Book Functions of One Complex Variable

Download or read book Functions of One Complex Variable written by J.B. Conway and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as a textbook for a first course in the theory of functions of one complex variable for students who are mathematically mature enough to understand and execute E - I) arguments. The actual pre requisites for reading this book are quite minimal; not much more than a stiff course in basic calculus and a few facts about partial derivatives. The topics from advanced calculus that are used (e.g., Leibniz's rule for differ entiating under the integral sign) are proved in detail. Complex Variables is a subject which has something for all mathematicians. In addition to having applications to other parts of analysis, it can rightly claim to be an ancestor of many areas of mathematics (e.g., homotopy theory, manifolds). This view of Complex Analysis as "An Introduction to Mathe matics" has influenced the writing and selection of subject matter for this book. The other guiding principle followed is that all definitions, theorems, etc.

Book Complex Variables

Download or read book Complex Variables written by Steven G. Krantz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex analysis is a central part of modern analytical thinking. It is used in engineering, physics, mathematics, astrophysics, and many other fields. It provides powerful tools for analysis and often yields pleasing and unanticipated answers. The purpose is to make complex analysis accessible to mathematics, engineering, and many other students. There are incisive applications throughout. Because complex analysis is a visual subject, the book has a large number of figures. One unifying theme is partial differential equations. The Cauchy-Riemann equations and the Laplacian have central roles in our exposition. Other differential equations--such as Euler's equation--also make an appearance.

  • Pages : 443 pages

Download or read book Complex Variables written by Steven G. Krantz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2007-09-19 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the algebraic properties of a complete number field, to the analytic properties imposed by the Cauchy integral formula, to the geometric qualities originating from conformality, Complex Variables: A Physical Approach with Applications and MATLAB explores all facets of this subject, with particular emphasis on using theory in practice. The first five chapters encompass the core material of the book. These chapters cover fundamental concepts, holomorphic and harmonic functions, Cauchy theory and its applications, and isolated singularities. Subsequent chapters discuss the argument principle, geometric theory, and conformal mapping, followed by a more advanced discussion of harmonic functions. The author also presents a detailed glimpse of how complex variables are used in the real world, with chapters on Fourier and Laplace transforms as well as partial differential equations and boundary value problems. The final chapter explores computer tools, including Mathematica®, MapleTM, and MATLAB®, that can be employed to study complex variables. Each chapter contains physical applications drawing from the areas of physics and engineering. Offering new directions for further learning, this text provides modern students with a powerful toolkit for future work in the mathematical sciences.

Book Complex Analysis in One Variable

Download or read book Complex Analysis in One Variable written by Raghavan Narasimhan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original edition of this book has been out of print for some years. The appear ance of the present second edition owes much to the initiative of Yves Nievergelt at Eastern Washington University, and the support of Ann Kostant, Mathematics Editor at Birkhauser. Since the book was first published, several people have remarked on the absence of exercises and expressed the opinion that the book would have been more useful had exercises been included. In 1997, Yves Nievergelt informed me that, for a decade, he had regularly taught a course at Eastern Washington based on the book, and that he had systematically compiled exercises for his course. He kindly put his work at my disposal. Thus, the present edition appears in two parts. The first is essentially just a reprint of the original edition. I have corrected the misprints of which I have become aware (including those pointed out to me by others), and have made a small number of other minor changes.

Book Complex Variables

Download or read book Complex Variables written by Joseph L. Taylor and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2011 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The text covers a broad spectrum between basic and advanced complex variables on the one hand and between theoretical and applied or computational material on the other hand. With careful selection of the emphasis put on the various sections, examples, and exercises, the book can be used in a one- or two-semester course for undergraduate mathematics majors, a one-semester course for engineering or physics majors, or a one-semester course for first-year mathematics graduate students. It has been tested in all three settings at the University of Utah. The exposition is clear, concise, and lively. There is a clean and modern approach to Cauchy's theorems and Taylor series expansions, with rigorous proofs but no long and tedious arguments. This is followed by the rich harvest of easy consequences of the existence of power series expansions. Through the central portion of the text, there is a careful and extensive treatment of residue theory and its application to computation of integrals, conformal mapping and its applications to applied problems, analytic continuation, and the proofs of the Picard theorems. Chapter 8 covers material on infinite products and zeroes of entire functions. This leads to the final chapter which is devoted to the Riemann zeta function, the Riemann Hypothesis, and a proof of the Prime Number Theorem." -- Publisher.

Download or read book Complex Variables written by H. R. Chillingworth and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex Variables covers topics ranging from complex numbers to point sets in the complex plane, elementary functions, straight lines and circles, simple and conformal transformations, and zeros and singularities. Cauchy's theorem, Taylor's theorem, Laurent's theorem, contour integration, and miscellaneous theorems are also discussed. This volume consists of 14 chapters, the first of which introduces the theory of complex numbers and their development either from an algebraic or from a geometrical viewpoint. Emphasis is on the complex plane, modulus, amplitude, number pairs, complex conjugates, the triangle inequality, De Moivre's theorem, and the four mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Attention then turns to point sets in the complex plane, infinite series and tests for convergence, functions of a complex variable, and elementary functions. The chapters that follow focus on straight lines and circles, simple and conformal transformations, and integration. Exercises are included in every section of each chapter except the last. This book is written primarily for students and teachers of mathematics.
