Book Complexity and Evolution of Dissipative Systems

Download or read book Complexity and Evolution of Dissipative Systems written by Sergey Vakulenko and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the dynamic complexity of neural, genetic networks, and reaction diffusion systems. The author shows that all robust attractors can be realized in dynamics of such systems. In particular, a positive solution of the Ruelle-Takens hypothesis for on chaos existence for large class of reaction-diffusion systems is given. The book considers viability problems for such systems - viability under extreme random perturbations - and discusses an interesting hypothesis of M. Gromov and A. Carbone on biological evolution. There appears a connection with the Kolmogorov complexity theory. As applications, transcription-factors-microRNA networks are considered, patterning in biology, a new approach to estimate the computational power of neural and genetic networks, social and economical networks, and a connection with the hard combinatorial problems.

Book Strange Attractors for Periodically Forced Parabolic Equations

Download or read book Strange Attractors for Periodically Forced Parabolic Equations written by Kening Lu and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2013-06-28 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors prove that in systems undergoing Hopf bifurcations, the effects of periodic forcing can be amplified by the shearing in the system to create sustained chaotic behavior. Specifically, strange attractors with SRB measures are shown to exist. The analysis is carried out for infinite dimensional systems, and the results are applicable to partial differential equations. Application of the general results to a concrete equation, namely the Brusselator, is given.

Book Mathematical Modelling of Heat and Mass Transfer Processes

Download or read book Mathematical Modelling of Heat and Mass Transfer Processes written by V.G. Danilov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the present book the reader will find a review of methods for constructing a certain class of asymptotic solutions, which we call self-stabilizing solutions. This class includes solitons, kinks, traveling waves, etc. It can be said that either the solutions from this class or their derivatives are localized in the neighborhood of a certain curve or surface. For the present edition, the book published in Moscow by the Nauka publishing house in 1987, was almost completely revised, essentially up-dated, and shows our present understanding of the problems considered. The new results, obtained by the authors after the Russian edition was published, are referred to in footnotes. As before, the book can be divided into two parts: the methods for constructing asymptotic solutions ( Chapters I-V) and the application of these methods to some concrete problems (Chapters VI-VII). In Appendix a method for justification some asymptotic solutions is discussed briefly. The final formulas for the asymptotic solutions are given in the form of theorems. These theorems are unusual in form, since they present the results of calculations. The authors hope that the book will be useful to specialists both in differential equations and in the mathematical modeling of physical and chemical processes. The authors express their gratitude to Professor M. Hazewinkel for his attention to this work and his support.

Book Almost Automorphic and Almost Periodic Dynamics in Skew Product Semiflows

Download or read book Almost Automorphic and Almost Periodic Dynamics in Skew Product Semiflows written by Wenxian Shen and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1998 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is devoted to the study of almost automorphic dynamics in differential equations. By making use of techniques from abstract topological dynamics, it is shown that almost automorphy, a notion which was introduced by S. Bochner in 1955, is essential and fundamental in the qualitative study of almost periodic differential equations.

Book Blow up Theories for Semilinear Parabolic Equations

Download or read book Blow up Theories for Semilinear Parabolic Equations written by Bei Hu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-23 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an enormous amount of work in the literature about the blow-up behavior of evolution equations. It is our intention to introduce the theory by emphasizing the methods while seeking to avoid massive technical computations. To reach this goal, we use the simplest equation to illustrate the methods; these methods very often apply to more general equations.

Book Metasolutions of Parabolic Equations in Population Dynamics

Download or read book Metasolutions of Parabolic Equations in Population Dynamics written by Julián López-Gómez and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metasolutions of Parabolic Equations in Population Dynamics explores the dynamics of a generalized prototype of semilinear parabolic logistic problem. Highlighting the author's advanced work in the field, it covers the latest developments in the theory of nonlinear parabolic problems. The book reveals how to mathematically determine if a species maintains, dwindles, or increases under certain circumstances. It explains how to predict the time evolution of species inhabiting regions governed by either logistic growth or exponential growth. The book studies the possibility that the species grows according to the Malthus law while it simultaneously inherits a limited growth in other regions. The first part of the book introduces large solutions and metasolutions in the context of population dynamics. In a self-contained way, the second part analyzes a series of very sharp optimal uniqueness results found by the author and his colleagues. The last part reinforces the evidence that metasolutions are also categorical imperatives to describe the dynamics of huge classes of spatially heterogeneous semilinear parabolic problems. Each chapter presents the mathematical formulation of the problem, the most important mathematical results available, and proofs of theorems where relevant.

Book Abstract Parabolic Evolution Equations and ojasiewicz Simon Inequality II

Download or read book Abstract Parabolic Evolution Equations and ojasiewicz Simon Inequality II written by Atsushi Yagi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-12 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second volume continues the study on asymptotic convergence of global solutions of parabolic equations to stationary solutions by utilizing the theory of abstract parabolic evolution equations and the Łojasiewicz–Simon gradient inequality. In the first volume of the same title, after setting the abstract frameworks of arguments, a general convergence theorem was proved under the four structural assumptions of critical condition, Lyapunov function, angle condition, and gradient inequality. In this volume, with those abstract results reviewed briefly, their applications to concrete parabolic equations are described. Chapter 3 presents a discussion of semilinear parabolic equations of second order in general n-dimensional spaces, and Chapter 4 is devoted to treating epitaxial growth equations of fourth order, which incorporate general roughening functions. In Chapter 5 consideration is given to the Keller–Segel equations in one-, two-, and three-dimensional spaces. Some of these results had already been obtained and published by the author in collaboration with his colleagues. However, by means of the abstract theory described in the first volume, those results can be extended much more. Readers of this monograph should have a standard-level knowledge of functional analysis and of function spaces. Familiarity with functional analytic methods for partial differential equations is also assumed.

Book Fractional in Time Semilinear Parabolic Equations and Applications

Download or read book Fractional in Time Semilinear Parabolic Equations and Applications written by Ciprian G. Gal and published by Springer. This book was released on 2020-11-04 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a unified analysis and scheme for the existence and uniqueness of strong and mild solutions to certain fractional kinetic equations. This class of equations is characterized by the presence of a nonlinear time-dependent source, generally of arbitrary growth in the unknown function, a time derivative in the sense of Caputo and the presence of a large class of diffusion operators. The global regularity problem is then treated separately and the analysis is extended to some systems of fractional kinetic equations, including prey-predator models of Volterra–Lotka type and chemical reactions models, all of them possibly containing some fractional kinetics. Besides classical examples involving the Laplace operator, subject to standard (namely, Dirichlet, Neumann, Robin, dynamic/Wentzell and Steklov) boundary conditions, the framework also includes non-standard diffusion operators of "fractional" type, subject to appropriate boundary conditions. This book is aimed at graduate students and researchers in mathematics, physics, mathematical engineering and mathematical biology, whose research involves partial differential equations.
