Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new 4th edition of Seborg’s Process Dynamics Control provides full topical coverage for process control courses in the chemical engineering curriculum, emphasizing how process control and its related fields of process modeling and optimization are essential to the development of high-value products. A principal objective of this new edition is to describe modern techniques for control processes, with an emphasis on complex systems necessary to the development, design, and operation of modern processing plants. Control process instructors can cover the basic material while also having the flexibility to include advanced topics.

Book The Optimal Control of Chemical Processes

Download or read book The Optimal Control of Chemical Processes written by Coleman B. Brosilow and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attention is focused on obtaining a near optimal controller, for chemical processes, which is simple to design and inexpensive to implement. Pontryagin's technique is used to show that for a quadratic objective function, and a process which is described by a set of ordinary differential equations, linear in the controllable variables, the optimal control is on-off control, when the controllable variables are assumed to be bounded. A technique of parameter optimization is developed and used to obtain the equations which specify the switching times. These equations are restricted to processes which can be approximated by stable, linear, sationary differential equations. For the special case of one switch it is shown that the control law can be transformed into a switching criterion which is linear in the process outputs. Employing this criterion continuously results in a feedback controller which requires only a relay and a summing device for implementation. Analog computer studies on the control of both underdamped and overdamped systems with the 'one switch into the future' optimal controller show that this controller gives a virtually dead beat type of response even for severe disturbances. Book Optimal Control for Chemical Engineers

Download or read book Optimal Control for Chemical Engineers written by Simant Ranjan Upreti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained book gives a detailed treatment of optimal control theory that enables readers to formulate and solve optimal control problems. With a strong emphasis on problem solving, it provides all the necessary mathematical analyses and derivations of important results, including multiplier theorems and Pontryagin's principle. The text presents various examples and basic concepts of optimal control and describes important numerical methods and computational algorithms for solving a wide range of optimal control problems, including periodic processes.

This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 2667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 25th European Symposium on Computer-Aided Process Engineering contains the papers presented at the 12th Process Systems Engineering (PSE) and 25th European Society of Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE) Joint Event held in Copenhagen, Denmark, 31 May - 4 June 2015. The purpose of these series is to bring together the international community of researchers and engineers who are interested in computing-based methods in process engineering. This conference highlights the contributions of the PSE/CAPE community towards the sustainability of modern society. Contributors from academia and industry establish the core products of PSE/CAPE, define the new and changing scope of our results, and future challenges. Plenary and keynote lectures discuss real-world challenges (globalization, energy, environment, and health) and contribute to discussions on the widening scope of PSE/CAPE versus the consolidation of the core topics of PSE/CAPE. Highlights how the Process Systems Engineering/Computer-Aided Process Engineering community contributes to the sustainability of modern society Presents findings and discussions from both the 12th Process Systems Engineering (PSE) and 25th European Society of Computer-Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE) Events Establishes the core products of Process Systems Engineering/Computer Aided Process Engineering Defines the future challenges of the Process Systems Engineering/Computer Aided Process Engineering community

Book Stochastic Global Optimization Techniques And Applications In Chemical Engineering With Cd rom

Download or read book Stochastic Global Optimization Techniques And Applications In Chemical Engineering With Cd rom written by Gade Pandu Rangaiah and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-06-04 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization has played a key role in the design, planning and operation of chemical and related processes, for several decades. Global optimization has been receiving considerable attention in the past two decades. Of the two types of techniques for global optimization, stochastic global optimization is applicable to any type of problems having non-differentiable functions, discrete variables and/or continuous variables. It, thus, shows significant promise and potential for process optimization. So far, there are no books focusing on stochastic global optimization and its applications in chemical engineering. Stochastic Global Optimization — a monograph with contributions by leading researchers in the area — bridges the gap in this subject, with the aim of highlighting and popularizing stochastic global optimization techniques for chemical engineering applications. The book, with 19 chapters in all, is broadly categorized into two sections that extensively cover the techniques and the chemical engineering applications.

Book Instrument Engineers Handbook Volume Two

Download or read book Instrument Engineers Handbook Volume Two written by Bela G. Liptak and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 2460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The latest update to Bela Liptak's acclaimed "bible" of instrument engineering is now available. Retaining the format that made the previous editions bestsellers in their own right, the fourth edition of Process Control and Optimization continues the tradition of providing quick and easy access to highly practical information. The authors are practicing engineers, not theoretical people from academia, and their from-the-trenches advice has been repeatedly tested in real-life applications. Expanded coverage includes descriptions of overseas manufacturer's products and concepts, model-based optimization in control theory, new major inventions and innovations in control valves, and a full chapter devoted to safety. With more than 2000 graphs, figures, and tables, this all-inclusive encyclopedic volume replaces an entire library with one authoritative reference. The fourth edition brings the content of the previous editions completely up to date, incorporates the developments of the last decade, and broadens the horizons of the work from an American to a global perspective. Béla G. Lipták speaks on Post-Oil Energy Technology on the AT&T Tech Channel.
