Tony, a high school senior, growing up in a medium sized Midwestern town, challenged himself to pursue a relationship far beyond his years. Being on his own since fourteen, he dealt with fear and loneliness through ignorance and denial. He never had the love and guidance from a normal family life. When Tony met Dee, the love of his life, his misguided need for love and acceptance quickly spun out of control. They were made for each other. Download or read book The Pain of Love written by Kebaneilwe Garebatho and published by . This book was released on 2010-06-20 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is Botswana orientated. It is all about the causes of the pains people encounter in their relationships which lead to passion killings. Botswana has the highest passion killing rate in the world. This book reflects five things which keep a relationship running smoothly and of which if one of the five is missing, conflict which lead to passion killings arise. 1. MONEY. If money is not there in the relationship, conflict is bound to be there. Or if money is there and one of the two is misusing it, conflict is also bound to be there. Or if money is there and the two cannot agree on what to do with it having different opinions, conflict is also bound to be there.2. FOOD. If there is no food and the two are hungry, the two will then focus more on hunger than anything else. The two will be stressed, weak and can't concentrate on their love affair. This can drive one of the two to find somebody who can provide food in exchange either for sex or that person can spend more time with the person who is providing food for him\her than his\her partner. And this can end up not going well with the partner who is attention starved.3. SEX. If one of the two is denied that sexual encounter he\she will spend endless days angry and is irritated by anything. He\she will complain about anything. Some of the things he\she complains about are trivial. Because of being denied that sexual encounter, everything that his\her partner does is wrong. Because a sexually hungry person is a very angry person. He\she cannot differentiate between serious and small matters. Facts and wild thoughts.4. ACCOMMODATION. If the two are not staying under the same roof, one of the two can be influenced by the environment one is living in and end up doing something which can affect the other one badly.5. GOOD COMMUNICATION AND RESPECT. A lot of people have lost their relationships because of poor communication and lack of respect to the other. While others inprison themselves by holding offence one has committed in the past forgetting or ignoring that yesterday is history, today is gift that is why they call it present while tomorrow is mystery. They don't know that if they want to see themselves flying one day, they need to get rid of the weights pulling them down as the abilities of successful people and unsuccessful people are the same. The only difference is their desires. When other people are succeeding in their relationships, everybody else can succeed as well.Prior to writing this book, KebaneilweGarebatho encountered two unfortunate situations. The first one was when he caught his longtime fiancé of nine years in bed having sex with another man in his [author's] house, bedroom and bed and using the author's condoms. The two ran away for good. The author went to the pub and bought fifteen bottles of alcohol, Push Kin and drank them. He collapsed on the fourth day. His neighbor took him to Princess Marina hospital in the capital city of Botswana, Gaborone where he was admitted for fifteen days. The second experience is reflected on the outer cover of his book where he caught his best friend in bed with his partner. His best friend left him is a bar after asking him to wait for him there and after asking the bar attendants to serve him with alcohol as he would come and pay for them in his return while he was secretly going to his [author's] partner. After the incident the author interviewed people who had killed their partners and got arrested. He also went to Lobatse Mental Hospital to interview people who became mentally disturbed after the relationships they were in became sour. Also interviewed were some psychiatrists, social workers, police, lawyers, judges, pastors, African traditional doctors and the general public. After compiling all the information, he wrote this book 'The Pain of Love.'

Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling adult author of The Bear and the Nightingale makes her middle grade debut with a creepy, spellbinding ghost story destined to become a classic. Now in paperback. After suffering a tragic loss, eleven-year-old Ollie who only finds solace in books discovers a chilling ghost story about a girl named Beth, the two brothers who loved her, and a peculiar deal made with "the smiling man"—a sinister specter who grants your most tightly held wish, but only for the ultimate price. Captivated by the tale, Ollie begins to wonder if the smiling man might be real when she stumbles upon the graves of the very people she's been reading about on a school trip to a nearby farm. Then, later, when her school bus breaks down on the ride home, the strange bus driver tells Ollie and her classmates: "Best get moving. At nightfall they'll come for the rest of you." Nightfall is, indeed, fast descending when Ollie's previously broken digital wristwatch begins a startling countdown and delivers a terrifying message: RUN. Only Ollie and two of her classmates heed these warnings. As the trio head out into the woods—bordered by a field of scarecrows that seem to be watching them—the bus driver has just one final piece of advice for Ollie and her friends: "Avoid large places. Keep to small." And with that, a deliciously creepy and hair-raising adventure begins.

Book Aesthetic Conflict and its Clinical Relevance

Download or read book Aesthetic Conflict and its Clinical Relevance written by Meg Harris Williams and published by Harris Meltzer Trust. This book was released on 2018-06-30 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Donald Meltzer coined the term ‘aesthetic conflict’ to describe the emotional complexities of the ‘apprehension of beauty’. It had its roots in art, literature, infant observation, and above all, in clinical experience. This concept affirmed and illustrated Bion’s formula of L, H, K (Love, Hate, and Knowledge), together with its negative (minus L, H, K) as a revision of Klein’s fundamental emotional dynamics of Envy and Gratitude. As such, any emotional situation may be read in terms of either struggling with or retreating from the aesthetic conflict that occurs naturally at all key points of psychic development. Meltzer could be said to have encapsulated the essence of Bion’s post-Kleinian trajectory when he wrote that ‘If we follow Bion’s thought closely, we see that the new idea presents itself as an emotional experience of the beauty of the world and its wondrous organisation.’ The contributions in this book are by analysts and therapists from a wide variety of countries working with both children and adults. They have all, in individual ways, found ‘aesthetic conflict’ a useful frame of reference in terms of illuminating the significance of clinical observation, understanding countertransference responses, or practising the psychoanalytic method itself.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tempting, inked and highly addictive. Alex is all that and more... I've made a lot of mistakes - ones I'm not proud of, and definitely ones that have left their marks both mentally and physically. Things got lonely; I got lost in my own fucked up mind and in the end it left me fucked out of my mind and unable to fight - or at least win. That life's over for me and I've moved on. Six months into tattooing at Blue's and already I'm the most wanted and sought out tattooist. My biggest clientele consists of women. They come into the shop, end up in my bed and we both come out happy. It's been my release since I've stopped fighting. It's become part of the "new" me. But when Tripp reappears in my life, I can't deny the fact that I would do anything for that girl. So when she asks me to move in with her and her 'boyfriend' - our other childhood friend - I never expected for things to get so fucked up and twisted that I would find myself only more attracted to her by each passing second or wanting to protect her from everything that isn't me. I have worked so hard over the years to suppress my feelings for her but when I find out that her and Lucas have been having an open relationship, I have the strong urge to rip his heart straight from his chest - to destroy the very thing that keeps him breathing. What I didn't expect was for Lucas to ask what he did. For him to ask me to do the one thing I have secretly longed for since I was old enough to know what the need was. The second thing I never expected was the look of need that I saw in Tripp's eyes when he asked. One night of free passion could change our lives forever. I never said that was a good thing either...

Book excerpt: Dialogue, Not Dogma When Aspen Baker had an abortion at the age of twenty-four, she felt caught between the warring pro-life and pro-choice factions, with no safe space to share her feelings. In this hopeful and moving book, Baker describes how she and Exhale, the organization she cofounded, developed their “pro-voice” philosophy and the creative approaches they employed to help women and men have respectful, compassionate exchanges about even this most controversial of topics. She shows how pro-voice can be adopted by anyone interested in replacing ideological gridlock with empathetic conversation. Peace, in this perspective, isn't a world without conflict but one where conflict can be engaged in—fiercely and directly—without dehumanizing ourselves or our opponents.
