Book Management of Diabetic Foot Complications

Download or read book Management of Diabetic Foot Complications written by Clifford P. Shearman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-04 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public and political concern about the increasing prevalence of diabetes has prompted major concern about treatment of patients with the condition. Foot complications are some of the commonest causes of hospitalisation of people with diabetes and if not treated well often lead to amputation. There is evidence that 85% of these amputations can be prevented by better understanding of the problem and by multi-disciplinary teams working more effectively together. This has been recognised and NICE have recently published guidelines on diabetic foot complications as have Diabetes UK and NHS Diabetes. These have been successful in raising awareness of the problem but the local multi-disciplinary teams need clear practical advice on how to manage the foot in diabetes and deliver high quality care. With the current interest in improving outcomes for patients with foot complications this is an ideal time to make a practical evidence-based handbook available. This book will provide clear practical guidelines on how to manage all aspects of the foot in diabetes as well as an in-depth analysis of the most recent evidence. The book will be based on care pathways with algorithms for each section so it would be of practical value in any clinic in primary or secondary care. It will appeal to a wide range of health care professionals treating people with diabetes: vascular surgeons and trainees, orthopaedic surgeons, diabetes specialist nurses, podiatrists and tissue viability nurses.

Book Comprehensive Mobile Foot Care LLC

Download or read book Comprehensive Mobile Foot Care LLC written by Pamela Beatriz Duarte and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Diabetic foot complications are a major cause of premature mortality and morbidity and significantly contribute to health care costs associated with diabetes. Nerve damage can drastically alter a person’s quality of life if not met with timely treatment and maintenance. Without provider-directed management, patients are at a higher risk for experiencing preventable diabetes-related complications. The elderly and homeless populations are especially at risk considering they have limited access to care and educational resources regarding proper diabetic foot care. Comprehensive Mobile Foot Care (CMFC) will bridge that gap by providing convenient and affordable mobile foot care by meeting patients where they reside. It is the mission of CMFC to provide proper foot care and improve quality of life by forming community partnerships and a trustful healthcare environment. This business plan will begin with a market analysis of the current diabetic and podiatric markets so as to identify areas in Los Angeles County that are most in need of our services. A feasibility analysis will follow and dive into the different components that will go into creating the organization. The plan will also include a legal and regulatory analysis to ensure proper state and federal regulations are being met. The business plan will conclude with a financial overview evaluating the sustainability of CMFC as well as what sources of revenue are required to provide uninterrupted services to our community.
