Book Atomistic Simulation Of Quantum Transport In Nanoelectronic Devices With Cd rom

Download or read book Atomistic Simulation Of Quantum Transport In Nanoelectronic Devices With Cd rom written by Yu Zhu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational nanoelectronics is an emerging multi-disciplinary field covering condensed matter physics, applied mathematics, computer science, and electronic engineering. In recent decades, a few state-of-the-art software packages have been developed to carry out first-principle atomistic device simulations. Nevertheless those packages are either black boxes (commercial codes) or accessible only to very limited users (private research codes). The purpose of this book is to open one of the commercial black boxes, and to demonstrate the complete procedure from theoretical derivation, to numerical implementation, all the way to device simulation. Meanwhile the affiliated source code constitutes an open platform for new researchers. This is the first book of its kind. We hope the book will make a modest contribution to the field of computational nanoelectronics.

Book The Physics Behind Nanotechnology Mathematical Modelling

Download or read book The Physics Behind Nanotechnology Mathematical Modelling written by Christopher Oluwatobi Adeogun and published by Eliva Press. This book was released on 2023-10-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field that involves the manipulation and control of matter at the nanoscale, typically ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. At this scale, the properties of materials can significantly differ from their bulk counterparts, leading to unique and enhanced functionalities. The physics behind nanotechnology encompasses various principles and phenomena that govern the behavior of matter at the nanoscale. In this book, we can see how these principles help explain phenomena related to heat transfer, phase transitions, and fluctuations at the nanoscale. Understanding these principles is crucial for designing and optimizing nanoscale devices and systems. One of the fundamental concepts in nanotechnology is quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics describes the behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic levels. It provides a framework for understanding phenomena such as wave-particle duality, quantization of energy levels, and tunneling. In nanotechnology, quantum mechanics plays a crucial role in explaining the electronic properties of nanomaterials. Mathematical modelling plays a vital role in understanding and predicting the behavior of nanoscale systems. It provides a quantitative framework for describing complex phenomena and optimizing device performance. Mathematical models in nanotechnology often involve differential equations, statistical methods, and computational simulations. It is crucial for understanding the mechanical properties of nanomaterials. Models based on continuum mechanics, such as elasticity theory and plasticity theory, can predict the behavior of nanomaterials under different loading conditions. These models help in designing materials with desired mechanical properties and optimizing their performance. Mathematical models also aid in the design and optimization of nanoscale devices such as sensors, transistors, and solar cells. By simulating device behavior using mathematical models, researchers can optimize device parameters to achieve desired performance characteristics.

Book Nano Quantum and Molecular Computing

Download or read book Nano Quantum and Molecular Computing written by Sandeep Kumar Shukla and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-12-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the grand challenges in the nano-scopic computing era is guarantees of robustness. Robust computing system design is confronted with quantum physical, probabilistic, and even biological phenomena, and guaranteeing high reliability is much more difficult than ever before. Scaling devices down to the level of single electron operation will bring forth new challenges due to probabilistic effects and uncertainty in guaranteeing 'zero-one' based computing. Minuscule devices imply billions of devices on a single chip, which may help mitigate the challenge of uncertainty by replication and redundancy. However, such device densities will create a design and validation nightmare with the shear scale. The questions that confront computer engineers regarding the current status of nanocomputing material and the reliability of systems built from such miniscule devices, are difficult to articulate and answer. We have found a lack of resources in the confines of a single volume that at least partially attempts to answer these questions. We believe that this volume contains a large amount of research material as well as new ideas that will be very useful for some one starting research in the arena of nanocomputing, not at the device level, but the problems one would face at system level design and validation when nanoscopic physicality will be present at the device level.
