Book Communications Computation Control and Signal Processing

Download or read book Communications Computation Control and Signal Processing written by Arogyaswami Paulraj and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A. Paulraj*, V. Roychowdhury**, and C. Schaper* * Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University ** Dept. of Electrical Engineering, UCLA Innumerable conferences are held around the world on the subjects of commu nications, computation, control and signal processing, and on their numerous subdisciplines. Therefore one might not envision a coherent conference encom passing all these areas. However, such an event did take place June 22-26, 1995, at an international symposium held at Stanford University to celebrate Professor Thomas Kailath's sixtieth birthday and to honor the notable con tributions made by him and his students and associates. The depth of these contributions was evident from the participation of so many leading figures in each of these fields. Over the five days of the meeting, there were about 200 at tendees, from eighteen countries, more than twenty government and industrial organizations, and various engineering, mathematics and statistics faculties at nearly 50 different academic institutions. They came not only to celebrate but also to learn and to ponder the threads and the connections that Professor Kailath has discovered and woven among so many apparently disparate areas. The organizers received many comments about the richness of the occasion. A distinguished academic wrote of the conference being "the single most rewarding professional event of my life. " The program is summarized in Table 1. 1; a letter of reflections by Dr. C. Rohrs appears a little later.

Download or read book Advances in Communications and Signal Processing written by William A. Porter and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This international conference on "Advances in Communications and Control Systems" was held to bring together researchers in communications, control systems, computing and signal processing to explore common themes and present research results of broad interest. The focus of the conference was on presenting research results in a fashion that would make them accessible to groups wider than that of the narrow specialist. Many papers, therefore, are of a type that might be termed survey/research. The topics include control theory, communication detection, high speed computing, distributed parameter systems, nonlinear systems, stochastic optimization, source coding, robust control and applications, and neural networks. Selected papers from the conference are presented both in this book and in its companion volume Advances in Computing and Control.

Book Random Processes with Applications to Circuits and Communications

Download or read book Random Processes with Applications to Circuits and Communications written by Bernard C. Levy and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-14 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is based on 20 years of teaching a graduate-level course in random processes to a constituency extending beyond signal processing, communications, control, and networking, and including in particular circuits, RF and optics graduate students. In order to accommodate today’s circuits students’ needs to understand noise modeling, while covering classical material on Brownian motion, Poisson processes, and power spectral densities, the author has inserted discussions of thermal noise, shot noise, quantization noise and oscillator phase noise. At the same time, techniques used to analyze modulated communications and radar signals, such as the baseband representation of bandpass random signals, or the computation of power spectral densities of a wide variety of modulated signals, are presented. This book also emphasizes modeling skills, primarily through the inclusion of long problems at the end of each chapter, where starting from a description of the operation of a system, a model is constructed and then analyzed. Provides semester-length coverage of random processes, applicable to the analysis of electrical and computer engineering systems; Designed to be accessible to students with varying backgrounds in undergraduate mathematics and engineering; Includes solved examples throughout the discussion, as well as extensive problem sets at the end of every chapter; Develops and reinforces student’s modeling skills, with inclusion of modeling problems in every chapter; Solutions for instructors included.

Book Event Based Control and Signal Processing

Download or read book Event Based Control and Signal Processing written by Marek Miskowicz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-07-26 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Event-based systems are a class of reactive systems deployed in a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines including control, communication, signal processing, and electronic instrumentation. Activities in event-based systems are triggered in response to events usually representing a significant change of the state of controlled or monitored physical variables. Event-based systems adopt a model of calls for resources only if it is necessary, and therefore, they are characterized by efficient utilization of communication bandwidth, computation capability, and energy budget. Currently, the economical use of constrained technical resources is a critical issue in various application domains because many systems become increasingly networked, wireless, and spatially distributed. Event-Based Control and Signal Processingexamines the event-based paradigm in control, communication, and signal processing, with a focus on implementation in networked sensor and control systems. Featuring 23 chapters contributed by more than 60 leading researchers from around the world, this book covers: Methods of analysis and design of event-based control and signal processing Event-driven control and optimization of hybrid systems Decentralized event-triggered control Periodic event-triggered control Model-based event-triggered control and event-triggered generalized predictive control Event-based intermittent control in man and machine Event-based PID controllers Event-based state estimation Self-triggered and team-triggered control Event-triggered and time-triggered real-time architectures for embedded systems Event-based continuous-time signal acquisition and DSP Statistical event-based signal processing in distributed detection and estimation Asynchronous spike event coding technique with address event representation Event-based processing of non-stationary signals Event-based digital (FIR and IIR) filters Event-based local bandwidth estimation and signal reconstruction Event-Based Control and Signal Processing isthe first extensive study on both event-based control and event-based signal processing, presenting scientific contributions at the cutting edge of modern science and engineering.

Book The Impact of Processing Techniques on Communications

Download or read book The Impact of Processing Techniques on Communications written by J.K. Skwirzynski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 716 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the full proceedings of the Fourth Advanced Study Institute organised by myself and my colleagues in . * the field of Communication Theory and Allied Subjects. In the first Institute we associated the subject of signal processing in communication with that in control engineering. Then we concentrated on noise and random phenomena by bringing in as well the subject of stochastic calculus. The third time our subject was multi-user communication and associated with it, the important problem of assessing algorithmic complexity. This time we are concerned with the vast increase of computational power that is now available in communication systems processors and controllers. This forces a mathematical, algorithmic and structural approach to the solution of computational requirements and design problems, in contrast to previous heuristic and intuitive methods. We are also concerned with the interactions and trade-offs between the structure, speed, and complexity of a process, and between software and hardware implementations. At the previous Advanced Study Institute in this series, on Multi-User Communications, there was a session on computational complexity, applied particularly to network routing problems. It was the aim of this Institute to expand this topic and to link it with information theory, random processes, pattern analysis, and implementation aspects of communication processors. The first part of these proceedings concentrates on pattern and structure in communications processing. In organising this session I was greatly helped and guided by Professor P. G. Farrell and Professor J. L. Massey.
