Book Constant and Cyclic Load Creep Tests of Several Materials

Download or read book Constant and Cyclic Load Creep Tests of Several Materials written by Ward F. Simmons and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This investigation was made to determine whether alternate periods of load and rest would have the same effect as continuous loading on the deformation characteristics of metals at elevated temperatures. Constant-load and cyclic-load creep tests were made on sheet specimens of 24S-T3 and 24S-T81 aluminum alloys at 300 F, SAE 4130 steel at 800 F, and AISI 310 stainless steel at 1500 F. The test results indicate that under the conditions of these tests cycling the load did not increase the rate of creep of the materials tested. Also since none of the cyclic-load tests had creep rates less than one half the rate of the constant-load test, there was no evidence of recovery taking place during the low-load part of the cycle. Specimens of 24S-T3 showed less creep deformation during the first ten hours of the tests than did the corresponding tests of 24S-T81 alloy, although subsequent creep rates were essentially the same. The data obtained, although incomplete, indicate that it is probably safe to design for cyclic-load conditions using data from constant-load tests.

Book Determination of the Creep Deflection and Lifetime of Aluminum alloy Multiweb Box Beams Subjected to Varied Loads at Constant Temperature

Download or read book Determination of the Creep Deflection and Lifetime of Aluminum alloy Multiweb Box Beams Subjected to Varied Loads at Constant Temperature written by Avraham Berkovits and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method was developed for computing the deflection and lifetime of multiweb box beams subjected to creep under varied loads at constant temperatures. The method of analysis is based on the life-fraction rule and materials creep data obtained from constant-load and constant- temperature tensile creep tests. Calculated deflection and lifetime results are compared with corresponding test data from multiweb box beams fabricated from 2O24-T3 aluminum-alloy sheet and tested at 400 F under cyclic creep loads. An equivalent-stress concept is utilized in a portion of this study to reduce the varied-load creep problem to creep under constant stress.

Book Tabulation of Mass flow Parameters for Use in Design of Turbomachine Blade Rows for Ratios of Specific Heats of 1 3 and 1 4

Download or read book Tabulation of Mass flow Parameters for Use in Design of Turbomachine Blade Rows for Ratios of Specific Heats of 1 3 and 1 4 written by Warren J. Whitney and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 716 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mass-flow tables for ratios of specific heats of 1.3 and 1.4 are presented for the entire range of critical velocity ratio. The tables enable a quick and accurate determination of the integrated average specific mass flow across a region where the end-point velocities are known, commensurate with the assumptions that the total state is constant and the static pressure varies linearly between the two velocities. A numerical example is included to illustrate the use of the tables. All quantities are in nondimensional form and are tabulated sgainst critical velocity ratio. The tables include specific-mass-flow parameter and ratio of static to total pressure.

Book Inelastic Behavior of Materials and Structures Under Monotonic and Cyclic Loading

Download or read book Inelastic Behavior of Materials and Structures Under Monotonic and Cyclic Loading written by Holm Altenbach and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents studies on the inelastic behavior of materials and structures under monotonic and cyclic loads. It focuses on the description of new effects like purely thermal cycles or cases of non-trivial damages. The various models are based on different approaches and methods and scaling aspects are taken into account. In addition to purely phenomenological models, the book also presents mechanisms-based approaches. It includes contributions written by leading authors from a host of different countries.
