Book Integrated Design and Manufacturing in Mechanical Engineering

Download or read book Integrated Design and Manufacturing in Mechanical Engineering written by Patrick Chedmail and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-11-05 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the selected papers of the first I.D.M.M.E. conference on 'Integrated Design and Manufacturing in Mechanical Engineering', held in Nantes from 15-17 April 1996. Its objective was to discuss the questions related to the definition of the optimal design and manufacturing processes and to their integration through coherent methodologies in adapted environments. The initiative of the Conference and the organization thereof, is mainly due to the efforts of the french PRIMECA group (Pool of Computer Resources for Mechanics) started eight years ago. We were able to attract the internationru community with the support of the International Institution for Production Engineering Research (C.I.R.P.). The conference brought together two hundred and fifty specialists from around the world. About ninety papers and twenty posters were presented covering three main topics : optimization and evaluation of the product design process, optimization and evaluation of the manufacturing systems and methodological aspects.

Book Micromachined Thin Film Sensors for SOI CMOS Co Integration

Download or read book Micromachined Thin Film Sensors for SOI CMOS Co Integration written by Jean Laconte and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-10-29 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Co-integration of sensors with their associated electronics on a single silicon chip may provide many significant benefits regarding performance, reliability, miniaturization and process simplicity without significantly increasing the total cost. Micromachined Thin-Film Sensors for SOI-CMOS Co-integration covers the challenges and interests and demonstrates the successful co-integration of gas-flow sensors on dielectric membrane, with their associated electronics, in CMOS-SOI technology. We firstly investigate the extraction of residual stress in thin layers and in their stacking and the release, in post-processing, of a 1 μm-thick robust and flat dielectric multilayered membrane using Tetramethyl Ammonium Hydroxide (TMAH) silicon micromachining solution. The optimization of its selectivity towards aluminum is largely demonstrated. The second part focuses on sensors design and characteristics. A novel loop-shape polysilicon microheater is designed and built in a CMOS-SOI standard process. High thermal uniformity, low power consumption and high working temperature are confirmed by extensive measurements. The additional gas flow sensing layers are judiciously chosen and implemented. Measurements in the presence of a nitrogen flow and gas reveal fair sensitivity on a large flow velocity range as well as good response to many gases. Finally, MOS transistors suspended on released dielectric membranes are presented and fully characterized as a concluding demonstrator of the co-integration in SOI technology.

Book The New Scientific Spirit

Download or read book The New Scientific Spirit written by Gaston Bachelard and published by Beacon Press (MA). This book was released on 1984 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Bachelard draws upon both his scientific training and his interest in the nonrational - which ultimately drew him toward the study of poetics - to explore the deeper meanings of the new physics. In Bachelard's view, the unpredictable behaviour of subatomic particles belies the seemingly neat, ordered, and mechanistic universe that the practical and empirical scientists of the nineteenth century thought they saw.

Book Human Interaction with Complex Systems

Download or read book Human Interaction with Complex Systems written by Celestine A. Ntuen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human-System interaction has been and will continue to be of interest to many researchers of various disciplines: engineers, computer scientists, psychologists, and social scientists. The research in Human-System Interaction (HSI) has progressed from the era of using anthropomorphic data to design workspace to the current period which utilizes human and artificial sensors to design sensory-based cooperative workspace. In either of these developments, HSI has been known to be complex. In 1994, we initiated a series of symposiums on Human Interaction with Complex Systems. It was then that various ideas surrounding HSI for today and tomorrow were discussed by many scientists in the related disciplines. As a follow-up, in 1995 the Second Symposium was organized. The objective of this symposium was to attempt to defme a framework, principles, and theories for HSI research. This book is the result of that symposium. The 1995 symposium brought together a number of experts in the area of HSI. The symposium was more focused on expert opinions and testimonies than traditional meetings for technical papers. There were three reasons for that approach.

This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book expounds fruitful ways of analysing matters of ecology, environments, nature, and the non-human world in a broad spectrum of material in French. Scholars from Canada, France, Great Britain, Spain, and the United States examine the work of writers and thinkers including Michel de Montaigne, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Arthur Rimbaud, Marguerite Yourcenar, Gilbert Simondon, Michel Serres, Michel Houellebecq, and Éric Chevillard. The diverse approaches in the volume signal a common desire to bring together form and content, politics and aesthetics, theory and practice, under the aegis of the environmental humanities.
