Book Handbook of Hot dip Galvanization

Download or read book Handbook of Hot dip Galvanization written by Peter Maaß and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-03-31 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hot-dip galvanization is a method for coating steel workpieces with a protective zinc film to enhance the corrosion resistance and to improve the mechanical material properties. Hot-dip galvanized steel is the material of choice underlying many modern buildings and constructions, such as train stations, bridges and metal domes. Based on the successful German version, this edition has been adapted to include international standards, regulations and best practices. The book systematically covers all steps in hot-dip galvanization: surface pre-treatment, process and systems technology, environmental issues, and quality management. As a result, the reader finds the fundamentals as well as the most important aspects of process technology and technical equipment, alongside contributions on workpiece requirements for optimal galvanization results and methods for applying additional protective coatings to the galvanized pieces. With over 200 illustrated examples, step-by-step instructions, presentations and reference tables, this is essential reading for apprentices and professionals alike.

Book Steel Designers Manual

Download or read book Steel Designers Manual written by SCI (Steel Construction Institute) and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-27 with total page 1410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2010 the then current European national standards for building and construction were replaced by the EN Eurocodes, a set of pan-European model building codes developed by the European Committee for Standardization. The Eurocodes are a series of 10 European Standards (EN 1990 – EN 1999) that provide a common approach for the design of buildings, other civil engineering works and construction products. The design standards embodied in these Eurocodes will be used for all European public works and are set to become the de-facto standard for the private sector in Europe, with probable adoption in many other countries. This classic manual on structural steelwork design was first published in 1955, since when it has sold many tens of thousands of copies worldwide. For the seventh edition of the Steel Designers' Manual all chapters have been comprehensively reviewed, revised to ensure they reflect current approaches and best practice, and brought in to compliance with EN 1993: Design of Steel Structures (the so-called Eurocode 3).

It is the first document to provide extensive life-span assessments (for insurance purposes) for a wide range of building components which are classified within the concept of quality specifications. A further benefit is that it does not seek to be prescriptive. It indicative 'benchmarks' against which new or differing specifications can be assessed, in that sense it is both robust and flexible.

Book International Structural Steel Sections

Download or read book International Structural Steel Sections written by Boris Androic and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2000-05-31 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For some years now, steel construction has no longer been the reserve of specialists. To take advantage of all the possibilities offered by the modern steel industry in terms of a good fit of shape and material, the first rough design plays an important part in planning any structure. Tender or offer specifications based on Eurocode 3 will hopefully open the way to competitiveness using the international reasonable steel market. This book contains a short annotation about steel grades and qualities, followed by a basic introduction to the European safety concept, 104 tables for all European rolled sections, a selection of British and American sections, hot-rolled and cold-formed hollow sections as well as tables giving data on dimensions, properties and classification, design resistance, design buckling resistance and design lateral torsional buckling resistance moment under two different load conditions, based on the European buckling curves. These tables allow preliminary design, profile selection or a quick safety check of various structural members, so as to avoid time-consuming computer analysis, or to check the plausibility of results so obtained.
