Book Computer Aided Environmental Management

Download or read book Computer Aided Environmental Management written by S.A. Abbasi and published by Discovery Publishing House. This book was released on 2000 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An integration of the fascinating stream of computers with an equally fascinating domain of environmental studies has given birth to the new branch of science we call, Computer-aided Environmental Management (CAEM). This book provides us with glimpses of the power CAEM can wield. It gives us insights into the innumerable ways in which CAEM can solve intricate practical problems of environmental pollution in a sophisticated yet inexpensive manner. Contents: COBAS: Cost Benefit Analysis of Anaerobic Digester Systems, Water Quality Modelling: Approaches to Water Pollution Forecasting and Management, Modelling of Buckingham Canal Water Quality, Modelling and Simulation of Heavy Gas Dispersion on the Basis of Modification in Plume Path Theory, Case Study: Modelling and Simulation of Heavy Gases Released by Petrochemical Industries, HAZDIG: A new Software Package for Assessing Accidental Release and Dispersion Characteristics, Attenuation of Gaseous Pollutants by Greenbelts, TORAP A New Tool for Conducting Rapid Risk Assessment in Petroleum Refineries and Petrochemical Industries, Case Study: Application of a New Computer Automated Tool TORAP in Conducting Risk Assessment of a Petrochemical Industry, Models for Domino Effect Analysis in Chemical Process Industries, Studies on the Probabilities are Likely Impacts of Chains of Accident (Domino Effect) in a Fertilizer Industry.

Book A Digital Path to Environmental Education

Download or read book A Digital Path to Environmental Education written by Emma R. Bassein and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital technology has become completely engrained in the process of scientific research. Grade schools are beginning to incorporate computers and other digital devices into the learning process as tools for learning other subjects, including science. Educators have experimented with a variety of programs that incorporate computers, such as digital tutors, simulations of natural systems, and interactive simulations. This study aimed to demonstrate that handheld computers are a useful resource in problem-based learning environments. A "mini-curriculum", focused on making handheld computer-aided measurements of the key environmental parameters in marine estuaries, was designed and taught to eleven students from the Palmetto Ridge High School in Naples, Florida over a two week period. Students' reactions to both the curriculum and the computers were overwhelmingly positive. This proof-of-concept trial indicates that handheld computers have the potential to be a very useful tool in problem-based learning.

Book Current Trends and Advances in Computer Aided Intelligent Environmental Data Engineering

Download or read book Current Trends and Advances in Computer Aided Intelligent Environmental Data Engineering written by Goncalo Marques and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2022-03-20 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current Trends and Advances in Computer-Aided Intelligent Environmental Data Engineering merges computer engineering and environmental engineering. The book presents the latest finding on how data science and AI-based tools are being applied in environmental engineering research. This application involves multiple domains such as data science and artificial intelligence to transform the data collected by intelligent sensors into relevant and reliable information to support decision-making. These tools include fuzzy logic, knowledge-based systems, particle swarm optimization, genetic algorithms, Monte Carlo simulation, artificial neural networks, support vector machine, boosted regression tree, simulated annealing, ant colony algorithm, decision tree, immune algorithm, and imperialist competitive algorithm. This book is a fundamental information source because it is the first book to present the foundational reference material in this new research field. Furthermore, it gives a critical overview of the latest cross-domain research findings and technological developments on the recent advances in computer-aided intelligent environmental data engineering. Captures the application of data science and artificial intelligence for a broader spectrum of environmental engineering problems Presents methods and procedures as well as case studies where state-of-the-art technologies are applied in actual environmental scenarios Offers a compilation of essential and critical reviews on the application of data science and artificial intelligence to the entire spectrum of environmental engineering
