  • ISBN : 0648260631
  • Pages : 256 pages

Download or read book Aromatree written by Salvatore Battaglia and published by Black Pepper Creative. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aromatherapy is one of the most popular forms of natural therapies available to us. What makes essential oils so exciting is that they are the only ‘plant-based remedies’ that work on all levels of our wellbeing — our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing. As an aromatherapy educator, I often notice how frustrated people become when they have to learn the individual properties and actions of essential oils. The aromatree identifies the relationships that exist between the individual essential oils and the different parts of a plant such as leaves, roots, resin, wood, fruits, seed or flowers. In Aromatree, we examine the relationship and pattern between the botany of the plant, traditional folklore, symbolism, mythology of plants, aroma, chemistry, pharmacology, essential oil safety, our psyche, our personality, the chakras, the energetics according to traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, and blending tips. Aromatree embraces all aspects of aromatherapy. Whether you are a beginner or a professional aromatherapist, you will gain an incredible insight into using essential oils.

Book Ecological Stoichiometry

    Book Details:
  • Author : Robert W. Sterner
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2017-02-15
  • ISBN : 1400885698
  • Pages : 465 pages

Download or read book Ecological Stoichiometry written by Robert W. Sterner and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-15 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All life is chemical. That fact underpins the developing field of ecological stoichiometry, the study of the balance of chemical elements in ecological interactions. This long-awaited book brings this field into its own as a unifying force in ecology and evolution. Synthesizing a wide range of knowledge, Robert Sterner and Jim Elser show how an understanding of the biochemical deployment of elements in organisms from microbes to metazoa provides the key to making sense of both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. After summarizing the chemistry of elements and their relative abundance in Earth's environment, the authors proceed along a line of increasing complexity and scale from molecules to cells, individuals, populations, communities, and ecosystems. The book examines fundamental chemical constraints on ecological phenomena such as competition, herbivory, symbiosis, energy flow in food webs, and organic matter sequestration. In accessible prose and with clear mathematical models, the authors show how ecological stoichiometry can illuminate diverse fields of study, from metabolism to global change. Set to be a classic in the field, Ecological Stoichiometry is an indispensable resource for researchers, instructors, and students of ecology, evolution, physiology, and biogeochemistry. From the foreword by Peter Vitousek: ? "[T]his book represents a significant milestone in the history of ecology. . . . Love it or argue with it--and I do both--most ecologists will be influenced by the framework developed in this book. . . . There are points to question here, and many more to test . . . And if we are both lucky and good, this questioning and testing will advance our field beyond the level achieved in this book. I can't wait to get on with it."

Book The Leaf Supply Guide to Creating Your Indoor Jungle

With this stunningly photographed greenery guide, anyone can master the art of making your living room thrive. When done correctly, curating any decent houseplant can be just as effective as hanging a beautiful work of art. After all, our green companions are known to be beneficial for mental health and for general health (being oxygenators), as well as a key element of any well-balanced interior. Lauren and Sophia run the wildly successful nursery and interior-design store Leaf Supply, in Sydney, Australia. They wrote a beautifully designed book by the same name in 2018. Now, with Indoor Jungle, they explain (in layperson's terms) how to best transform your house into a veritable greenhouse. In this sequel of sorts, Lauren and Sophia cast their plant-loving net far wider than simply fabulous Australian interiors, featuring jungle-y architecture from around the world! For each spread of beautifully verdant interiors, the duo breaks down how the foliage within is surviving (and thriving). Ablaze with jaw-dropping photography, Indoor Jungle will deserve its own prominent place in your new, improved, and jungleified living room.

Book Computer Vision ECCV 2010

Download or read book Computer Vision ECCV 2010 written by Kostas Daniilidis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-09-08 with total page 828 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2010 edition of the European Conference on Computer Vision was held in Heraklion, Crete. The call for papers attracted an absolute record of 1,174 submissions. We describe here the selection of the accepted papers: Thirty-eight area chairs were selected coming from Europe (18), USA and Canada (16), and Asia (4). Their selection was based on the following criteria: (1) Researchers who had served at least two times as Area Chairs within the past two years at major vision conferences were excluded; (2) Researchers who served as Area Chairs at the 2010 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition were also excluded (exception: ECCV 2012 Program Chairs); (3) Minimization of overlap introduced by Area Chairs being former student and advisors; (4) 20% of the Area Chairs had never served before in a major conference; (5) The Area Chair selection process made all possible efforts to achieve a reasonable geographic distribution between countries, thematic areas and trends in computer vision. Each Area Chair was assigned by the Program Chairs between 28–32 papers. Based on paper content, the Area Chair recommended up to seven potential reviewers per paper. Such assignment was made using all reviewers in the database including the conflicting ones. The Program Chairs manually entered the missing conflict domains of approximately 300 reviewers. Based on the recommendation of the Area Chairs, three reviewers were selected per paper (with at least one being of the top three suggestions), with 99.

Book Moduli Spaces of Riemann Surfaces

Download or read book Moduli Spaces of Riemann Surfaces written by Benson Farb and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2013-08-16 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mapping class groups and moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces were the topics of the Graduate Summer School at the 2011 IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute. This book presents the nine different lecture series comprising the summer school, covering a selection of topics of current interest. The introductory courses treat mapping class groups and Teichmüller theory. The more advanced courses cover intersection theory on moduli spaces, the dynamics of polygonal billiards and moduli spaces, the stable cohomology of mapping class groups, the structure of Torelli groups, and arithmetic mapping class groups. The courses consist of a set of intensive short lectures offered by leaders in the field, designed to introduce students to exciting, current research in mathematics. These lectures do not duplicate standard courses available elsewhere. The book should be a valuable resource for graduate students and researchers interested in the topology, geometry and dynamics of moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces and related topics. Titles in this series are co-published with the Institute for Advanced Study/Park City Mathematics Institute. Members of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) receive a 20% discount from list price.
