As part of 8 National Architecture Awards program, he received the National Architecture Award in project category for ABS Headquarters Building. He played an important role in establishing the Landscape Department in ITU Faculty of Architecture, and he continues his academic career as an instructor in the Architecture Department of the faculty. Aslan is the founding partner of DS Mimarlik (DS Architecture). Yossapon Boonsom is a Thai landscape architect and the director of Shma Company Limited. He received a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Chulalongkorn University and continued his studies at a postgraduate level Master of Arts in Urban Management and Architectural Design at the University of Wales (Domus Academy, Milan). After completing his studies, he worked as a landscape architect in Singapore and Barcelona. Returning to Thailand in 2007, he established Shma Company Limited along with two partners, Mr. Namchai Saensupha and Mr. Prapan Napawongdee. Shma Company Limited is a Landscape Architectural design and research practice with a scope of work ranging from residential to urban planning with projects not only in Thailand but also expanding to Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India. Lineage ties have long been central in choosing migration destinations and channeling donations to village projects. After China's reopening, Shenzhen's villagers used diaspora as a resource to participate in the city's booming economy and to reestablish and protect their ritual sites against government plans. As overseas financial contributions diminish and diasporic relations change, Anne-Christine Trémon highlights the way emigration is being reconceptualized in regards to China's changing position in the world, offering a new perspective on Chinese globalization and the politics of scale-making.

Discussions during the seminar led us to conclude that similar goals were to be found in studies of the topic that spanned the breadth of ecological research. Yet, the exact meaning of 'habitat structure', and the way in which it was measured, seemed to differ widely among subdisciplines. Our own research, which involves several sorts of ecology, convinced us that the differences among subdisciplines were indeed real ones, and that they did inhibit communica tion. We decided that interchange of ideas among researchers working in marine ecology, plant-animal interactions, physiological ecology, and other more-or-less independent fields would be worthwhile, in that it might lead to useful generalizations about 'habitat structure'. To foster this interchange of ideas. we organized a symposium to attract researchers working with a wide variety of organisms living in many habitats, but united in their interest in the topic of 'habitat structure'. The symposium was held at The University of South Florida's Chinsegut Hill Conference Center, in May. 1988. We asked participants to think about 'habitat structure' in new ways; to synthesize important, but fragmented, information; and. perhaps. to consider ways of translating ideas across systems. The chapters contained in this book reflect the participants' attempts to do so. The book is divided into four parts, by major themes that we have found useful categorizations.
