Book excerpt: Après avoir rappelé les grandes relations existant entre l'alimentation (énergétique, protéique et minéralo-vitaminique) et la reproduction des vaches laitières, une expérimentation est mise en route avec les objectifs suivants : établir une corrélation entre les valeurs d'urée du lait et les taux de gestation de vaches laitières de race Holstein puis comparer deux méthodes d'analyse de l'urée du lait (l'une de laboratoire à une autre, utilisable sur le terrain, employant des bandelettes AZOTEST ND). Les prélèvements de lait étaient issus de deux échantillons: un échantillon personnel (EP) constitué durant le stage (n=44 VL) et un échantillon (ES) constitué par SANOFI (n=150VL). Les prélèvements de lait étaient effectués le jour de l'insémination artificielle (= JO) pour les deux échantillons puis dix jours plus tard (=J10) et vingt et un jours plus tard (=J21) pour l'échantillon personnel. De ce fait, il paraissait intéressant de savoir lequel de ces trois prélèvements (J0, J10 ou J21) s'avérait le plus judicieux dans le cadre d'un suivi de reproduction du troupeau. Les concentrations moyennes d'urée du lait observées étaient basses (0,30 et 0,33 g/1 respectivement avec mesure au laboratoire et mesure avec AZOTEST ND).
