Book excerpt: La mise en œuvre de nouvelles réglementations européennes en 1996 a révélé un besoin important en méthodes de conception de circuits prenant en compte les phénomènes de pollution électromagnétique. Dans le domaine de l'Electronique de Puissance, ce constat s'accompagne de la nécessité de disposer de modèles spécifiques d'interrupteurs capables de décrire les phénomènes observés lors des commutations. Les travaux présentés dans ce mémoire concernent la mise en œuvre et l'implantation dans le logiciel SABER de modèles physiques distribués de composants de puissance (I.G.B.T., diode) en vue de la simulation de convertisseurs pour la Compatibilité Electromagnétique (C.E.M.). Ces modèles, développés initialement au L.A.A.S. par l'équipe du Professeur LETURCQ, ont tout d'abord été validés sur des circuits classiques de l'Electronique de Puissance (hacheur série, gate charge) en situation normale puis extrême de fonctionnement (I.G.B.T. en court-circuit). Deux exemples d'apports de ces modèles pour la C.E.M. ont ensuite été étudiés : influence du recouvrement inverse de la diode sur le spectre du courant dans le hacheur série simulation de la Méthode de Commande à Dérivées Continues pour le gradateur à commande symétrique. Les résultats obtenus sont en accord avec ceux disponibles dans la littérature et valident l'utilisation de ces modèles pour la simulation C.E.M. de convertisseurs dans SABER. L'I.G.B.T. et la diode ont alors été couplés à des modèles équivalents de composants passifs, de commande et d'interconnexion pour simuler de façon globale le comportement d'un convertisseur: le hacheur série sur charge inductive. Les formes d'ondes obtenues ont permis de rendre compte du fonctionnement réel du circuit à la fois à l'échelle macroscopique et à l'échelle des commutations. Cette approche devrait aboutir à un véritable prototypage virtuel permettant la prévision des perturbations émises ou reçues par un circuit de puissance, et ce dès sa conception.

Ce peut être des phénomènes multiphysiques où se combinent des couplages EM et thermiques; il peut aussi s’agir d’architectures mulitéchelles comportant des composants de dimensions disproportionnées devant la longueur d’onde; ces interactions peuvent aussi concerner des configurations multiparamètres lorsque plusieurs éléments interviennent simultanément dans le calcul des perturbations EM. La thèse a consisté en la mise en place d’une méthode qui semble bien adaptée à la résolution de ces problèmes de CEM complexes. L’outil développé s’appuie sur l’utilisation de l’analyse tensorielle des réseaux électriques instaurée par G. Kron et qu’on envisage étendre à la CEM des systèmes complexes. Le raisonnement consiste à fusionner différents outils numériques de simulations existants, au moyen d’une méthodologie basée sur l’assimilation d’un grand système à un assemblage de circuits électriques équivalents. Circuits auxquels nous pourrons associer la résolution d’une équation contenant un super-tenseur impédance ainsi que des tenseurs fém et courants dont il faut s’efforcer de déterminer les règles de construction. A titre d’illustration, le couplage EM entre câbles, le blindage des lignes, les antennes et une cavité EM ont été simulé par le formalisme de Kron pour permettre la mise en forme d’une bibliothèque de sous-fonctions réutilisables pour l’étude de systèmes plus complexes

Pour ce faire, un modèle basé sur la théorie des antennes est développé temporel. Il permet de simuler à la fois les phénomènes électromagnétiques conduits et rayonnés. Sa mise en œuvre nécessite l'écriture de l'équation intégrale du champ électrique (EFIE). Pour simplifier celle-ci, l'approximation " fils fins " est utilisée. La formulation simplifiée est resolue par la méthode des moments, associée à l'utilisation de polynômes d'interpolation de Lagrange au second ordre pour le courant, en espace et en temps. Concernant les fonctions tests, on utilise des distributions de Dirac, méthode connue sous le nom la méthode de collocation. La formulation numérique est finalement implémentée en langage orienté objet JAVATM pour sa portabilité, sa fiabilité et sa robustesse. Le modèle développé permet le calcul des courants dans une structure filaire, et l'obtention des champs proches et lointains rayonnés. Des composants électroniques ou électriques, peuvent être insérés dans le modèle, de même que des sources de tension. L'insertion de composants non-linéaires tels que la diode a également été réalisée. Ils sont représentés par leur comportement haute fréquence en régime transitoire. L'étude de structures simples a permis de valider l'approche développée.

La simulation globale des cartes imprimées doit concilier le temps CPU d'une part, et la précision dans l'analyse des phénomènes physiques d'autre part. Notre voie de recherche s'est donc orientée vers le principe d'association de méthodes électromagnétiques. Le principal modèle étudié traite de la méthode des fils fins (MFF). Cette méthode est généralisée à toutes les configurations de circuits multicouches. Elle est rendue plus efficace par l'élaboration d'un critère de couplage dit de la matrice creuse et du principe de répartition non-linéaire des fils fins. Deux principales associations de méthodes électromagnétiques sont appliquées dans cette étude: l'association de la MFF avec le modèle distribué et la méthode variationnelle permet d'étendre la modélisation aux différents modes de propagation. la mise en place de relations de correspondance met en évidence les spécificités d'utilisation de la MFF et de la méthode de la matrice des lignes de transmission bidimensionnelle (TLM2D). Enfin, cette étude montre les extensions possibles du logiciel d'analyse dans la prise en compte de toutes les perturbations conduites et rayonnées. L'objectif final est de le généraliser à toutes les configurations de circuits imprimés, en adopant le principe d'association des méthodes électromagnétiques.

His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.
