In later sections, the scientists review and analyze the state of nursing science in relation to community health, practice strategies, family care, health promotion, biobehavioral investigations, women′s health, gerontologic nursing, and health system perspectives and outcomes. For physiological as well as psychological research, the most relevant theories driving the research are presented along with the review of multiple diverse instruments and measurement issues. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between nursing theory and practice has been an area of intense professional debate for many years. With new governmental directives relating to how nurses care for patients, the debate continues about how and why nurses' care has never been more important. This book looks at all the key issues. It explores the historical basis upon which nurses care, and provides an invaluable theoretical resource to enable nurses from all areas of practice to understand better what care actually is. In addition to this important area it considers the difficulties in researching care. The key strength of this book is the way it exposes the thoughts, feelings and beliefs of nurses who are currently practising. The book will provide practical and theoretical information for both academics and practicing nurses.

Book Nurse Caring Behaviors Perceived as Important Indicators of Caring by Patients Undergoing Cardiac Catheterization and Nurses Caring for Them

Download or read book Nurse Caring Behaviors Perceived as Important Indicators of Caring by Patients Undergoing Cardiac Catheterization and Nurses Caring for Them written by Millie Kale Creech and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This was a descriptive study comparing the patients' perception of the relative importance of various nurse caring behaviors with the nurses' perception of the relative importance of the same nurse caring behaviors. A sample of 50 patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization and 50 nurses who care for patients having cardiac catheterizations were asked to complete a Caring Behaviors Assessment. Consistent with previous studies, the patients and the nurses both identified assistance with human needs as the most important. Patients and nurses also identified the expression of positive and negative feelings as the least important of the nurse caring behaviors. However, nurses in this sample ascribed less importance to all the nurse caring behaviors than did the patients.
