Download or read book Formulation Characterization and Stability of Protein Drugs written by Rodney Pearlman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leading scientists offer detailed profiles of ten protein drugs currently in development. The case histories of these important new compounds are described from the perspective of their formulation, characterization, and stability. This ready reference also features recent data and an abundance of previously unpublished information. The in-depth coverage includes a highly useful compendium of degradation sites occurring in over 70 proteins. An invaluable aid in the rapid identification of potential `hot spots' in proteins, this accessible compilation allows for inspection of the protein's primary structure and preparation of a hydroflex plot.

Download or read book Topics in Anti Cancer Research written by Atta-ur-Rahman and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2015-10-21 with total page 818 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the fourth volume of the eBook Series entitled Topics in Anti-Cancer Research. This volume covers new research as well as updated chapters on topics relevant to modern cancer research published in the journal Recent Patents on Anti-Cancer Drug Discovery. Interesting diverse methods, new technologies and fast developing areas in the field of anti-cancer research are presented. The topics included in the present volume will be of great value to clinicians, scientists and R&D experts aiming to learn more about the latest developments and new alternatives for different types of cancer treatment. The use of gold macro rods and ultrasound for cancer treatment with hyperthermia, obesity associated breast cancer, and the role of cytokines and chemokines pathways in studying cancer immunotherapy are discussed. The mechanism of antibody-drug and antibody-toxin conjugates alongwith clinical trials research, significance of transforming growth factor-beta and urokinase type plasminogen activator in tumorigenesis and reverstol studies in oncohematological disorders are also presented. Other important areas covered include the discovery of novel compounds, drugs and chemotherapeutics in the treatment of lung cancer, biological functions of cell surface nucleolin in cancer, polymeric nanosystems and nanosystem applications used for anticancer drug therapy. Recent advances in development of new potent tubulin inhibitors and structures of molecular hybrids and their actions in different cell lines have also been discussed. All these studies focused are supported by recent associated patents The topics covered in this fourth volume will be of immense interest for those researchers and scientists looking for new techniques, targets, drugs, compounds and drug delivery methods for various types of cancer and its control.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several books on the market cover combinatorial techniques, but they offer just a limited perspective of the field, focusing on selected aspects without examining all approaches and integrated technologies. Combinatorial Chemistry and Technologies: Methods and Applications answers the demand for a complete overview of the field, covering all of the
Download or read book Fibronectins written by Richard O. Hynes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fibronectins comprise a class of high molecular weight glycoproteins present both in extracellular matrices and in soluble form in body fluids. Although they have been studied for about forty years, their real significance emerged only during the past decade. Intensive research has focused on their role in platelet function, cell migration, the cytoskeleton, reticuloendothelial function, and on alterations in fibronectin distribution during development and disease. Fibronectins have emerged as glycoproteins with a very interesting set of properties generally involving adhesion of cells to cells or to extracellular material. In more recent years, the complete sequences of several fibronectin molecules and their genes were determined, the relation between structure and function was understood and much has been learned about cell surface receptors for fibronectins and other adhesive ligands. Having been at the forefront of all these exciting developments, the author has synthesized the entire field and with all the latest information at hand for the first time given it a clear perspective.

Download or read book Characterization of Protein Therapeutics using Mass Spectrometry written by Guodong Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights current approaches and future trends in the use of mass spectrometry to characterize protein therapies. As one of the most frequently utilized analytical techniques in pharmaceutical research and development, mass spectrometry has been widely used in the characterization of protein therapeutics due to its analytical sensitivity, selectivity, and specificity. This book begins with an overview of mass spectrometry techniques as related to the analysis of protein therapeutics, structural identification strategies, quantitative approaches, followed by studies involving characterization of process related protein drug impurities/degradants, metabolites, higher order structures of protein therapeutics. Both general practitioners in pharmaceutical research and specialists in analytical sciences will benefit from this book that details step-by-step approaches and new strategies to solve challenging problems related to protein therapeutics research and development.

Download or read book Epidermolysis Bullosa written by Andrew N. Lin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because skin blisters are the initial manifestation of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), patients invariably present to the dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. However, EB is a systemic disease whose management requires input from clinicians in virtually all fields of medicine, including pediatri cians, surgeons, dentists, gastroenterologists, hematologists, otorhinolaryn gologists, dietitians, and physical therapists, to name a few. Because EB is a rare disease, few clinicians are familiar with it, and many recoil at the pros pect of caring for individuals covered with blisters caused by a disease they know little about. For patients, insult is thus added to injury and they feel abandoned, neglected, and frustrated. One way to remedy this deplorable situation is to provide clinicians with a compact source of information de tailing the principles of EB diagnosis and treatment. This text seeks to fulfill this role. From 1986-1991, The Rockefeller University Hospital has been the co ordinating center of the National EB Registry. Supported by The National Institutes of Health, this Registry consists of four university centers* commit ted to collecting clinical data concerning diagnosis, treatment, and epidemio logy on all American EB patients. As of April 1992, nearly 1,799 EB patients have enrolled nationwide. The Registry is now in its second five-year phase of operation.
