Book Transmission Electron Microscopy in Micro nanoelectronics

Download or read book Transmission Electron Microscopy in Micro nanoelectronics written by Alain Claverie and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-01-29 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, the availability of bright and highly coherent electron sources and sensitive detectors has radically changed the type and quality of the information which can be obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEMs are now present in large numbers not only in academia, but also in industrial research centers and fabs. This book presents in a simple and practical way the new quantitative techniques based on TEM which have recently been invented or developed to address most of the main challenging issues scientists and process engineers have to face to develop or optimize semiconductor layers and devices. Several of these techniques are based on electron holography; others take advantage of the possibility of focusing intense beams within nanoprobes. Strain measurements and mappings, dopant activation and segregation, interfacial reactions at the nanoscale, defect identification and specimen preparation by FIB are among the topics presented in this book. After a brief presentation of the underlying theory, each technique is illustrated through examples from the lab or fab.

Book Soudure directe silicium sur silicium

Download or read book Soudure directe silicium sur silicium written by Damien Valente and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: LA PRESENCE D'UNE INTERFACE DE SOUDURE DIRECTE SUR SILICIUM DANS LA PARTIE ACTIVE D'UN COMPOSANT DE PUISSANCE INTELLIGENTE (GAMME DE HAUTE TENSION, 1000V-1500V, ET FORT COURANT 1A-20A) DEGRADE LES PERFORMANCES DE GAIN EN COURANT ET LA TENUE EN TENSION. CECI CONSTITUE LA PREMIERE EVIDENCE D'ACTIVITE ELECTRIQUE D'UNE TELLE INTERFACE. L'EXISTENCE D'ETATS D'INTERFACE CHARGES DANS LE PLAN DE SOUDURE EST A L'ORIGINE DE LA VARIATION DE PORTEURS DANS LE VOISINAGE DE L'INTERFACE, MESUREE PAR SPREADING RESISTANCE. LE TYPE ET LA NATURE DES DEFAUTS SONT DETERMINEES PAR LA CONTAMINATION RESIDUELLE (ANALYSEE PAR SPECTROSCOPIE DE MASSE DES IONS SECONDAIRES) ET LA STRUCTURE DE L'INTERFACE (EVALUEE PAR REVELATION CHIMIQUE AU WRIGHT ETCH, ET OBSERVATION EN MICROSCOPIE ELECTRONIQUE A BALAYAGE). PARMI LES PARAMETRES, LA PREPARATION DES SURFACES AVANT SOUDURE EST PRIMORDIALE. DANS LE CADRE DE LA THESE, UNE ETUDE DES SOLUTIONS CHIMIQUES A ETE ENTREPRISE. IL A ETE MONTRE QUE L'UTILISATION D'UNE SEQUENCE DE NETTOYAGE SPFM 500 PPM (SULFURIC ACID HYDROGEN PEROXIDE HYDROGEN FLUORIDE MIXTURE, A 500 PPM D'ACIDE FLUORHYDRIQUE) PERMET DE REALISER DES INTERFACES N/N AU PROFIL DE PORTEURS QUASI PLAT (BARRIERE INFERIEURE A L'ENERGIE D'AGITATION THERMIQUE KT), ET P/P SIMILAIRES A UN TRAITEMENT HYDROPHOBE. LA RECOMBINAISON DES PORTEURS SUR DES NIVEAUX PROFONDS D'INTERFACE SITUEE DANS LA BASE D'UN TRANSISTOR BIPOLAIRE DE PUISSANCE, EST SUSCEPTIBLE DE REDUIRE LE GAIN DE CELUI-CI. LA MESURE DE DUREE DE VIE DES PORTEURS MINORITAIRES SUR LA PLAQUETTE SOUDEE (PAR DECROISSANCE DE PHOTOCONDUCTIVITE DETECTEE PAR MICRO-ONDES : -PCD) PERMET DE METTRE EN EVIDENCE CE PHENOMENE. IL RESSORT DE CETTE ETUDE QU'IL EXISTE UNE ACTIVITE DE RECOMBINAISON CONTROLEE PAR LE VOLUME ET/OU L'INTERFACE DE SOUDURE, SELON LA PRESENCE DE DEFAUTS ETENDUS DANS LE VOLUME AVOISINANT.

Book Adhesion Between Polymers and Concrete Adh sion Entre Polym res Et B ton

Download or read book Adhesion Between Polymers and Concrete Adh sion Entre Polym res Et B ton written by H. R. Sasse and published by Springer. This book was released on 1986 with total page 792 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preface Adhesion is a phenomenon architects and civil engineers are not very familiar with. In other disciplines knowledge about surface properties and the background of bonding energies is also far from satisfactory; nevertheless there are many important· applications in concrete engineering, where adhesion is necessary for success and durability. These include: - coating and painting - repair of concrete surfaces - bonding of fresh to old concrete - crack injection - glueing of precast elements - glueing of steel to concrete, etc. In 1981 RILEM established the technical committee 52-RAC 'Resin Adherence to Concrete'. The main aims of the committee's work were - to collect research results and practical experiences - to initiate and coordinate research programs - to develop, on a scientific base, test methods for field and for laboratory purposes. One of the results of the committee's work is a state-of-the-art report, which will be presented orally as a General Report at the International Symposium ISAP '86, and will be printed either in the RILEM journal Materials and Structures or separately. Several test recommendations have been elaborated and will be prepared as drafts for the participants ofISAP '86. These are: - direct tensile test - pull-off test - direct shear test - slant shear test - four-point bending test - dynamic loading test - thermal compatibility test (two versions) - injectibility test.

Book Dictionary of Civil Engineering

Download or read book Dictionary of Civil Engineering written by Jean-Paul Kurtz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-09-14 with total page 1520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am pleased to present a work which marks a milestone in the history of public works and, more precisely, in that of permanent structures—a comprehensive dictionary of Civil Engineering terms. Since the beginning of time, Man has always tried to find a means to clear the obstacles which nature erected to displace him. With the first tree trunk thrown across a river, man sought to improve the crossing structure. After the invention of the wheel, and to satisfy his thirst for conquest (Roman ways), and comfort (aqueducts), man built bridges that became a preremptory necessity to move quickly. Thus, Man started to build wooden and masonry works. With the passing centuries, the builders became masters in the art of building masonry works. Then came the Industrial Revolution and the advent of the steel (1864), which was closely followed by the invention of the reinforced concrete (1855). The need for railways and improving the road network inspired great works of crossing such as viaducts and tunnels. The boom of the railway network and the development of the car required the construction of an increasing number of new structures. This phenomenon continues today with hundreds of structures built each year throughout the world.

Book From Microphysics to Macrophysics

Download or read book From Microphysics to Macrophysics written by Roger Balian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-26 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This popular, often cited text returns in a softcover edition to provide a thorough introduction to statistical physics and thermodynamics, and to exhibit the universal chain of ideas leading from the laws of microphysics to the macroscopic behaviour of matter. A wide range of applications illustrates the concepts, and many exercises reinforce understanding. Volume II applies statistical methods to systems governed by quantum effects, in particular to solid state physics, explaining properties due to the crystal structure or to the lattice excitations or to the electrons. The last chapters are devoted to non-equilibrium processes and to kinetic equations, with many applications included.

Book Four Laws That Drive the Universe

Download or read book Four Laws That Drive the Universe written by Peter Atkins and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2007-09-06 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The laws of thermodynamics drive everything that happens in the universe. From the sudden expansion of a cloud of gas to the cooling of hot metal, and from the unfurling of a leaf to the course of life itself - everything is directed and constrained by four simple laws. They establish fundamental concepts such as temperature and heat, and reveal the arrow of time and even the nature of energy itself. Peter Atkins' powerful and compelling introduction explains what the laws are and how they work, using accessible language and virtually no mathematics. Guiding the reader from the Zeroth Law to the Third Law, he introduces the fascinating concept of entropy, and how it not only explains why your desk tends to get messier, but also how its unstoppable rise constitutes the engine of the universe.

Book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals

Download or read book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals written by Agnes Buka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book intends to give a state-of-the-art overview of flexoelectricity, a linear physical coupling between mechanical (orientational) deformations and electric polarization, which is specific to systems with orientational order, such as liquid crystals. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.
