Book The Application of Traffic Simulation Models

Download or read book The Application of Traffic Simulation Models written by and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1981-01-01 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication presents an overall summary, the resource papers and workshop summaries of a conference on traffic simulation models. The conference had two objectives: to inform the user community about what models are available and what is planned for their future development; and to obtain feedback from users on their experiences in the application of simulation models and the needs that become apparent with experience. Four papers were presented on existing models for traffic simulation analysis. Three papers reported user experience with the most widely used traffic network simulation model--NETSIM. Two papers examined current and future developments. The workshop sessions covered the application of simulation by models by different user groups, and technical issues in simulation modeling and application. Papers presented at the workshops and papers presented for the proceedings are also included.

Book Integrated Traffic Simulation Model Phase I

Download or read book Integrated Traffic Simulation Model Phase I written by E. Lieberman and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Executive summary: This document presents a summary description of the work effort performed and of the end-product produced under the subject contract. It is written for a general audience and is oriented toward both administrative and technical personnel. This report contains three sections: 1) An introduction which reviews the utility of traffic simulation and its role as a key element in the transportation management process. The need for an integrated traffic simulation model is discussed and, finally, the objectives of the TRAF system are stated. 2) The conceptual design of TRAF is presented. Two components of the TRAF software system are identified and discussed: a) The TRAF Integrated Model and b) The TRAF Operating System. 3) A brief summary of the other volumes is presented. This volume is the first in a series of five. The others are: Vol. 2 80/087 Design of the TRAF Operating System (TOS); Vol. 3 80/088 TRAF Operating System Users Guide; Vol. 4 80/089 Revisions to UTCS-1 Traffic Simulation Model to Enhance Operational Efficiency; and Vol. 5 80/090 TRAF Operating Systems Program Documentation.

Book Methodology for Calibration and Validation of Mesoscopic Traffic Simulation Models

Download or read book Methodology for Calibration and Validation of Mesoscopic Traffic Simulation Models written by Mo Zhao and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traffic simulation models are increasingly being used in the transportation engineering profession--often, to solve complex problems that may not lend themselves to traditional analysis techniques. The application of traffic simulation models has traditionally been at the individual vehicle (microscopic) level or aggregate traffic stream (macroscopic) level. Recently, the Virginia Department of Transportation and other agencies have shown interest in mesoscopic traffic simulation models, which allow for a level of detail higher than macroscopic models and model execution times better than those of microscopic models. This study proposed a procedure for mesoscopic simulation model calibration and validation. The proposed procedure was demonstrated on a test bed along I-95 in the City of Richmond and Chesterfield County, Virginia, using Aimsun Next. Results of the case study indicated that the proposed procedure appears to be properly calibrating and validating the mesoscopic simulation model of the test bed.
