Book Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials Using ANSYS Second Edition

Download or read book Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials Using ANSYS Second Edition written by Ever J. Barbero and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing structures using composite materials poses unique challenges, especially due to the need for concurrent design of both material and structure. Students are faced with two options: textbooks that teach the theory of advanced mechanics of composites, but lack computational examples of advanced analysis, and books on finite element analysis that may or may not demonstrate very limited applications to composites. But there is a third option that makes the other two obsolete: Ever J. Barbero's Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials Using ANSYS®, Second Edition. The Only Finite Element Analysis Book on the Market Using ANSYS to Analyze Composite Materials. By layering detailed theoretical and conceptual discussions with fully developed examples, this text supplies the missing link between theory and implementation. In-depth discussions cover all of the major aspects of advanced analysis, including three-dimensional effects, viscoelasticity, edge effects, elastic instability, damage, and delamination. This second edition of the bestseller has been completely revised to incorporate advances in the state of the art in such areas as modeling of damage in composites. In addition, all 50+ worked examples have been updated to reflect the newest version of ANSYS. Including some use of MATLAB®, these examples demonstrate how to use the concepts to formulate and execute finite element analyses and how to interpret the results in engineering terms. Additionally, the source code for each example is available to students for download online via a companion website featuring a special area reserved for instructors. Plus a solutions manual is available for qualifying course adoptions. Cementing applied computational and analytical experience to a firm foundation of basic concepts and theory, Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials Using ANSYS, Second Edition offers a modern, practical, and versatile classroom tool for today's engineering classroom.

Book Mat riaux composites 5e d

Download or read book Mat riaux composites 5e d written by BERTHELOT Jean-Marie and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-10-22 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Fracture Mechanics of Metals Composites Welds and Bolted Joints

Download or read book Fracture Mechanics of Metals Composites Welds and Bolted Joints written by Bahram Farahmand and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the preliminary stage of designing new structural hardware to perform a given mission in a fluctuating load environment, there are several factors that the designer should consider. Trade studies for different design configurations should be performed and, based on strength and weight considerations, among others, an optimum configuration selected. The selected design must withstand the environment in question without failure. Therefore, a comprehensive structural analysis that consists of static, dynamic, fatigue, and fracture is necessary to ensure the integrity of the structure. Engineers must also consider the feasibility of fabricating the structural hardware in the material selection process. During the past few decades, fracture mechanics has become a necessary discipline for the solution of many structural problems in which the survivability of structure containing pre-existing flaws is of great interest. These problems include structural failures resulting from cracks that are inherent in the material, or defects that are introduced in the part due to improper handling or rough machining, that must be assessed through fracture mechanics concepts.

Book excerpt: Rising awareness of and increased attention to sexual harassment has resulted in momentum to implement sexual harassment prevention efforts in higher education institutions. Work on preventing sexual harassment is an area that has recently garnered a lot of attention, especially around education and programs that go beyond the standard anti-sexual harassment trainings often used to comply with legal requirements. On April 20-21, 2021, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine hosted the workshop Developing Evaluation Metrics for Sexual Harassment Prevention Efforts. The workshop explored approaches and strategies for evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of sexual harassment interventions being implemented at higher education institutions and research and training sites, in order to assist institutions in transforming promising ideas into evidence-based best practices. Workshop participants also addressed methods, metrics, and measures that could be used to evaluate sexual harassment prevention efforts that lead to change in the organizational climate and culture and/or a change in behavior among community members. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussion of the workshop.
