Book Moving Boundaries VII

Download or read book Moving Boundaries VII written by A. A. Mammoli and published by Computational and Experimental. This book was released on 2004 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these proceedings from the November 2003 conference, contributors consider the computational modeling of a continuum, where the positions of its borders or interphase boundaries must also be found. They examine theory, models, methods, and applications in different research perspectives. Topics include boundary tracking, fluid structure interactions, flow-through porous media, free surface flow, phase change, phase interface phenomena, and advanced computational methods in two and three dimensions. Applications include microelectronics, medicine, and materials science. The U.S. office of WIT Press is Computational Mechanics. Annotation : 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).

Book Computational Modelling of Free and Moving Boundary Problems III

Download or read book Computational Modelling of Free and Moving Boundary Problems III written by Luiz C. Wrobel and published by Wit Pr/Computational Mechanics. This book was released on 1995-01-01 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The names free and moving boundary problems, can be applied to a wide variety of physical situations. The common feature is the presence, in the mathematical model, of an initial unknown (free) boundary or a boundary which moves throughout the analysis, the determination of which is an essential part of the solution procedure. Examples of moving boundary problems are scrap melting in metallurgy, free surface flows in hydraulics and fluid mechanics, and the cooling and freezing of foodstuffs. Although completely different in nature, these problems have several common features regarding their mathematical modelling and computational methods of solution.

Book Computational Methods for Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book Computational Methods for Fluid Dynamics written by Joel H. Ferziger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a guide to numerical methods for solving fluid dynamics problems. The most widely used discretization and solution methods, which are also found in most commercial CFD-programs, are described in detail. Some advanced topics, like moving grids, simulation of turbulence, computation of free-surface flows, multigrid methods and parallel computing, are also covered. Since CFD is a very broad field, we provide fundamental methods and ideas, with some illustrative examples, upon which more advanced techniques are built. Numerical accuracy and estimation of errors are important aspects and are discussed in many examples. Computer codes that include many of the methods described in the book can be obtained online. This 4th edition includes major revision of all chapters; some new methods are described and references to more recent publications with new approaches are included. Former Chapter 7 on solution of the Navier-Stokes equations has been split into two Chapters to allow for a more detailed description of several variants of the Fractional Step Method and a comparison with SIMPLE-like approaches. In Chapters 7 to 13, most examples have been replaced or recomputed, and hints regarding practical applications are made. Several new sections have been added, to cover, e.g., immersed-boundary methods, overset grids methods, fluid-structure interaction and conjugate heat transfer.

Book Discontinuous Finite Elements in Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer

Download or read book Discontinuous Finite Elements in Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer written by Ben Q. Li and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-29 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past several years, significant advances have been made in developing the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for applications in fluid flow and heat transfer. Certain unique features of the method have made it attractive as an alternative for other popular methods such as finite volume and finite elements in thermal fluids engineering analyses. This book is written as an introductory textbook on the discontinuous finite element method for senior undergraduate and graduate students in the area of thermal science and fluid dynamics. It also can be used as a reference book for researchers and engineers who intend to use the method for research in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer. A good portion of this book has been used in a course for computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer for senior undergraduate and first year graduate students. It also has been used by some graduate students for self-study of the basics of discontinuous finite elements. This monograph assumes that readers have a basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer and some background in numerical analysis. Knowledge of continuous finite elements is not necessary but will be helpful. The book covers the application of the method for the simulation of both macroscopic and micro/nanoscale fluid flow and heat transfer phenomena.
