Book Computer Code for Off Design Performance Analysis of Radial Inflow Turbines with Rotor Blade Sweep

Download or read book Computer Code for Off Design Performance Analysis of Radial Inflow Turbines with Rotor Blade Sweep written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-25 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis procedure of an existing computer program was extended to include rotor blade sweep, to model the flow more accurately at the rotor exit, and to provide more detail to the loss model. The modeling changes are described and all analysis equations and procedures are presented. Program input and output are described and are illustrated by an example problem. Results obtained from this program and from a previous program are compared with experimental data. Meitner, P. L. and Glassman, A. J. Book Computer Program for Preliminary Design Analysis of Axial flow Turbines

Download or read book Computer Program for Preliminary Design Analysis of Axial flow Turbines written by Arthur J. Glassman and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The program method is based on a mean-diameter flow analysis. Input design requirements include power or pressure ratio, flow, temperature, pressure, and speed. Turbine designs are generated for any specified number of stages and for any of three types of velocity diagrams (symmetrical, zero exit swirl, or impulse). Exit turning vanes can be included in the design. Program output includes inlet and exit annulus dimensions, exit temperature and pressure, total and static efficiencies, blading angles, and last-stage critical velocity ratios. The report presents the analysis method, a description of input and output with sample cases, and the program listing.

Book Simulation Tools and Methods for Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Radial Inflow Turbine

Download or read book Simulation Tools and Methods for Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Radial Inflow Turbine written by Jianhui Qi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To protect the Earth, China has launched its target of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 , which greatly encourages the use and development of renewable energy. Supercritical CO2 power cycle is a promising technology and the radial inflow turbine is the most important component of it, whose design and optimisation are considered as great challenges. This book introduces simulation tools and methods for supercritical CO2 radial inflow turbine, including a high fidelity quasi-one-dimensional design procedure, a non-ideal compressible fluid dynamics Riemann solver within open-source CFD software OpenFOAM framework, and a multi-objective Nelder–Mead geometry optimiser. Enhanced one-dimensional loss models are presented for providing a new insight towards the preliminary design of the supercritical CO2 radial inflow turbine. Since the flow phenomena within the blade channels are complex, involving fluid flow, shock wave transmission and boundary layer separation, only employing the ideal gas model is inadequate to predict the performance of the turbine. Thus, a non-ideal compressible fluid dynamics Riemann solver based on OpenFOAM library is developed. This book addresses the issues related to the turbine design and blade optimization and provides leading techniques. Hence, this book is of great value for the readers working on the supercritical CO2 radial inflow turbine and understanding the knowledge of CFD and turbomachinery.
