In the course of this work, type collections have gained special attention. The register of Asteraceae types has now been brought to a point were data from all identified type specimens have been entered into the data base. The Department of Phanerogamic Botany keeps type material separate from the main collection, and the data base includes information of material kept in this type collection only. It must be pointed out in this context that many types are still to be found in the main collections, particularly among the older material. Indeed new types are continuously identified by members of the staff and by scientists who have had material on loan, or by visitors to the herbarium.
