This book was released on 1996-01-15 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this symposium is to bring together scientists working on continuum theories of discrete mechanical and thermodynamical systems in the realm of mathematics, theoretical and applied mechanics, physics, material science and engineering. It aims to join together the divergent languages, questions and methods developed in the respective disciplines and to stimulate broad interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and results. The main topics, discussed in the lectures, concern thermodynamics, transport theory, statistical mechanics; continuum mechanics of complex fluids and deformable solids with microstructure; continuum theory of living structures; defect dynamics, synergetics, solitons, coherent structures; dislocations and plasticity; fundamentals of fracture mechanics.

Download or read book Advances in Mathematical Modelling of Composite Materials written by Konstantin Z. Markov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains papers of leading experts in the modern continuum theory of composite materials. The papers expose in detail the newest ideas, approaches, results and perspectives in this broadly interdisciplinary field ranging from pure and applied mathematics, mechanics, physics and materials science. The emphasis is on mathematical modelling and model analysis of the mechanical behaviour and strength of composites, including methods of predicting effective macroscopic properties (dielectric, elastic, nonlinear, inelastic, plastic and thermoplastic) from known microstructures.

Download or read book Deformation Processes of Rigid Plastic Materials written by Sergei Alexandrov and published by Trans Tech Publications. This book was released on 2009 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters BCI (WoS).This special issue presents a series of papers written of a group of leading scientists working in the field of the mechanics of plastic deformation. The collection covers a broad spectrum of topics including: pressure-dependent plasticity, elastic-plastic deformation of thin plates, metal-forming analysis and design, constitutive behavior near to frictional interfaces and new developments in the upper-bound method. No reader working in this general field can fail to find something of interest within. Alexandrov (Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences) compiles nine papers by scientists working in the field of mechanics of plastics deformation in Europe and Asia, who discuss pressure-dependent plasticity, elastic-plastic deformation of thin plates, metal-forming analysis and design, constitutive behavior near frictional interfaces, and new developments in the upper-bound method.
Download or read book Continuum Models for Materials with Microstructure written by H.-B. Mühlhaus and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuum Models for Materials with Microstructure Edited by H. B. Mühlhaus, CSIRO, Nedlands, Australia When the characteristic length-scale (‘fabric dimension’) of the microstructure of materials is not small when compared to the macroscopic dimensions, the well established framework for the modelling of deformation processes for simple materials needs enhancement. To introduce an internal length scale, one has to resort to continuum models such as Nonlocal Theories, Cosserat or Gradient-type Models, Discrete Element and Lattice Theories or modified Viscoplastic Models. These new approaches are addressed in this volume. It includes contributions from research areas as diverse as bio-mechanics, concrete engineering and solid state physics. Generalised continuum models and its applications are presented and complemented by numerical and analytical tools for the solution of boundary value problems.
