Spreadsheets are an essential professional and academic asset and a useful personal tool. This book tells readers everything they need to know to get started creating spreadsheets for various tasks and utilities; plugging in relevant data; maintaining, updating, and revising the spreadsheet; and drawing accurate conclusions from the processed data. With step-by-step instructions for various standard tasks, this book makes working with spreadsheets both fun and easy.

Book Statistical Analysis and Decision Making Using Microsoft Excel

Download or read book Statistical Analysis and Decision Making Using Microsoft Excel written by Grace Edmar Elizar del Prado and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2014-06-02 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manuscript contains various approaches in interpreting data and how the unearthed pieces of information be used as practical inputs for decision making. With the aid of Microsoft Excel, presented in a step-by-step manner, data sets that differ in kind, probability, and distributions are analyzed and interpreted with a framework of solidifying fundamental understanding of data analysis and of carrying through these skills in the daily administration of decisions in managing production, people, money, and all forms of resources. This book hopes to complement with the other existing books in research and statistics that prefer to treat problems manually and explain applications theoretically. Students doing basic high school research will benefit from this book. College and graduate students who are doing a classroom research activity will also take full advantage of this. However, some novice researchers and professionals may find this manuscript equally useful; and those others who decided to dislike mathematics but found awe in it nonetheless. This book is really for them.

Book Taxonomy for the Technology Domain

Download or read book Taxonomy for the Technology Domain written by and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educators have come to embrace the classification system for the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains for teaching. However, with the advent of multimedia, interactive, student-focused, instructional technologies, the need to push the envelope of teaching with technology has surfaced a new domain for technology is needed to take advantage of this newest strategy for teaching and learning. Many educators accept teaching with technology as perhaps the most important instructional strategy to impact the classroom since the introduction of the textbook. The Taxonomy for the Technology Domain suggests a new classification system that includes literacy, collaboration, decision-making, infusion, integration, and technology. As with most taxonomies, each step offers a progressively more sophisticated level of complexity by constructing increasingly multifaceted objectives addressing increasingly complex student learning outcomes. The Taxonomy for the Technology Domain affects all aspects of how technology is used in elementary and secondary classrooms, corporate training rooms, and higher education classrooms.

Book The Deductive Spreadsheet

    Book Details:
  • Author : Iliano Cervesato
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-09-06
  • ISBN : 3642377475
  • Pages : 423 pages

Download or read book The Deductive Spreadsheet written by Iliano Cervesato and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-09-06 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes recent multidisciplinary research at the confluence of the fields of logic programming, database theory and human-computer interaction. The goal of this effort was to develop the basis of a deductive spreadsheet, a user productivity application that allows users without formal training in computer science to make decisions about generic data in the same simple way they currently use spreadsheets to make decisions about numerical data. The result is an elegant design supported by the most recent developments in the above disciplines. The first half of the book focuses on the deductive engine that underlies this application, the foundations that users do not see. After giving a mathematical model of traditional spreadsheet applications, we extend them with operators to perform a number of relational tasks, similar to the user view of a database but in a spreadsheet context. Expressing this extension in a logic programming framework is a natural step towards giving it powerful deductive capabilities. The second half of the book deals with the user interface, the part of the application with which the user actually interacts. We review the elements of the graphical user interface of traditional spreadsheet applications and describe practical methodologies for designing user interfaces borrowed from the field of cognitive psychology. We then propose a design that conservatively integrates mechanisms for a user to take advantage of the new deductive capabilities. This is followed by the results of some preliminary usability experiments. The book will appeal to researchers and practitioners in the various areas underlying this work. Researchers will not only find interesting new developments in their domains, but will also learn how to achieve a multidisciplinary focus. Practitioners will find fully developed solutions to numerous problems that are not easily solvable using traditional spreadsheet applications.

Book Building Mathematical Models in Excel

Download or read book Building Mathematical Models in Excel written by Christopher Teh Boon Sung and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2015-05-18 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for agriculturists, many of whom are either novices or non-computer programmers, about how they can build their mathematical models in Microsoft Excel. Of all modeling platforms, spreadsheets like Excel require the least proficiency in computer programming. This book introduces an Excel add-in called BuildIt (available for free as download) that shields users from having to use Excel's VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming language and yet allows agriculturists to build simple to large complex models without having to learn complicated computer programming techniques or to use sophisticated Excel techniques. This book first discusses how BuildIt works and how it is used to build models. Examples range from the simple to progressively more complex mathematical models. Ultimately, readers are taught how to build a generic crop growth model from its five core components: meteorology, canopy photosynthesis, energy balance, soil water, and crop growth development. Ultimately, agriculturists will be able to build their own mathematical models in Excel and concentrate more on the science and mathematics of their modeling work rather than being distracted by the intricacies of computer programming.
