Download or read book International Joint Ventures Economic and Organizational Perspectives written by Kalyan Chatterjee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Joint Ventures: Economic and Organizational Perspectives is the result of a symposium on International Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances held by the Center for Research in Conflict and Negotiation at Pennsylvania State University. The book gives a cross-disciplinary treatment of the economic and managerial issues affecting joint venture formation, operation and performance, including subjects ranging from the impact of international trade policy to cross-cultural communication on joint venture operations. The volume enriches our understanding of each discipline from the vantage point of the other, building a more complete understanding of joint ventures as a mode of entry into domestic and international markets. Two categories of question are analyzed: issues of importance to the joint potential and actual participants in a joint venture, and issues related to the social effects of joint ventures from the point of view of society as a whole or its agent, the regulator. The questions are addressed using simple theoretical models and conceptual discussions as well as empirical analyses. Audience: Executives, policy makers and scholars of economics, decision analysis, political science and management.

Book Conflict Management in German Russian Joint Ventures

Download or read book Conflict Management in German Russian Joint Ventures written by A. Rademacher and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2010-12-03 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2008 in the subject Politics - Region: Russia, grade: 1,4, University of Cooperative Education Mannheim, course: International Seminar, language: English, abstract: The German-Russian foreign trade has been doubled since the year 2000 to 50 billion Euros. According to the Ost-Ausschuss of the German Economy (Deutsche Wirtschaft) this positive trend will continue during the next years. German companies are planning investments accounting to 1.4 billion Euros in the Russian market and as well Russian firms are going to invest in Germany. Russia is not only the biggest country in the world but also richest in commodities. Furthermore, it is also one of the fastest growing economies in the world with a geographical closeness to Germany. This should be reason enough for the German companies to invest in the Russian market and reversely. Next to exporting and licensing the entity form of joint ventures represents a good strategy for entering the foreign market. The hosting partner will deliver the knowledge and technology and the home partner will offer experience in the market, meaning awareness of cultural differences, political regulations and potential conflicts. Nevertheless, joint ventures are also starting points for conflicts that may endanger the success of the business. This paper deals with the conflict management of joint ventures that have been coordinated by German and Russian firms. At first the terms conflict management and joint venture will be defined followed by an introduction to the two countries Germany and Russia. At the second stage different starting points for conflicts will be determined. Examples of these are the differences in culture, the restrictions and regulations for entering the Russian market and opinions of experts on joint ventures with Russia. Due to the lacking of direct information on conflict management of actual joint ventures, two successful joint ventures will be presented. Occurred and potential conflicts will be determined. With help of these conclusions will be drawn upon the management of conflicts which most often leads to success in business. To complete the paper lessons learnt for more Russian joint ventures will be pointed out.

Book International Joint Venture Performance in South East Asia

Download or read book International Joint Venture Performance in South East Asia written by Craig C. Julian and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'This is a welcome addition to the body of work on IJV performance. The emphasis on marketing and on S.E. Asia is particularly timely.' - Paul Beamish, University of Western Ontario, Canada Craig Julian argues that the International Joint Venture (IJV) phenomena represents two opposing trends. On the one hand, an analysis of the number of new IJVs reveals that they are becoming increasingly popular as a mode of overseas market entry and expansion. On the other hand, however, the significance of a robust growth trend is overshadowed by the incidence of high failure. The book examines the factors influencing the marketing performance of IJVs in South East Asia, including market characteristics, conflict, commitment, product characteristics, marketing orientation, control, trust, partner's contributions and partner's needs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joint ventures have become a common vehicle for companies to create strategic alliances with partners that have complementary capabilities and resources, fostering opportunities to exploit distribution channels, technology, or finance in ways not available to the sole partners. Simply put, in a joint venture, two or more parent companies agree to pool defined capital, technology, human resources, risks, and rewards in the formation of a distinct entity under shared control. The complexities of such an arrangement are magnified when the project embraces more than one jurisdiction. In this special issue of the Comparative Law Yearbook of International Business, practitioners who have specialized in domestic and cross border joint venture formations report on their respective jurisdictions as well as particular cross border issues. The volume provides national reports on Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, The Philippines, Romania, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, and Vietnam. European competition law relative to joint ventures, taxation issues in The Netherlands, and governing law also are treated.
