Book Composition of the Ash of Illinois Coals Classic Reprint

Download or read book Composition of the Ash of Illinois Coals Classic Reprint written by Orin Wainwright Rees and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-04-29 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Composition of the Ash of Illinois Coals Table 1 is a tabulation of analyses and sample descriptions assembled from the analytical files of the Survey. The table is arranged by the counties from which the coal samples were collected. Where available, analyses of ashes from face samples are shown first, followed by analyses of various prepared products. Since the analyses for each county represent samples of coals of different size, gravity, etc. And since coal preparation influences the ash composition, it is not possible to arrive at reliable county averages. Book Unit Coal and the Composition of Coal Ash

Download or read book Unit Coal and the Composition of Coal Ash written by S. W. Parr and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Unit Coal and the Composition of Coal Ash: August, 1909 A number of investigators have worked on various phases of this topic. Lord and Haas, who were no doubt the first in the field, have developed the idea that in any given type of coal, or perhaps, less broadly, in any given deposit of coal, there exists an initial substance, with certain uniformities as to calorific value, which might make it possible to calculate the heat units for any sample whose source as to locality was known. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Sulfur Reduction of Illinois Coals, Vol. 1: Washability Studies The potential reduction in sulfur (and ash) that can be obtained with a coal can be determined by making float - and sink (washability) tests with the coal in a laboratory. As described in more detail later in this report, this process is essentially one of determining the weight percentages and chemical compositions of the material that is collected from liquid baths of different specific gravities The percentage of coal that floats is commonly called recovery, and the mater ial that sinks is often called reject. A commercial preparation plant cannot provide as precise a separation of float - and sink products as that obtained in the laboratory. Book A Survey of the Coking Properties of Illinois Coals Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Survey of the Coking Properties of Illinois Coals Classic Reprint written by Harold Wesley Jackman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Survey of the Coking Properties of Illinois Coals Illinois coals from all the mining areas and all the commercially mined seams in the state have been evaluated for their ability to produce both chemical and metallurgical coke. They have been coked both by themselves and in blends, and it has been found that many of these coals that are not suitable for metallurgical coke because of their ash and sulfur content might be used to produce chemical coke where these impurities are not too critical. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Internal Surface Area, Moisture Content, and Porosity of Illinois Coals: Variations With Coal Rank The surface area of a solid is an important physical parameter, which can generally be correlated with the solid's rate of reactivity. In general, the greater the surface area, the higher the rate of reactivity in such processes as solubilization, catalysis, ion exchange, thermal decomposition, and corrosion; for coals, combustion and weathering also can be included. Book Weathering of Illinois Coals During Storage Classic Reprint

Download or read book Weathering of Illinois Coals During Storage Classic Reprint written by Harold Wesley Jackman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Weathering of Illinois Coals During Storage From these tests we conclude that double-screened coal from No. 5 and No. 6 seams in southern Illinois, in the sizes being supplied to metallurgical coke plants, can be stocked safely in contact with air, and without packing, during the six-months winter period at temperatures prevailing in the Chicago and central Illinois district. In summer appreciable oxidation occurs during storage, although to a greater extent with No. 6 coal than with No. 5. It appears, however, that for best coking results none of these coals should be stocked in the usual storage piles in warm weather longer than 30 days.
