Download or read book Comorbilidades del TDAH 2 ed 2010 written by and published by Elsevier España. This book was released on 2010 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Download or read book Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder written by David Gozal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-28 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurobehavioral disorder affecting 5–10% of children and adolescents and 3% of adults. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: From Genes to Patients aims to provide a comp- hensive, state-of-the-art overview of the critical aspects of ADHD, and hopefully will serve as a quick and up-to-date reference source for professionals with an int- est in ADHD. The book is divided into three major areas that follow an historical survey. The first group of chapters deals with current theories on the pathophysiology of ADHD, and focuses on neurotransmitters and the contributions and validity of animal m- els. The second section emphasizes the evaluation and treatment of patients with ADHD, from the day-to-day approach by the clinical psychologist to the more sophisticated anatomical and functional imaging strategies that have emerged in the last decade. In addition, chapters dealing with specific impairments, such as those pertaining to reading, social interaction, and working memory, are also included for more detailed analysis of these important aspects and their respective contributions to global functioning. The third and final section provides an expanded review on the pharmacotherapy of ADHD and the appropriate methods for selection of specific drugs for individual patients based on drug kinetics and gene expression. Book Assessing Adolescent and Adult Intelligence

Download or read book Assessing Adolescent and Adult Intelligence written by Alan S. Kaufman and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-08-05 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The classic text--now updated with a new interpretive approach tothe WAIS?-III Assessing Adolescent and Adult Intelligence, the classic text fromAlan Kaufman and Elizabeth Lichtenberger, has consistently providedthe most comprehensive source of information on cognitiveassessment of adults and adolescents. The newly updated ThirdEdition provides important enhancements and additions thathighlight the latest research and interpretive methods for theWAIS?-III. Augmenting the traditional "sequential" and "simultaneous"WAIS?-III interpretive methods, the authors present a new approachderived from Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) theory. This approachcombines normative assessment (performance relative to age peers)with ipsative assessment (performance relative to the person's ownmean level). Following Flanagan and Kaufman's work to develop asimilar CHC approach for the WISC?-IV, Kaufman and Lichtenbergerhave applied this system to the WAIS?-III profile of scores alongwith integrating recent WAIS?-III literature. Four appendices present the new method in depth. In addition to adetailed description, the authors provide a blank interpretiveworksheet to help examiners make the calculations and decisionsneeded for applying the additional steps of the new system, andnorms tables for the new WAIS?-III subtest combinations added inthis approach. Assessing Adolescent and Adult Intelligence remains the premierresource for the field, covering not only the WAIS?-III but alsothe WJ III?, the KAIT, and several brief measures of intelligence,as well as laying out a relevant, up-to-date discussion of thediscipline. The new, theory-based interpretive approach for theWAIS?-III makes this a vital resource for practicing psychologists,as well as a comprehensive text for graduate students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not long ago, conventional wisdom held that ADHD was a disorder of childhood only—that somewhere during puberty or adolescence, the child would outgrow it. Now we know better: the majority of children with the disorder continue to display symptoms throughout adolescence and into adulthood. It is during the teen and young adult years that the psychological and academic needs of young people with ADHD change considerably, and clinical and campus professionals are not always sufficiently prepared to meet the challenge. College Students with ADHD is designed to bring the professional reader up to speed. The book reviews the latest findings on ADHD in high school and college students, assessment methods, and pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions. Practical guidelines are included for helping young adults make the transition to college, so they may cope with their disorder and do as well as possible in school and social settings. Coverage is straightforward, realistic, and geared toward optimum functioning and outcomes. Among the topics featured: - Background information, from current statistics to diagnostic issues. - ADHD in high school adolescents. - ADHD in college students: behavioral, academic, and psychosocial functioning. - Assessment of ADHD in college students. - Psychosocial/educational treatment of ADHD in college students. - Pharmacotherapy for college students with ADHD. - Future directions for practice and research. The comprehensive information in College Students with ADHD provides a wealth of information to researchers and professionals working with this population, including clinical and school psychologists, school and college counselors, special education teachers, social workers, developmental psychologists, and disability support staff on college campuses, as well as allied mental health providers.

Book The Medical Basis of Psychiatry

Download or read book The Medical Basis of Psychiatry written by S. Hossein Fatemi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-17 with total page 1062 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Four years have passed since the last edition (3rd) of this book was published. In the intervening years, several reviews of this book have provided highly encouraging remarks about the value of this book in transmitting information on classification and treatment of psychiatric disorders to the audience. We are proposing to revise all chapters with an eye on accuracy and ease of use, and this is an especially timely endeavor with the upcoming publication of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual V. All the appropriate new information on biology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders will be added to the current proposed edition. It is our goal to recruit the same authors (if possible) who contributed to the previous edition. While all chapters will be updated (see TOC), those marked by asterisks will be the most likely to undergo more revision. Psychiatry has emerged as a burgeoning scientific field with major advances in etiology and treatment of several disorders. Just as there was excitement in the anatomic advances that took place a hundred years ago when Emil Kraepelin and his collaborators took on the enormous task of classification of psychiatric disorders based on rational scientific thinking, new advances in genetics, biochemistry, neuroanatomy and pharmacotherapy of mental disorders have brought us even closer to a better understanding of complex disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and even autism. The major goal of the previous edition of this classic book was to update the busy clinician, psychiatric resident and medical student with the most up-to-date information on etiology, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders. This goal remains the focus of the fourth edition of this book. In this updated and expanded edition, the reader will be provided with the most contemporary information and literature supported by a close survey of the field. This new edition of this classic title, with its focus on biologic and medical aspects of psychiatry, will continue to be of significant help to all interested in the scientific practice of psychiatry.
