Book Comparative analysis between Grid and Cloud computing

Download or read book Comparative analysis between Grid and Cloud computing written by Bijoy Boban and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2013 in the subject Computer Science - Technical Computer Science, Lovely Professional University, Punjab (School of Computer Science), course: MTech C.S.E, language: English, abstract: Cloud computing is the current most trendy and social technology that has been launched on the network world which can also be called as a reincarnation or evolution of Grid computing, so the Clouds are considered as a new generation of Grid computing. These Clouds consist of data centres which are owned by individual institute, organisations or companies. The homogeneity within each data centre in the infrastructure is the main feature for the cloud computing compared to grid computing. Cloud Computing has become another most used word on internet after Web 2.0. There are many definitions for Cloud computing and there seems to be no consensus on what a Cloud is. Cloud Computing is not a completely new concept, it has intricate connection to the relatively new but thirteen year established Grid Computing paradigm and other relevant technologies such as utility computing, cluster computing, and distributed systems when we go through the structure and working of a Cloud.

Book Grid and Cloud Computing

Download or read book Grid and Cloud Computing written by Katarina Stanoevska and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-04 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today’s dynamic business environment, IT departments are under permanent pressure to meet two divergent requirements: to reduce costs and to support business agility with higher flexibility and responsiveness of the IT infrastructure. Grid and Cloud Computing enable a new approach towards IT. They enable increased scalability and more efficient use of IT based on virtualization of heterogeneous and distributed IT resources. This book provides a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of Grids and Clouds and of how companies can benefit from them. A wide array of topics is covered, e.g. business models and legal aspects. The applicability of Grids and Clouds in companies is illustrated with four cases of real business experiments. The experiments illustrate the technical solutions and the organizational and IT governance challenges that arise with the introduction of Grids and Clouds. Practical guidelines on how to successfully introduce Grids and Clouds in companies are provided.

Book An Introspection of Cloud Computing Vs Grid Computing

Download or read book An Introspection of Cloud Computing Vs Grid Computing written by Ankur Goswami and published by Ary Publisher. This book was released on 2022-12-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grid computing is emerging as a promising solution to some of the most vexing challenges facing e-Health. It also offers a powerful tool for other areas of healthcare such as drug discovery, as well as economic and weather forecasting, earthquake analysis, etc. In all these domains, grid computing easily outclasses traditional IT systems, in terms of its ability to cope cost effectively with their massive demands on computer-processing power, and the intensity of real-time data throughputs. Grid Computing and e-Health Whether one speaks of business travellers and tourists outside their home countries, the growing number of elderly with chronic diseases who cannot easily visit hospitals, or urgent, complex cases requiring consultations with a range of specialists, e-health means real-time, secure acquisition and access to extremely vast volumes of data from anywhere, at anytime. From a pacemaker to an electronic health record, grid computing is seen as one of the ways to address these, as well as a wide array of associated challenges. Both the robustness and the in-built fault tolerance of grids juxtaposes directly with the demand for 'always live' healthcare applications. Other than access to distributed databases, the rapid data mining capabilities of grids are seen as enabling tools for a variety of epidemiological and biomedical applications. Grid computing is also proving itself in bioinformatics research, and has several proponents who swear about its advantages in terms of new drug design/discovery as well as personal medicine (or i-health). At the moment, there are several e-health grid computing initiatives underway in Europe, at different stages - from research through pilot projects to implementation.

Book excerpt: This book provide latest research findings, innovative research results, methods and development techniques from both theoretical and practical perspectives related to P2P, grid, cloud and Internet computing as well as to reveal synergies among such large-scale computing paradigms. P2P, grid, cloud and Internet computing technologies have been very fast established as breakthrough paradigms for solving complex problems by enabling aggregation and sharing of an increasing variety of distributed computational resources at large scale. Grid computing originated as a paradigm for high performance computing, as an alternative to expensive supercomputers through different forms of large-scale distributed computing. P2P computing emerged as a new paradigm after client-server and web-based computing and has shown useful to the development of social networking, Business to Business (B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C), Business to Government (B2G), Business to Employee (B2E) and so on. Cloud computing has been defined as a “computing paradigm where the boundaries of computing are determined by economic rationale rather than technical limits.” Cloud computing has fast become the computing paradigm with applicability and adoption in all application domains and providing utility computing at large scale. Finally, Internet computing is the basis of any large-scale distributed computing paradigms; it has very fast developed into a vast area of flourishing field with enormous impact on today’s information societies serving thus as a universal platform comprising a large variety of computing forms such as grid, P2P, cloud and mobile computing.
