This is a book for anyone as it deals with what affects an average person irrespective of faith and belief. It builds the faith of the believers to where they can just hold on to God; when there seems not to be any answer to their questions. It provides a comfort for the present and a vision of hope for tomorrow even when conditions appear intractable, hopeless or even terminal. Non-Christians will find it a valuable introduction to God and Jesus Christ. They will hopefully feel the power of God and the grace of Jesus. It will hopefully serve as an invitation for coming into the family of God, through Jesus Christ. The author confronts issues from a practical life experience. His admonitions are thoughtful, insightful, honest and unvarnished. This is a book that will strengthen the weak; comfort the discomforted; lift up the down-hearted; and put a new spirit in the readers' walk and relationship with God. The subtitled, in words and spirit is a catalyst for Finding Comfort in Times of Need, to those who believe.

Book Navigating the Storms of Life

Download or read book Navigating the Storms of Life written by Samson Chama and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In life, people face challenges and storms that come in different forms and fashions. These personal storms vary in scope, size and gravity, and some have short term effects whereas others may have long term effects. Whatever the magnitude of a storm, perhaps the most critical consideration at the end of the day is not so much the challenges or storms themselves, but rather how people respond to them. In this era of social, economic and political uncertainty, it is important for human service professionals such as social workers to gain a deeper understanding of different types of challenges that may impact the people they assist. Furthermore, it is important for them to attain a good grasp and understanding of how to address and manage these storms effectively. They may manage them on their own behalf or with their clients. A lack of understanding of these storms may lead to ineffective and misplaced interventions which do not offer any hope for the future. When people facing storms are given misplaced assistance or support, both the social worker and the client lose. This book examines the subject of storms from a Christian perspective and uses a real life experience of loss to highlight important lessons for both Christian and non-Christian social workers. It incorporates in each chapter vivid and thoughtful examples that illustrate storms, their impact on people and implications for recovery. Each chapter is coupled within a social workers perspective that highlights useful lessons for social work practice. The chapters also provide the reader with reflective questions that engage the readers by giving them an opportunity to explore their own lives, as well as discover life challenges they might have faced. The book not only sheds light on storms and challenges, but provides a relevant nexus of hope, faith and courage. This is exemplified in the chapters toward the end of the book that offer hope for now and for the hereafter. This is crucial in that the chapters do not leave the reader hanging and wondering what is next, but rather cultivate in the reader timely confidence, purpose for survival and a bigger perspective. This book is a hope builder, a confidence giver and a purpose provider for those struggling with challenges and personal storms in their lives. It provides readers with a new lens for the present and beyond, a lens for overcoming any storm. Individuals of all backgrounds including Christian and non-Christian social workers will gain from this book. It will not only strengthen their resolve for life, but will allow them the tenacity to look forward to a life after this. It is a reminder that, despite the storms and no matter how much people suffer, God is orchestrating the story. He is in control, He knows what He is doing, and at the end of the day its about Him.

Book excerpt: Is gospel Christianity dead? Pundits are writing the obituary of historic, orthodox Christianity, but pastor and author J. D. Greear (Gospel, Stop Asking Jesus into Your Heart) believes the postmortems are premature. Jesus promised to build his church. He said that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. The church is not going away. Along with this promise, Jesus gave clear instructions for how the church would prevail. He promised to build it on the rock of the gospel. The most pressing need for Christianity today is not a new strategy. It is not an updated message. It is a return to keeping the gospel above all.

It's not just another great book but one that you will read over and over to bring encouragement and strength during your Spiritual storms. It will force you to go dig deeper into the word of God, it will challenge the way you look at the seeming difficulties you may be facing or have faced and recognize that every one of those, has a GREAT purpose. Spiritual storms refer to those unpredictable, untraceable, and devastating events that come into our lives without warning, often shattering our world. It is the devastating news you get that immediately causes you to question the very foundation of your faith, like the doctor telling you that you have stage four cancer or that you will never conceive; having to report your child missing; watching your spouse walk out of what you thought was an extremely secure marriage; or any other news you receive that forces you to agonize before God. We all are confronted with Spiritual storms at some point in our lives, and the emotional and psychological impact of these storms can be crippling. The weight of some of these storms can lead the believer to lose hope in God. The truth is no one voluntarily chooses a Spiritual storm, but the fact is, we experience them all the time, even the most committed of Christians. Living a consecrated life in Jesus Christ will not prevent us from experiencing Spiritual storms. It is often very tempting for us to immediately associate our storms with us being outside the will of God. God sends storms into our lives, to get our attention, to mature us, to build us and to get glory out of us. Are you ready to be a conduit for God's glory? Get ready for this book to truly minister to your heart.
