Book Recovery Plan for the Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Delphinapterus Leucas

Download or read book Recovery Plan for the Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Delphinapterus Leucas written by United States. National Marine Fisheries Service. Alaska Regional Office. Protected Resources Division and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The goal of this recovery plan is to guide efforts that achieve the recovery of CI belugas to a level sufficient to warrant their removal from the federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants under the ESA (i.e., delist) by meeting the recovery criteria and addressing threats. The intermediate goal is to guide efforts that result in reclassification of CI belugas from endangered to threatened (i.e., downlist). The determinations regarding whether these goals are met include consideration of the population's risk of extinction and threats as identified under the ESA section 4(a)(1) factors. If a species is determined to be recovered, then the protections afforded by the ESA no longer apply, although other pertinent federal (e.g., MMPA) and state protections will still apply."--PDF page xiv-xv.

Book Endangered and Threatened Species Designation of Critical Habitat for Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Us National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Regulation Noaa 2018 Edition

Download or read book Endangered and Threatened Species Designation of Critical Habitat for Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Us National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Regulation Noaa 2018 Edition written by The Law Library and published by . This book was released on 2018-12-14 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Law Library presents the complete text of the Endangered and Threatened Species - Designation of Critical Habitat for Cook Inlet Beluga Whale (US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Regulation) (NOAA) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 We, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), designate critical habitat for the Cook Inlet beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) distinct population segment (DPS) under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Two areas are designated, comprising 7,800 square kilometers (3,013 square miles) of marine habitat. In developing this final rule we considered public and peer review comments, as well as economic impacts and impacts to national security. We have decided in the final rule to exclude the Port of Anchorage (POA) in consideration of national security interest. Additionally, consistent with the proposed rule, portions of military lands were determined to be ineligible for designation as critical habitat. We solicited comments from the public on all aspects of the proposed rule, and conducted four public hearings on the action. Along with the proposed rule, we published a draft economic impacts analysis, entitled "Draft RIR/4(b)(2) Preparatory Assessment/IFRA for the Critical Habitat Designation of Cook Inlet Beluga Whale." This economic analysis has been completed to support the final designation. See "Final RIR/4(b)(2) Preparatory Assessment/FRFA for the Critical Habitat Designation of Cook Inlet Beluga Whale" for a discussion of these topics. This ebook contains: - The complete text of the Endangered and Threatened Species - Designation of Critical Habitat for Cook Inlet Beluga Whale (US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Regulation) (NOAA) (2018 Edition) - A dynamic table of content linking to each section - A table of contents in introduction presenting a general overview of the structure

Book Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Study Study Plan Section 9 17 Initial Study Report

Download or read book Cook Inlet Beluga Whale Study Study Plan Section 9 17 Initial Study Report written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information is needed regarding Cook Inlet beluga whales and their prey in the Susitna River and delta in order to facilitate future analysis of the potential effects that may result from the construction and operation of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project. The goals of this study are threefold: (1) to provide current, fine scale information on Cook Inlet beluga whale distribution and movements within the Susitna River delta, (2) to correlate these data with information on the ecology and habitat parameters of Cook Inlet beluga whale prey species, including eulachon and Pacific salmon, and (3) to record incidental observations of all marine mammals sighted during beluga whale studies. This document details Alaska Energy Authority's status in implementing the study as set forth in the FERC-approved Revised study plan and as modified by FERC's Study plan determination issued February 1, 2013. The study area includes the upper portion of the Cook Inlet, the Susitna River delta, and the river up to river mile 50.
