Book Comparison of Nastran Analysis with Ground Vibration Results of Uh 60a Nasa Aefa Test Configuration

Download or read book Comparison of Nastran Analysis with Ground Vibration Results of Uh 60a Nasa Aefa Test Configuration written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preceding program flight tests, a ground vibration test and modal test analysis of a UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter was conducted by Sikorsky Aircraft to complement the UH-60A test plan and NASA/ARMY Modern Technology Rotor Airloads Program. The 'NASA/AEFA' shake test configuration was tested for modal frequencies and shapes and compared with its NASTRAN finite element model counterpart to give correlative results. Based upon previous findings, significant differences in modal data existed and were attributed to assumptions regarding the influence of secondary structure contributions in the preliminary NASTRAN modeling. An analysis of an updated finite element model including several secondary structural additions has confirmed that the inclusion of specific secondary components produces a significant effect on modal frequency and free-response shapes and improves correlations at lower frequencies with shake test data. Book Automatic Control of Aircraft and Missiles

Download or read book Automatic Control of Aircraft and Missiles written by John H. Blakelock and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1991-09-03 with total page 668 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Second Edition continues the fine tradition of its predecessor by exploring the various automatic control systems in aircraft and on board missiles. Considerably expanded and updated, it now includes new or additional material on: the effectiveness of beta-beta feedback as a method of obtaining coordination during turns using the F-15 as the aircraft model; the root locus analysis of a generic acceleration autopilot used in many air-to-air and surface-to-air guided missiles; the guidance systems of the AIM-9L Sidewinder as well as bank-to-turn missiles; various types of guidance, including proportional navigation and line-of-sight and lead-angle command guidance; the coupling of the output of a director fire control system into the autopilot; the analysis of multivariable control systems; and methods for modeling the human pilot, plus the integration of the human pilot into an aircraft flight control system. Also features many new additions to the appendices.

Book A Dictionary of Mnemonics PLE Memory

Download or read book A Dictionary of Mnemonics PLE Memory written by Various and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Greeks invented them. All manner of people in the European Middle Ages used them, often with creative and brilliant effect. Victorian schoolmasters in England almost buried them and the pupils who had to cram facts parrot-fashion. Originally published in 1972, this title brought mnemonics back into focus with a new collection designed for current use. A mnemonic is anything that gets your memory working. When in the month does the third quarter-day fall? What order have the planets from the sun? Are you sure about the kings and queens of England? People nowadays have so much to remember that even those quite happy with √2 = 1.414 may prefer to chant ‘I wish I know the root of two’ and remind themselves in that way. Although some entries are very much of their time, this title reminds us that mnemonics are still a useful tool in a world where technology means most people feel they have little need to remember.

Book Basic Helicopter Aerodynamics

Download or read book Basic Helicopter Aerodynamics written by John M. Seddon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-06-09 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic Helicopter Aerodynamics is widely appreciated as an easily accessible, rounded introduction to the first principles of the aerodynamics of helicopter flight. Simon Newman has brought this third edition completely up to date with a full new set of illustrations and imagery. An accompanying website www.wiley.com/go/seddon contains all the calculation files used in the book, problems, solutions, PPT slides and supporting MATLAB® code. Simon Newman addresses the unique considerations applicable to rotor UAVs and MAVs, and coverage of blade dynamics is expanded to include both flapping, lagging and ground resonance. New material is included on blade tip design, flow characteristics surrounding the rotor in forward flight, tail rotors, brown-out, blade sailing and shipborne operations. Concentrating on the well-known Sikorsky configuration of single main rotor with tail rotor, early chapters deal with the aerodynamics of the rotor in hover, vertical flight, forward flight and climb. Analysis of these motions is developed to the stage of obtaining the principal results for thrust, power and associated quantities. Later chapters turn to the characteristics of the overall helicopter, its performance, stability and control, and the important field of aerodynamic research is discussed, with some reference also to aerodynamic design practice. This introductory level treatment to the aerodynamics of helicopter flight will appeal to aircraft design engineers and undergraduate and graduate students in aircraft design, as well as practising engineers looking for an introduction to or refresher course on the subject.
