Book From Vertex Operator Algebras to Conformal Nets and Back

Download or read book From Vertex Operator Algebras to Conformal Nets and Back written by Sebastiano Carpi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors consider unitary simple vertex operator algebras whose vertex operators satisfy certain energy bounds and a strong form of locality and call them strongly local. They present a general procedure which associates to every strongly local vertex operator algebra V a conformal net AV acting on the Hilbert space completion of V and prove that the isomorphism class of AV does not depend on the choice of the scalar product on V. They show that the class of strongly local vertex operator algebras is closed under taking tensor products and unitary subalgebras and that, for every strongly local vertex operator algebra V, the map W↦AW gives a one-to-one correspondence between the unitary subalgebras W of V and the covariant subnets of AV.

This book was released on 1999-05-14 with total page 1776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1975, the Marcel Grossmann Meetings have been organized to provide opportunities for discussing recent advances in gravitation, general relativity and relativistic field theories, emphasizing mathematical foundations, physical predictions and experimental tests. The objective of these meetings is to facilitate exchange among scientists that may deepen our understanding of space-time structures and to review the status of ongoing experiments aimed at testing Einstein's theory of gravitation from either the ground or space. The Eighth Marcel Grossmann Meeting took place on 22-27 June, 1997, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. The scientific program included 25 plenary talks and 40 parallel sessions during which 400 papers were presented. The papers that appear in this book cover all aspects of gravitation, from mathematical issues to recent observations and experiments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kurt Symanzik was certainly one of the most outstanding theoretical physicists of our time. For thirty years, until his untimely death in 1983, he helped to shape the present form of quantum field theory and its application to elementary particle physics. In memoriam of Kurt" Symanzik leading scientists present their most recent results, giving, at the same time, an overview of the state of the art. This collection was originally published in Vol. 97, 1/2 (1985) of Communications in Mathematical Physics. They range over various inter related topics of interest to Kurt Symanzik. We hope that making this collection available in an accessible and inexpensive way will benefit the physics community. The Publisher Contents To the Memory of Kurt Symanzik 1 By A. Jaffe, H. Book Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory

Download or read book Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory written by Hugh Osborn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The motivations, goals and general culture of theoretical physics and mathematics are different. Most practitioners of either discipline have no necessity for most of the time to keep abreast of the latest developments in the other. However on occasion newly developed mathematical concepts become relevant in theoretical physics and the less rigorous theoretical physics framework may prove valuable in understanding and suggesting new theorems and approaches in pure mathematics. Such interdis ciplinary successes invariably cause much rejoicing, as over a prodigal son returned. In recent years the framework provided by quantum field theory and functional in tegrals, developed over half a century in theoretical physics, have proved a fertile soil for developments in low dimensional topology and especially knot theory. Given this background it was particularly pleasing that NATO was able to generously sup port an Advanced Research Workshop to be held in Cambridge, England from 6th to 12th September 1992 with the title Low Dimensional Topology and Quantum Field Theory. Although independently organised this overlapped as far as some speak ers were concerned with a longer term programme with the same title organised by Professor M Green, Professor E Corrigan and Dr R Lickorish. The contents of this proceedings of the workshop demonstrate the breadth of topics now of interest on the interface between theoretical physics and mathematics as well as the sophistication of the mathematical tools required in current theoretical physics.
