Book excerpt: Dans le domaine du raffinage du pétrole, l'une des unités de conversion les plus importantes est le craquage catalytique en lit fluidisé (FCC). A l'intérieur de celle-ci, le strippeur est une zone connue seulement de manière empirique où le catalyseur, contr-balayé par de la vapeur d'eau, est débarrassé des fractions légères d'hydrocarbures. C'est l'organe régulateur de la circulation du catalyseur dans l'unité. Une amélioration du strippage doit conduire à de meilleurs rendements et qualité de produits ainsi qu'à l'allègement des contraintes de fonctionnement. Le strippage du catalyseur est abordé en 1er lieu sur le plan chimique avec l'évolution cinétique des hydrocarbures entraînés et de la qualité des produits du craquage où il apparaît que le coke est une espèce réactive qui peut se transformer en gaz et en coke plus réfractaire avec la durée du strippage. En second lieu, est étudié l'aspect physique à travers le fonctionnement des lits fluidisés bullants. Des mesures d'efficacité de strippage utilisant des traceurs gazeux sont reliés aux propriétés des bulles dans cette zone. Le mécanisme d'échanges entre les bulles et la phase émulsion de catalyseur et de gaz est traité selon un modèle de transfert de matière conventionnel en lit fluidisé biphasique. Ces travaux s'appuient sur des expérimentations en micro-réacteurs et en maquette froide de grandes dimensions calqués sur les unités industrielles, ainsi que sur la mise au point de méthodologie, procédures et techniques d'études originales

Book excerpt: Le but de cette thèse est l'élaboration d'un modèle réactionnel de l'élévateur de craquage catalytique. Elle comprend premièrement l'étude hydrodynamique sur maquette froide de l'écoulement gaz-solide de l'élévateur. Pour cette étude une sonde de prélèvement isocinétique a été développée. Cette sonde permet la mesure simultanée de la vitesse locale de gaz et du flux local de catalyseur. D'autre part, une méthode de mesure de concentration de solide, la gammatomographie, combinée avec celle des prélèvements permet la description d'autres grandeurs locales comme la vitesse du catalyseur et la vitesse de glissement entre le gaz et les particules de catalyseur. Enfin des résultats obtenus sur site industriel viennent compléter la description de cet écoulement. L'élaboration du modèle réactionnel d'élévateur industriel repose donc sur un ensemble de données expérimentales, mais également sur un modèle cinétique du craquage, et sur un modèle d'écoulement des hydrocarbures dont le développement est initié par Martin (1990). Son modèle met en évidence l'importance du dispositif d'introduction des hydrocarbures. L'amélioration de ce modèle comprend une meilleure description des transferts de matière au sein de la phase solide et des profils de flux de solide et de coefficient de glissement plus réalistes. Ce modèle est capable de représenter les observations expérimentales obtenues sur les élévateurs industriels. Dans tous les cas un bon transfert au sein de la phase gazeuse, l'absence de structure cœur-anneau et en règle générale l'établissement d'un écoulement plus uniforme radialement tendent à augmenter le rendement en essence de l'unité de craquage catalytique
