Book Concurrent Design of Products Manufacturing Processes and Systems

Download or read book Concurrent Design of Products Manufacturing Processes and Systems written by Ben Wang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-01-27 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods presented involve the use of simulation and modeling tools and virtual workstations in conjunction with a design environment. This allows a diverse group of researchers, manufacturers, and suppliers to work within a comprehensive network of shared knowledge. The design environment consists of engineering workstations and servers and a suite of simulation, quantitative, computational, analytical, qualitative and experimental tools. Such a design environment will allow the effective and efficient integration of complete product design, manufacturing process design, and customer satisfaction predictions. This volume enables the reader to create an integrated concurrent engineering design and analysis infrastructure through the use of virtual workstations and servers; provide remote, instant sharing of engineering data and resources for the development of a product, system, mechanism, part, business and/or process, and develop applications fully compatible with international CAD/CAM/CAE standards for product representation and modeling.

Book Integrated Design of a Product Family and Its Assembly System

Download or read book Integrated Design of a Product Family and Its Assembly System written by Pierre De Lit and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-06-28 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrated Design of a Product Family and Its Assembly System presents an integrated approach for the design of a product family and its assembly system, whose main principles consider the product family as a fictitious unique product for which the assembly system is to be devised. It imposes assembly and operation constraints as late as possible in the design process to get liberties in the system design, and adapts the product family at each design stage to integrate the new constraints related to the successive design choices. Integrated Design of a Product Family and Its Assembly System is an important, must-have book for researchers and Ph.D. students in Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing, as well as practitioners in the Design, Planning and Production departments in the manufacturing industry. Integrated Design of a Product Family and Its Assembly System is also suitable for use as a textbook in courses such as Computer-Aided Design, Concurrent Engineering, Design for Assembly, Process Planning, and Integrated Design.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing intensity surrounding globalization of manufacturing and its competitive environment force a much higher 'expectation' of design as falling within the 'optimum range of parameters.' This new book explains how the CE Design process provides a stable, repeatable process through which increased accuracy is achieved. Section I: The Business Environment Surrounding Concurrent Engineering Design includes an introduction, asks 'Why' CE Design, explains how CE Design can create a competitive advantage, and addresses CE Design as a world class manufacturing enabler. Section II: Concurrent Engineering Design Business Process Framework looks at CE DesignAs relationship to process management, the design process, and manufacturability process. Section III: Concurrent Engineering Design Architectural and Implementation Framework focuses on CE DesignAs automated infrastructure, and implementation planning for engineering design.

Book Methods and Tools for Co operative and Integrated Design

Download or read book Methods and Tools for Co operative and Integrated Design written by Serge Tichkiewitch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SMC COLOMBIER FONTAINE is a company in the AFE METAL group, which uses a sand casting process to manufacture steel primary parts. To reduce the "time to market", primary part producers need to reduce the time and cost of the industrialisation process. These factors, in addition to the global goal of improving process performance levels, brought SMC to develop numerical technologies and traceability from quotation to part delivery [1]. Nowadays, these improvements are incorporated into company culture. The next step in reducing the time and cost of the production process is to introduce a complete methodology of use and experience feedback of these new models and methods. To be able to generalise this approach, a CAD methodology is essential and thus becomes a step in the industrialisation process. The amount of improvements engendered by the numerical technologies largely justifies the time investment made to obtain a numerical definition of all the different elements in the sand casting process [2]. The objective of our approach is to optimise the product and its production process by generating a complete numerical reference, through the integration of quotation, CAD, simulation, new manufacturing technologies and effective production processes.

Book Computer Aided Concurrent Integral Design

Download or read book Computer Aided Concurrent Integral Design written by Rolf F. Schmidt and published by Springer. This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Product Data Technology encompasses the information related to all stages in the product life cycle from product design via production planning, production processes, production control etc. through the delivery and operational stages of the technical product. Product Data Technology takes a coherent, unified view of the information captured in this whole life cycle and provides methodologies to support this integrated perspective. The Product Data Technology Advisory Group (PDTAG), a Special Interest Group of the CIME Division of the Commission of the European Communities founded in 1991, has encouraged the formation of a new subseries on Product Data Technology within the existing series of Research Reports ESPRIT. This subseries will provide a depository for the important contributions made by ESPRIT projects to the evolving area of Product Data Technology, particularly also those based on STEP (ISO 10303). PDTAG is grateful to Springer Publishers for establishing this subseries which will serve to report recent international developments in Product Data Technology. The current volume describes the results of the ESPRIT Project CACID (Proj. No. 5168), dealing with the subject of computer-aided concurrent integral design. Concurrent engineering provides an important enhancement of computer-aided product design by offering a framework and methodology for the management of design projects with multiple parallel tasks. Concurrent Engineering is one of the important growth areas for Product Data Technology.
