Book Computer Aided Structural Engineering CASE Project User s Guide A Three Dimensional Stability Analysis Design Program 3DSAD Report 1 General Geometry Module Revision 1

Download or read book Computer Aided Structural Engineering CASE Project User s Guide A Three Dimensional Stability Analysis Design Program 3DSAD Report 1 General Geometry Module Revision 1 written by Fred T. Tracy and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This module of the three dimensional (3-D) stability analysis/design program (3DSAD) enables the engineer to describe the geometry of the 3-D structure, to interactively plot the desired structure, and then to obtain volume, weight, and centroid information for the structure. The general ways in which geometry is described are (a) two dimensional cross sections extended in the third dimension, (b) eight node brick elements, and (c) clusters of planar polygonal and bicubic patches. Curved segments can be circular, elliptical, or quadratic when using blocks and cubic when using patches. Objects can be copied, translated, rotated, or reflected about an axis as well. An arbitrary clipping plane can also be passed through the geometry. Keywords: Computer aided design; Structural analysis; Structural design.

Book Users Reference Manual

Book excerpt: Computer program TWDA (T-wall design/analysis) is a user-oriented conversationally interactive, modular time-sharing program system for computer-aided structural design of inverted-T retaining walls and floodwalls founded on earth or rock. Its essential characteristics include: (a) List-directed input with prompting available on request or as shown to be needed. Data lists may be entered interactively or in a data file. (b) Design for minimum cost including excavation, backfill, slab concrete, and stem concrete, with inputted unit costs. Default is to design for minimum concrete volume. (c) Multiple soils strata may be used as existing and/or backfill earth. Either Coulomb's equation or trail wedges may be used to get active earth pressures. (d) Multiple slopes may be used to model existing and/or finished grade surfaces. (e) Time-sharing printout is limited to the minimum needed by the user to make his design decisions. A full analysis report is available in an optional output file that may be listed on any terminal. (f) The program is structured to permit easy updating as criteria change. (g) Up to 10 load cases may be used. The user does not need to reenter any data by hand into subsequent runs. (h) The 1977 edition of ACI code 318 is used. Default procedures conform to the Corps of Engineers' Engineer Manuals in effect in 1980. The user may, however, direct the program to change many of the standard procedures as needed. (Author).

Book Computer Aided Structural Engineering CASE Project A Three Dimensional Stability Analysis Design Program 3DSAD Report 2 General Loads Module

Download or read book Computer Aided Structural Engineering CASE Project A Three Dimensional Stability Analysis Design Program 3DSAD Report 2 General Loads Module written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer program 3DSAD does an overturning and sliding stability analysis for complex three-dimensional structures. Specific structure types and general shapes can be handled. General modules are: geometry--to define, display, and compute mass properties; loads--to define, display, and compute loads; analysis--to perform a base analysis assuming a rigid body on an elastic foundation; and free-body--to use clipping capability for a free-body analysis. Geometry is defined by two-dimensional cross sections swept or grown linearly or axisymmetrically in third dimension, eight-node brick finite elements, and clusters of planar faces and bicubic patches. Loads are computed by giving a direction to a volume defined in the General Geometry Module format, specifying a point load, and simplifying load commands wherever soil and water levels are specified. Geometry and loads may be displayed by color wire-frame, hidden line, or continuous tone plots, and load cases may be defined. Keywords: Army Corps of Engineers; CASE (computer aided structural engineering); Computer aided design; Continuous tone shaded plots; Hidden line plots; Interactive graphics; Loads computation; Solid modeling; Structural stability; Three-dimensional graphics.
