Book Nordic eHealth Benchmarking

Download or read book Nordic eHealth Benchmarking written by Hyppönen, Hannele and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents results of the Nordic eHealth Research Network, a subgroup of the eNordic Council of Ministers Health group. The network defined and collected data for altogether 49 common eHealth indicators from the Nordic Countries. Health information was quite comprehensively electronically available from other organisations in all the Nordic countries by end of 2014. Intensity of use of nationally stored data remained low except in Denmark. Sweden had best availability of the Patient portal functionalities. Patients used patient portal functionalities rarely except in Denmark. Doctors in Iceland had most positive experiences of their health information systems. Even with limitations, the current work presents a solid basis for working towards the goal of the eHealth network: generating comparable information to support development of Nordic welfare.

Book Health Trends in the Nordic Countries

Download or read book Health Trends in the Nordic Countries written by Reijo Salmela and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is twofold: first, it aims to provide a short introduction to health, its determinants, and health services in these five Nordic countries. Second, through its list of references we hope that people with a more detail interest in these questions can locate relevant data sources. The aim of comparability has resulted in unevennes, because the content of the report is largely determined by what was available rather than what is important or what would have been the best way of presenting the data. This is not a complete or balanced overview, but a "visiting card" to health issues in the Nordic countries.

Book EBOOK Nordic Health Care Systems Recent Reforms and Current Policy Challenges

Download or read book EBOOK Nordic Health Care Systems Recent Reforms and Current Policy Challenges written by Jon Magnussen and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2009-09-16 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The book is very valuable as actual information about the health systems in the Nordic countries and the changes that have been made during the last two decades. It informs well both about the similarities within the 'Nordic Health Model' and the important differences that exist between the countries." Bo Könberg, County Governor, Former Minister of Health and Social Insurance in Sweden (1991-94) "This book is a rich, interesting and very useful document. I have been looking, for example, today for precise information on political governing which is not displayed anywhere else. It will be of importance in many aspects!" Johan Calltorp MD PhD, Professor of Health Policy and Management, The Nordic School of Public Health, Gotenburg "The publishing of this book about the Nordic health care systems is a major event for those interested not only in Nordic health policy and health systems but also for everybody interested in comparative health policy and health systems. It is the first book in its kind. It covers the four 'large' Nordic countries, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, and does so in a very systematically comparative way. The book is well organized, covers 'everything' and is analytically sophisticated." Ole Berg, nstitute of Health Management and health economics, University of Oslo, Norway This book examines recent patterns of health reform in Nordic health care systems, and the balance between stability and change in how these systems have developed. The health systems in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland are investigated through detailed comparisons along a variety of policy-driven parameters. The following themes are explored: Politicians, patients, and professions Financing, production, and distribution The role of the primary health sector The role of public health Internal management mechanisms Impact of the European Union The book probes the impact of these topics and then contrasts the development across all four, allowing the reader to gain a sense of perspective both on the individual countries as well as on the region as a whole. The editors also explore the extent to which a Nordic Health Care Model exists, and the degree to which that model will continue to help explain the future direction of health policy-making in these four countries. An additional chapter on recent developments in Iceland completes the work. Contributors: Tinna L. Ásgeirsdóttir, Paula Blomquist, Johan Calltorp, Terje P. Hagen, Unto Häkkinen, Peter K. Book Information Infrastructures within European Health Care

Download or read book Information Infrastructures within European Health Care written by Margunn Aanestad and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-10 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is open access under a CC BY-NC 2.5 license. The book aims to be a resource for those interested in planning and implementing large-scale information infrastructures for novel electronic services in health care. The focus of this book is on the pivotal role of the installed base (i.e. the already existing elements of an infrastructure) for ensuing infrastructural development. The book presents rich empirical cases on the design, development and implementation of core infrastructural components (e-prescription and public patient-oriented web platforms) in different national settings across Europe. Therefore, this is a book in which theoretical insights and practical experiences are tightly connected. Contributions have been sourced from a network of academics that have been working on the topic for years, and who have previously collaborated and shared a common understanding of the challenges entailed in expanding information infrastructures within healthcare. The book aims to become a reference for those seeking theoretical and empirical insights for conceptualizing and steering the evolution of information infrastructures in healthcare. The two types of systems (e-prescription and public patient-oriented web platforms) have been selected because they are widespread across Europe, because they invite comparisons, and because they are exemplary of two different types of aims. E-prescription initiatives are usually seen as opportunities to improve healthcare delivery by systematic and not dramatic change. Public patient-oriented web platforms are seen as opportunities to pursue wider and more radical innovation. This book targets researchers, practitioners and students who would benefit from a book providing a comprehensive view to contemporary approaches for the design and deployment of large-scale, inter-organizational systems within healthcare.

Book excerpt: For the first time in history, the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) held the joint “E-Health” Symposium as part of “Treat IT” stream of the IFIP World Congress 2010 at Brisbane, Australia during September 22–23, 2010. IMIA is an independent organization established under Swiss law in 1989. The organization originated in 1967 from Technical Committee 4 of IFIP that is a n- governmental, non-profit umbrella organization for national societies working in the field of information processing. It was established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO following the First World Computer Congress held in Paris in 1959. Today, IFIP has several types of members and maintains friendly connections to specialized agencies of the UN system and non-governmental organizations. Technical work, which is the heart of IFIP's activity, is managed by a series of Technical Committees. Due to strong needs for promoting informatics in healthcare and the rapid progress of information and communication technology, IMIA President Reinhold Haux p- posed to strengthen the collaboration with IFIP. The IMIA General Assembly (GA) approved the move and an IMIA Vice President (VP) for special services (Hiroshi Takeda) was assigned as a liaison to IFIP at Brisbane during MEDINFO2007 where th the 40 birthday of IMIA was celebrated.

Book Health and Social Sectors with an Gg egg A Study of the Nordic Countries

Download or read book Health and Social Sectors with an Gg egg A Study of the Nordic Countries written by Nordic Council of Ministers and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2005-04-01 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Nordic countries have reached a stage where the national level of development in the use of IT applications has extended to a Nordic level. This is partly a result of the Collaborative Net-work of Nordic eHealth Competence Centres, a voluntary group for experience exchange and common activities regarding ICT in healthcare. However, this Nordic co-operation needs to be strengthened and more structured, with the appropriate re-sources, legal foundation, skills and capacity, to further develop and exploit common solutions. This report is the result of a study carried out on request of the Nordic Council of Ministers, by Ministers for Social Affairs and Health. It has been carried out by the partners of the Collabora-tive Network of Nordic eHealth Competence Centres (Med-Com/Denmark, KITH/Norway, STAKES/Finland, Ministry of Health/Iceland, and Carelink/Sweden). The report describes the use of IT in health care and social services in the Nordic coun-tries. The purpose of the study is to enhance the opportunity for the Nordic countries to learn from each other and to co-operate in a larger extent.

This book was released on 2019-08-05 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarises the discussions from a seminar held 30 and 31 August 2018 in Copenhagen on eHealth standardisation in the Nordic countries. The seminar was organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ eHealth group. The report represents the beginning of a more permanent Nordic collaboration in this area. Following the seminar and the subsequent analysis of the input from the seminar, the eHealth group has decided to establish a subgroup on eHealth standardisation. The scope of the report is limited mainly to technical standards, with some examples including semantic standards. The work of the sub group will take on both the former and the latter and will be elaborated further within the broader framework of the European Interoperability Framework in which organisational and legal standards are included.

Book System Analysis of Ambulatory Care in Selected Countries

Download or read book System Analysis of Ambulatory Care in Selected Countries written by Peter L. Reichertz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Working Group 5 of the International Medical Informatics Associa tion (IMIA) is dedicated to information systems in primary care with special emphasis on computer systems in the doctor's office. Accord ingly, a conference was held in Hannover in 1980 where the first ap proaches were described and experiences in system analysis, system construction and evaluation were discussed (Rienhoff, O. and Abrams, M.E. (eds.): The Computer in the Doctor's Office, North-Holland, Amsterdam: 1980). Computer hardware and software development has been rapid over the last years. Thus the prerequisites for a successful support of the work of the physician in his office have improved. But system con struction still lags behind and the actual penetration of systems is lower than 2 % of the doctors' offices in most countries. This applies to industrialized countries. However, attempts are made everywhere to improve primary care by means of modern information technology. Information systems depend upon the real environment into which they are placed: administrative procedures govern priorities and procedures in doctor's office computers, possibilities to defray cost upon the various carriers or the patients have a great influence on the propagation of systems. Furthermore, various procedures of accounting or re-imbursement may lead to a facilitation or to a delay of the in troduction of systems. The 'art of medical practice' has reached a comparable standard within at least the industrialized countries.
