Book Records of Load Tests on Friction Piles

Download or read book Records of Load Tests on Friction Piles written by National Research Council (U.S.). Highway Research Board. Committee on Bridges and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results are presented of 412 load tests compiled in a condensed form. the records are classified and indexed in accordance with type of pile, general type of soil, and locality. By means of these indices, records can be located that may be of interest in judging the probable behavior of piling under somewhat similar conditions. Load-settlement curves corresponding to the individual tests are shown in pile test data sheets. Results of various load tests have been compared on the basis of the shear strength actually developed between the pile and the soil during the tests. The shear strength has been calculated by dividing the failure load in each test by the embedded area of the pile. In the case of h-piles the embedded areas have been calculated on the assumption that failure occurs on the sides of the rectangular prism enclosing the pile section. Results of these calculations are presented.

Book Rapid Load Testing on Piles

Download or read book Rapid Load Testing on Piles written by Paul Holscher and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2008-08-28 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To obtain data about the stiffness and bearing capacity of a foundation pile, the Rapid Load Test could be an effective and economic alternative for a static load test. In order to judge this, the influence of rate effects in clay and pore water pressures in sand should first be understood. This book presents the latest developments in the research

Book Axial Load Tests and Analysis for Open ended Steel Tubular Piles Driven Into Weathered Rock

Download or read book Axial Load Tests and Analysis for Open ended Steel Tubular Piles Driven Into Weathered Rock written by Yi Han and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bearing capacity of tubular, open-ended steel piles driving into weathered rock was investigated using static load tests, finite element analysis and dynamic load tests. Dynamic load tests were carried out by using the Case Method and the CAPWAP Method which were used to determine the bearing capacity of piles. The effects of final set, pile burial length, setup and other factors on the pile bearing capacity were evaluated. In the static load tests, two piles with 0.813 m diameter and one pile with a diameter of 1.0 m were tested. The finite element analysis was performed to back calculate the load-displacement response of piles. A hyperbolic model for soils and an elastic-plastic model for rocks were used in the study. A parametric study was also carried out. The issues, such as the effects of pile installation and soil plug, were discussed.
