Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume describes organoberyllium compounds containing at least one berylli um-carbon bond, except the beryllium carbides and cyanides. It covers the literature com pletely to the end of 1986 and includes most of the references up to mid-1987. This Gmelin volume is different from all other volumes of the series on organometallic compounds in that it is dedicated to an area of research which has virtually come to a complete standstill. Organoberyllium chemistry has never been a very popular field, and only few workers have contributed to its slow growth, as is seen by the relatively small number of publications in the field. This very modest development became stagnant in the early 1970's and was followed by a rapid decline. This exceptional fate of a branch of organometallic chemistry is only partly due to the very limited number of potential application~ of beryllium and its compounds. The compounds of this element are, in principle, at least as interesting and intriguing to scientists as those of other metals in the Periodic Table. No doubt the main reason for the apparent ban of all experimental organoberyllium chemistry is to be found in the established, and alleged, hazardous properties of beryllium compounds. Although similar hazards have been established for other organometallics where active research is still in process, e. g. , mercury and lead, these observations were absolutely lethaI for organoberyllium research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inorganic Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry: A Textbook Series This series reflects the breadth of modern research in inorganic chemistry and fulfils the need for advanced texts. The series covers the whole range of inorganic and physical chemistry, solid state chemistry, coordination chemistry, main group chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry. Synthesis of Organometallic Compounds A Practical Guide Edited by Sanshiro Komiya Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan. This book describes the concepts of organometallic chemistry and provides an overview of the chemistry of each metal including the synthesis and handling of its important organometallic compounds. Synthesis of Organometallic Compounds: A Practical Guide provides: an excellent introduction to organometallic synthesis detailed synthetic protocols for the most important organometallic syntheses an overview of the reactivity, applications and versatility of organometallic compounds a survey of metals and their organometallic derivatives The purpose of this book is to serve as a practical guide to understanding the general concepts of organometallics for graduate students and scientists who are not necessarily specialists in organometallic chemistry.

Book Principles of Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Principles of Organometallic Chemistry written by G. E. Coates and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Organometallic Compounds (1960) was used not only by specialists but also as an undergraduate textbook. The third edition, recently published in two volumes, is about three times the length of the second and contains considerably more factual material than is appropriate for a student textbook. Therefore we believe that a shorter treatment would be welcome. In planning this book the authors have emphasized matters more of prin ciple than of detail, and have included in the first two chapters some general discussion of the properties and syntheses of organometallic compounds that is not to be found in the larger work. Some aspects of the organic chemistry of arsenic, and of silicon with particular reference to silicone polymers, are also included. Most university teachers of chemistry are becoming seriously concerned about the relentless increase in the amount and complexity of the material that is squeezed into undergraduate chemistry courses. With this in mind the authors have tried to cut detail to a minimum, but readers will find that the relative amount presented varies considerably between the various topics discussed. In general the treatment is more extensive than usual only if either or both of these conditions are met: (1), the subject has significant bearing on other major branches of chemistry including im portant industrial processes; (2), the topic is commonly misunderstood or found to be confusing.

Book Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II Volume 14

Download or read book Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II Volume 14 written by Edward W. Abel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry in 1982, studies on the chemistry of molecules with carbon-metal bonds have continued to expand rapidly. This is due to many factors, ranging from the sheer intellectual challenge and excitement provided by the continuing production of novel results, which demand new ideas, through to the successful application of organometallic species in organic syntheses, the generation of living catalysts for polymerization, and the synthesis of precursors for materials employed in the electronic and ceramic industries. These factors led to the publication of the updated Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry II. The original work serves as a basis for new volumes, focusing on organometallic chemistry reported since 1982, with reference back to the original work when necessary. For ease of use the new volumes maintain the same general structure as employed previously but reflect the changes in substance and direction the field has undergone in the last ten years. This book will serve as a pivotal reference point for new work and will function to generate new ideas and perceptions for the continued advance of what will surely continue as a vibrant area of chemistry.
