Book Communist Propaganda at School

Download or read book Communist Propaganda at School written by Joanna Wojdon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-05-10 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communist Propaganda at School is based on an analysis of reading primers from the Soviet bloc and recreates the world as presented to the youngest schoolchildren who started their education between 1949 and 1989 across the nine Eastern European countries. The author argues that those first textbooks, from their first to last pages, were heavily laden with communist propaganda, and that they share similar concepts, techniques and even contents, even if some national specificities can be observed. This volume reconstructs the image of the world presented to schoolchildren in the first books they were required to read in their school life, and argues that the image was charged with communist propaganda. The book is based on the analysis of over sixty reading primers from nine countries of the Soviet bloc: Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia from the period. Written with simplicity and straightforwardness, this book will be a valuable resource, not only to international academics dealing with the issues of propaganda, censorship, education, childhood and everyday life under communism in Eastern and Central Europe, but can also academics dealing with education under communism or with the content of primary education. It also brings educational experiences of the Soviet bloc to international researchers, in particular to researchers of education under totalitarian and authoritarian regimes.

Book The Age of Eisenhower

Download or read book The Age of Eisenhower written by William I. Hitchcock and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 895 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times–bestselling biography: a “complete and powerful assessment” of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s presidency (Booklist, starred review). Drawing on newly declassified documents and thousands of pages of unpublished material, The Age of Eisenhower tells the story of a masterful president guiding the nation through the great crises of the 1950s, from McCarthyism and the Korean War through civil rights turmoil and Cold War conflicts. This is a portrait of a skilled leader who, despite his conservative inclinations, found a middle path through the bitter partisanship of his era. At home, Eisenhower affirmed the central elements of the New Deal, such as Social Security; fought the demagoguery of Senator Joseph McCarthy; and advanced the agenda of civil rights for African-Americans. Abroad, he ended the Korean War and avoided a new quagmire in Vietnam. Yet he also charted a significant expansion of America’s missile technology and deployed a vast array of covert operations around the world to confront the challenge of communism. As he left office, he cautioned Americans to remain alert to the dangers of a powerful military-industrial complex that could threaten their liberties. Today, presidential historians rank Eisenhower fifth on the list of great presidents, and William Hitchcock’s “rich narrative” shows us why Ike’s stock has risen so high. He was a gifted leader, a decent man of humble origins who used his powers to advance the welfare of all Americans (The Wall Street Journal).

Download or read book The Naked Communist written by W Cleon Skousen and published by Waking Lion Press. This book was released on 2019-06-05 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most vivid and comprehensive book on Communism ever published, The Naked Communist is a distillation of more than a hundred books and treatises on Communism, many written by Marxist authors. It portrays Communists the way they see themselves but stripped of propaganda and pretense. Here is explained Communism's amazing appeal, its history, and its basic and unchanging concepts--even its secret timetable and 45-point plan for world domination. Vital questions are clearly answered: Who gave Russia the A-bomb? How did the FBI fight the battle of the underground? Why did the West lose 600 million allies after World War II? What really happened in Korea? What is Communism's secret weapon? Is there an answer to Communism? And what lies ahead? The Naked Communist has sold millions of copies and can be found in the libraries of the CIA, the FBI, the White House, and homes all across America. "No one is better qualified to discuss the threat to this nation from Communism. You will be alarmed, you will be informed, and you will be glad you heard him." Ronald Reagan, president of the United States of America "I feel certain that your efforts on this important subject will receive widespread attention and consideration." J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation "The Naked Communist lays out the whole progressive plan. It is unbelievable how fast it has been achieved." Dr. Ben Carson. "Skousen predicted that someday soon you won't be able to find the truth in books or in libraries or anywhere else because it won't be in print anymore. . . . The history of this country is going to be lost because it's going to be hijacked by intellectuals and Communists. . . . And I think we're there." Glenn Beck, news commentator and talk-show host W. Cleon Skousen was an American conservative author and faith-based political theorist. A notable anti-Communist, he served as a special agent for the FBI and as field director for the American Security Council. Under President Ronald Reagan, he was a charter member of the Council for National Policy, a conservative think tank. He was also the founder of the National Center for Constitutional Studies.
