book was released on 2006 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Methods of Detecting Exoplanets

Download or read book Methods of Detecting Exoplanets written by Valerio Bozza and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-12 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, renowned scientists describe the various techniques used to detect and characterize extrasolar planets, or exoplanets, with a view to unveiling the “tricks of the trade” of planet detection to a wider community. The radial velocity method, transit method, microlensing method, and direct imaging method are all clearly explained, drawing attention to their advantages and limitations and highlighting the complementary roles that they can play in improving the characterization of exoplanets’ physical and orbital properties. By probing the planetary frequency at different distances and in different conditions, these techniques are helping astrophysicists to reconstruct the scenarios of planetary formation and to give robust scientific answers to questions regarding the frequency of potentially habitable worlds. Twenty years have passed since the discovery of a Jupiter-mass companion to a main sequence star other than the Sun, heralding the birth of extrasolar planetary research; this book fully conveys the exciting progress that has been achieved during the intervening period.

Book The Astronomical Revolution

Download or read book The Astronomical Revolution written by Alexandre Koyre and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in English in 1973. This volume traces the development of the revolution which so drastically altered man’s view of the universe in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The "astronomical revolution" was accomplished in three stages, each linked with the work of one man. With Copernicus, the sun became the centre of the universe. With Kepler, celestial dynamics replaced the kinematics of circles and spheres used by Copernicus. With Borelli the unification of celestial and terrestrial physics was completed by abandonment of the circle in favour the straight line to infinity.

Book Magnetoelectric Interaction Phenomena in Crystals

Download or read book Magnetoelectric Interaction Phenomena in Crystals written by Manfred Fiebig and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the quest for higher data density in information technology manipulation of magnetization by other means than magnetic fields has become an important challenge. This lead to a startling revival of the magnetoelectric effect, which characterizes induction of a polarization by a magnetic field or of a magnetization by an electric field. The magnetoelectric crosslink of material properties opens just those degrees of freedom which are needed for the mutual control of magnetic and electric states. The book gives a state-of-the-art review on magnetoelectrics research, classifies current research tendencies, and points out possible future trends. Novel compounds and growth techniques and new theoretical concepts for the understanding of magnetoelectric coupling phenomena are introduced. Highlights are the discovery of "gigantic" magnetoelectric effects which are strong enough to trigger electric or magnetic phase transitions; the concept of magnetochirality; and development "structural" magnetoelectric effects in artificial multiphase compounds. The book is addressed to condensed-matter physicists with a particular focus on experts in highly correlated systems.

Book Neutron Capture Gamma Ray Spectroscopy

Download or read book Neutron Capture Gamma Ray Spectroscopy written by R. E. Chrien and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-12-29 with total page 880 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The post World War II era witnessed a tremendous growth in the research carried out in neutron-induced reactions and especially in neutron capture y-ray studies. This growth was stimulated by the availability of neutron sources, such as reactors and accelerators, and by the development of high resolution y-ray and conversion electron detectors. Today the combination of high flux reactors and precise instrumentation has produced spectral data of exceptional quality, as the pages of these proceedings illustrate. The world-wide community of the practioners of the art of cap ture y-ray spectroscopy has met three times in the last decade: the first international symposium on this subject was held at Studsvik, Sweden in 1969, and the second at Petten, The Netherlands in 1974. A smaller meeting, of mostly u. S. and some European parti cipation, was held at Argonne National Laboratory in 1966. A perusal of the proceedings of these meetings shows the striking ad vances in this now mature field of physics over the last dozen years. Each meeting has seen a small but perceptible increase in the number of papers presented and the number of laboratories repre sented. More importantly, each meeting has documented the increasing impact of (n,y) reasearch, not only on other areas of basic physics, but also on commercial and medical applications of this technology. A total of 29 invited papers and 97 contributed papers were presented at this symposium.

Book Dynamics of Disordered Materials

Download or read book Dynamics of Disordered Materials written by Dieter Richter and published by Springer. This book was released on 1989 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of a workshop held at the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble in September 1988. Review articles and contributed papers survey recent theoretical and experimental developments on disordered materials and in particular on glasses. A large part of the book concerns the recently proposed mode-coupling approach to the behaviour of a viscous liquid around its glass transition, where the relevant dynamics extend over a broad range in time scales and the application of quite different experimental techniques becomes essential. Contributions report on experiments using dielectric relaxation, NMR or light scattering techniques, and especially neutron scattering techniques. One signature of disordered materials is the occurrence of an excess vibrational density of states at low frequencies. Some situations are presented where the density of states can be understood by taking into account the peculiarities of intra- and intermolecular motions. Another approach to the dynamics of disordered materials is the fracton picture, developed to describe the excitations of fractal objects. Several contributions discuss the dynamics of such fractals, studying mainly the vibrational density of states, and some discuss the application of the fracton concept to materials without a fractal structure like glasses.
