Download or read book Toe Driven Tapered Fiber Reinforced Polymer Self Consolidating Concrete Composite Piles written by M. Nehdi and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field experience shows that it has been often difficult to assure the structural integrity and uniformity of the cross-sectional area of cast-in-place concrete piles since cavities and soil pockets tend to form due to the lack of visibility and accessibility during construction. Moreover, corrosion in pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and steel shell piles has been very costly, exceeding.

Book Full Scale Field Tests of Different Types of Piles

Download or read book Full Scale Field Tests of Different Types of Piles written by Jialin Zhou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides full-scale field tests of different types of pile foundations. For the testing, it includes static load tests which consider various loading orientations, dynamic load tests, inclinometer monitoring and tests that aim to determine the load transfer mechanism of pile foundation. This book also covers the up-to-date popular topic with detailed project studies. This includes the academic investigation of post-grouting technology effect on drilled shaft piles, the research of displacement and non-displacement precast pile foundation, the study of fiber-reinforced polymer material used in the geo-technical environment such as deep excavation pit in tunneling project, and the research of super-long and large diameter pile foundations. These investigations provide essential and academic information for researchers as well as engineers in role of Civil and Geotech. Not only the different types of the piles are studied, but also the relevant theory and literatures are reviewed. In this book, the diagrams are plotted in an easy way and the explanation of the diagrams and tables are described in detail. The research methods corresponding to the practical projects are detailed as well. Hence, it is useful as a reference for the students and researchers in civil and geotechnical engineering.

This book was released on 2008-11-05 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High strength fibre composites (FRPs) have been used with civil structures since the 1980s, mostly in the repair, strengthening and retrofitting of concrete structures. This has attracted considerable research, and the industry has expanded exponentially in the last decade. Design guidelines have been developed by professional organizations in a nu

Book Composites for Construction

Download or read book Composites for Construction written by Lawrence C. Bank and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-07-21 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first textbook on the design of FRP for structural engineering applications Composites for Construction is a one-of-a-kind guide to understanding fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and designing and retrofitting structures with FRP. Written and organized like traditional textbooks on steel, concrete, and wood design, it demystifies FRP composites and demonstrates how both new and retrofit construction projects can especially benefit from these materials, such as offshore and waterfront structures, bridges, parking garages, cooling towers, and industrial buildings. The code-based design guidelines featured in this book allow for demonstrated applications to immediately be implemented in the real world. Covered codes and design guidelines include ACI 440, ASCE Structural Plastics Design Manual, EUROCOMP Design Code, AASHTO Specifications, and manufacturer-published design guides. Procedures are provided to the structural designer on how to use this combination of code-like documents to design with FRP profiles. In four convenient sections, Composites for Construction covers: * An introduction to FRP applications, products and properties, and to the methods of obtaining the characteristic properties of FRP materials for use in structural design * The design of concrete structural members reinforced with FRP reinforcing bars * Design of FRP strengthening systems such as strips, sheets, and fabrics for upgrading the strength and ductility of reinforced concrete structural members * The design of trusses and frames made entirely of FRP structural profiles produced by the pultrusion process

Book Development and Demonstration of FRP Composite Fender Loadbearing and Sheet Piling Systems

Download or read book Development and Demonstration of FRP Composite Fender Loadbearing and Sheet Piling Systems written by Richard Lampo and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional piling systems are inherently unsuited for harsh waterfront environments. Deterioration of wood, concrete, and steel piling systems is estimated to cost the U.S. military and civilian marine and waterfront communities over $1 billion annually. Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites represent an alternative construction material without many of the performance disadvantages of traditional materials as described above. A proposal was submitted to develop composite piling systems under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Construction Productivity Advancement Research (CPAR) Program. This CPAR Project developed, tested, and demonstrated high-performance polymer composite fender, load-bearing, and sheet pile (bulkheads) systems for marine/waterfront civil engineering applications. In phase one, mechanical, operating, and physical performance requirements were established. In phase two, laboratory tests were conducted to assess the preliminary designs. Promising designs were further developed and tested. Selected fender piles that met the established requirements, as determined by the laboratory tests, were installed in a field demonstration. Development and adoption of industry consensus specifications and standards for composite piling systems was initiated. The Composites Institute and member manufacturers have promoted and will continue to promote the commercialization of the composite pilings developed under this project.
